The Asuryani ("children of Asuryan" in the Aeldari Lexicon), also called Craftworld Aeldari as they were named before the fall of their lost realm, or the Eldar as they were long known to outsiders, are an ancient humanoid alien species whose vast empire once extended the width and breadth of the known galaxy. The Asuryani are a kindred of the Aeldari race who now live on vast, city-like starships called craftworlds.

Fun fact about Isha apparently; Leman Russ looking for the tree of life to heal the emperor is her, because she is associated with trees and healing, and is in the warp. She also made spirit stones by crying like you guys said, and the reason you can cure nurgle's diseases is that she heals herself of them, then psychicly whispers the cures. She also can probably heal the emperor like ynead could, but yeah, I really do like that one bit of lore.

Isn't the whole story that Nurgle basically keeps her around to show off all his latest plagues to her as... I honestly couldn't say if he's torturing her by forcing her to watch her former worshippers choke on their own blood and die horribly or if he actually thinks she's going to be impressed?
Anyhow, the surviving worshippers of Isha claim that every time Nurgle is off doing something else, Isha engages in a little corporate espionage action and whispers the secrets of cures to mortals so they can stop Nurgle's plagues.

Isha is a life goddess and Nurgle is technically one too. Khaine is a war god and Khorne is the most martial and war focused of the Chaos Gods.
It's my headcanon that Tzeetch gave Cegorach a heads up about what was about to go down with the birth of Slaanesh, letting him escape into the Webway in the nick of time.

I like this series but your dislike of Eldar shows in all the missing details. Khaine doesn't fight his way out of Slaanesh. He does fight, which lets Cegorach escape, but Khaine is getting eaten like the rest and Khorne is like "no", because Khaine is like a brother god of Khorne: war, honour, bloodshed etc. Khorne fights Slaanesh for Khaine and Khaine is shattered into little pieces, which are the Avatars of Khaine. Pieces of the war god, kind of like the shards of C'tan. Speaking of C'tan, Khaine had an epic 1v1 battle with the Nightbringer during the war in heaven.

So the Eldar do have a *bit* of a Japanese influence, yes, but most of it is based off Celtic culture. Their language is heavily inspired by Gaelic (if I'm remembering right, some words just straight up *are* Gaelic), their Craftworld names are often derived from Celtic holidays (Saim-Hann = Samhain, Biel-tan = Beltane, etc.), and the Howling Banshees unit is named after the Banshee, a piece of Irish folklore. Also, to my understanding, Ynnead is pronounced "INN-ee-ad."
Not trying to be all "Well, ackchyually" here, I just feel that the main inspiration for the Eldar is worth noting.

    • @KindredBrujah

Their Gods are basically the Olympians, their language and culture is closer to Chinese and elements of Egyptian than Japanese if you ignore the Aspect Warriors. Dragons, Ancestor Worship, Phoenixes, death and rebirth etc.
One of their old quotes is a direct reference to Chinese Philosopher Gu Hongming, speaking to an Englishman, is quoted as saying "Why, when you lived in caves and clothed yourselves with skins, we were cultured people."
So TLDR. The Asuryani are a smorgasbord of ancient cultures from IRL ancient civilizations and their units are based around 70s-80s anime mechas if you listen/read to Jes Goodwin. (Creator of the Eldar, Dark Eldar and more)

From what I understand after 12 years in the hobby, the Eldar fractions go by this order when it comes to numbers.
    1. Dark Eldar/Drukari (because of cloning and sex. Do whatever the drugs tell them to do)
    2. Craftworld. (the vanilla ones, saves the Real people, use lots of wraith constructs, often uses other races to do their dirty work for them.)
    3. Exodites. (Hippies never moving from their planets, breed naturalny, but in moderation. Stay on their garden planets and ignores the rest od the galaxy)
    4. Harlequins. (The least numerous. Maybe? Not sure. Who can know they are so mysterious. CLOWNS!)
I do not count the Corsairs and Ynnari becuase they are less a fraction and more like organizations that anyone can join and do, mostly, whatever they want.

