The part where you talked about the Call of Legends series hit hard. My mom got me the set for Christmas in 2011, but I accidentally opened it early because we had gotten another package that I thought was safe to open up. It definitely would've been way better to open during Christmas day now that I look back at it.
I have a few of the ones you mentioned early on, base set, fossil set, base set 2 and 2000 Johto set also the Gardevoir Ex. Some beautiful cards. Also have the full Feraligatr neo genesis line with the holo Japanese Feraligatr which is one of my favourite cards.

I have always been into Pokemon but didn't really start collecting cards until Steam Siege due to X and Y being the first Pokemon game I ever played. Steam Siege was a fun set in my opinion. There were not a lot of expensive cards but a lot of cool artwork like the Pokemon breaks, dual-type shiny Pokemon cards, and like how you said the secret art of Gardevoir with Yvetal.