Exodites are in no way "primitives" though like briefly mentioned here. Maybe primitive to Necron or Aeldari at there peak. But to put it into perpsective the Exodites required three primarchs Vulkan, Ferrus Manuss & Mortarion at full legion strength to invade there world and they still held them for a while. With the Eldar farseer riding this giant Tetradactyl thing 1v2ing Ferrus and Vulkan and nearly winning.
The Exodites in this situation, they couldn't understand why they didn't flee from the three legions and it was discovered. *Spoiler for Promethean Sun* That these Exodites had held off the Dark Eldar raiders and had freed multiple human worlds captives including Vulkans very own people. It's why Vulkan when discovering the temple found the humans crying, preparing to ritual burn the half alive decaying corpse of a Wych the same Dark Eldar Wych that had killed Vulkans father and fought Vulkan when he was on the cusp of adulthood. It's why Vulkan exterminatused the entire planet because he knew he had doomed them to be raided and there was no way to protect them. (The Emperor also watched him and visited him during this battle, favouritism much? Also another example of the great crusade not being the best for all humans.)
(He didn't know he had burned the remnants of his people till later, this was part of the long arc of Vulkan feeling regret for burning an Eldar child and world. Later changing his mind and allying with other Eldar in the future.)

While he was ~getting smacked around~ fighting Slaneesh, just as he believed he could find an opening to escape, Khorne showed up, literally did the "Nothing personel kid" move and punted him into Slaneesh with such force Khaine shattered him into thousands of tiny pieces, simultaneously rocking Slaneesh hard enough to have her start thinking.
As to why he hates the Eldar, he doesn't hate them, he is just literally filled with magma and anger to everything that isn't himself

On the whole Isha thing, Nurgle saved her from Slaanesh during the fall because he genuinely loves her.
But since this is Papa Nurgle we're talking about, ofcource he shows that love by giving her all the diseases he cooks-up and then very carefully doesn't notice when she whispers to mortals cures for all those diseases.
And yes he doesn't let her leave, but then again I'm really not sure what would happen to her if she ever left Nurgle's garden, would she just get om nommed by Slaanesh the moment she was out?

    • @profsrlojohn635

That and Nurgle is definitely the friendliest of the gods for sure. The other 3 gods require distinct hardships and services for power. Nurgle's just like "ah cool, here let me take away your feeling of pain, and great, now go spead my presents kid!". He's quite chill compared to the others since he knows he'll win in the end, so why be especially violent or agressive about it? He can afford to indulge the more positive side of his nature that the others can't as easily.

Wraithbone is basically plastic, except it's made using the metacreativity discipline of psionics, so it can look in many different ways and have all these neat properties.
It can just be a wall, but with power conduits made of crystal that is part of the wall, or a sword that works like a force weapon, or pretty much anything else you can imagine.
You can even make wraithbone that has sort of like a negative charge, so it works kind of like a blank, but only the Dark Eldar do this.
The product is called "tortured wraithbone", so yeah... I imagine them strapping a chunk of wall to a rack and just going at it with flensing knives, but the truth is probably far more horrible than that.

One thing that helps with understanding the fall of the Eldar, the Dark Eldar, and the Craftworlds adherence to the paths is simply how the Eldar mind is different than a human's. While the books claim that Eldar feel emotions more strongly or are more intelligent than humans, there hasn't been much actual evidence of this being true to the extent anywhere near as much as they claim it to be. However, what does seem to be the case is that they are incredibly efficient at learning and retaining skills, especially from multiple different disciplines, as well as how said different disciplines can be combined to compliment each other. Another way to look at it is to think of various inventive and passionate artists and creators who practice in multiple fields and came up with ways to blend them together in interesting ways, but instead of being relatively rare (say one-in-a-hundred or one-in-a-thousand).they make up 50% of the population, and in the case of the pre-fall Eldar had practically infinite amount of time and resources for their own passion projects, to say the least, it got more than a little over the top. An excellent example of this is star-riding, a popular sport amongst the Eldar before the fall, basically the Eldar would put on high-tech spacesuits or devices and wait near a star, and when said star emitted a large enough solar flare, the riders would literally ride said flare into space while doing crazy stunts and racing each other along the way. This society built on over-the-top sports, unprecedented spectacle, and unfettered displays of creativity sowed the metaphorical seeds that lead to pleasure cults, "ass-knifing", and Dark Eldar as a whole, and is a.major reason why even today, Slaanesh is strongly associated with art, the honing of skill, and the pursuit of perfection. The Craftworlders follow the paths to focus all their attention to honing one skill at a time, and disassociate the paths so they don't get tempted to mix them, with there being some indication that it isn't really a healthy way for them to function as a society, and is a major sticking point preventing the Craftworld Eldar from getting along with the other Eldar factions.

Dark Eldar vastly outnumber Craftworlders, they don't have problems with the sexy times and absolutely no problem with cloning. In fact so many of the Dark-Eldar are actually vat-grown that the ones born naturally are forming a Elite in their society called Trueborns that are usually high ranking Cabal members or leaders. There is also no real size to Commorragh as it is a construct within the Webway that has portals to entire different parts of the galaxy that are within pocket dimensions again and it's kinda mindbreaking to to think about Commorragh, they can just catch Suns into pocket dimensions and put them into their "skies" if they need more light and shit like that. They easily number in the trillions, they just don't care that much about anything in the realspace and just do their own shit.
Also Bricky kinda undersold the Eldar here tbh, the "Masks" and the Paths they wield are usually a hyperfocus of their mind - so if an Eldar feels the call of Khaine they walk the Path of the Warrior and join one of the Aspect Shrines on their Craftworld, they become Aspect warriors and are now capable of wearing the Warmasks (its not a literal mask it's like putting on a different personality) that they put on when they are about to fight, it makes them hyperfocused on combat and allows them to outfight Space Marines in melee etc. If someone is not capable of putting off the Warmask anymore (after the fight), because either they walked the path of the warrior for too long or fate just kinda decides it, they become an Exarch and go on to found their own Shrine of Aspect Warriors. But it's not just the Path of the Warrior, it can be the path of the cook so that Eldar walks that path and becomes a fucking gourmet chef, maybe he walks the path of the painter and puts out the next Eldar version of the Mona Lisa.
And Farseers have a very specific task in battle and that is essentially being support combat psykers, they can tell the future and minimize casualties by having an aura around them that lets the other Eldar also have little glimpses of the future and dodge bullets, blades etc. which makes them very hard to kill in the lore. They also change Paths multiple times during their lifetimes, so maybe you seen an Eldar civilian that is now a gardener that used to be a Dark Reaper Aspect Warrior.

Bricky. Bricky! I'm gonna be one of those guys! The secret for Harlequins is that the moment they pledge themselves to Cegorach, Big Bad Cego basically claims their soul in a way similar to Slaanesh; when they die, BBC gets their soul, straight up. If Slaanesh, or any of the God's, decides they want a specific Harlequin, Cegorach might step in and "play a game" to contest the claim, especially if He sees some greater use or amusement concerning them. He is the Laughing God, after all. He needs something to laugh at. If he loses, his opponent gets them. This is all old lore, so there might be changes or it's all gone into the Retconnian. Also, the cat things' name is pronounced "guy-rinks."

Originally it was believed that Ynnead would be born when all of the Eldar are killed; however Eldrad Ulthran in his sneaky shittiness sped up the clock on this by gathering the crystallized Farseers from multiple Craftworlds for a ritual to summon Ynnead. Though it was stopped by the Deathwatch it partially was successful causing Ynnead to slightly coalesce as a newborn god where around the same time he reached out to Yvraine leading to the founding of the Ynnari.

@@alexanderthegreat6682 Yeah basically what Eldrad did was, while working with the Harlequins he smuggled the crystalized forms of all the Craftworlds most powerful seers and performed a ritual on a moon containing a dust that enhances psychic phenomena and did the ritual which caused all the Craftworlds Infinity Circuits to synchronize; speeding up the clock on Ynnead so he came sooner rather than later

Being an Eldar fan is so exhausting. Not only does GW constantly crap all over them but almost any 40k fan you talk to craps all over Eldar too.
You can talk to anyone about the Imperium, or Traitor Legions, or Orks or Necrons, but you bring up Eldar and people just heckle you until you shutup.
