    Sorry, but I tried this razor and it was disappointing for me. It does shave close, but it was a little bit too close for comfort and on the ATG pass it gave me about 5 to 7 nicks and cuts. In my opinion a much better choice as a GOAT razor would be the Karve Overlander. It shaves super close, it’s autopilot easy and virtually nick and cut free. Another great option is the Leaf Twig, which shaves great too, and costs even less. Don’t just take my word for it, check out the reviews.

    I've been using a Rex Razor American made slant razor for a month now. It's called the Sentry razor. It's made out of Stainless steel and has some heft to it. The problem with a light razor is you have to press harder to get a close shave. With The Sentry you just touch your face with the proper angle and let the weight of the razor do the work. Less passes = less irritation. I suggest you give it a try. They also make an adjustable slant razor called the Konsul which is cool but very pricey.

    • @AdamWoody-q4n
      @AdamWoody-q4n Месяц назад

      There can be a problem with a heavy razor too by putting too much pressure. I like light razors or balanced razors because they are easy to gauge that myself. Besides all of that the rex razors might be high quality but the price for me is just too much.

    I like PAA and their products as well. My favorite razor from them has to be the Ascension Select double open comb razor. $50, but it's very smooth but still efficient and does the job well. Safety razors really are the better way to shave, IMO.

  • @Waldemarvonanhalt
    @Waldemarvonanhalt 7 месяцев назад

    IMO the Ascension is PAA's GOAT. It's such an easy razor to use and has good efficiency (hair removal ability), without having a lot of blade feel or anything unpleasant. It's what some might call being on autopilot.

    It looks interesting, but I don't think any safety-razor can shave as perfectly and cost-efficient as my Merkur Mk34c with Voskhod double edge razors. I tried less-than-stellar razors for decades, but stopped looking after I found this combo. Okay, I tried a couple other safety razors and blades...but no more.
    On a side note, I also use a straight razor, but only for occasional beard maintenance. I do enjoy shaving with a straight razor, but I just don't have time to keep up with the honing. Sad, but true.

    Okay, busy day but I just watched the video. You know, I tried all those dual, triple, quadruple, fifthtumple, whatever cartridge systems. Most sucked, but a few were okay and lasted and lasted quite a while even though the replacement cartridges were locked-up behind the register and required taking-out a home equity line of credit to afford a replacement pack. Moreover, they always managed to cancel the one's that actually seemed to work and the blades lasted many shaves. I guess Gillette and Schick realized they couldn't schtick it to customers hard and often enough. Bastards! When we moved to TX in 2018 I tossed-away dozens of razors and cartridge systems.
    I finally gave in and purchased the shaver my grandfather used for 50+ years - a Merkur safety-razor and blades. It works great and I change each double-edge blade monthly - that's it. Having said this...I'm not intrigued about the razors from PAA. To be honest, they look stupid as hell (like something a 16-year old would use)...and they look like they're made to slice 'n dice one's face to pieces. But what the heck...they're not expensive, and I'll give it a try. We shall see. Ordered the Phantom Blue.

      I'm not someone who is normally attracted to colorful razors either, but on a whim, I bought this thinking it couldn't be that bad for $26, and it blew me away! I like any safety razor better than normal cartridges, but the slant on this razor made a huge difference.

    • @jimr880
      @jimr880 Год назад +1

      @@BeastMadeReviews This razor is a clear-winner over those overpriced cartridge systems, no doubt. Likewise, it gives a great shave (equal to or perhaps better than my Merkur safety razor). My complaint is with the weight, which makes is more difficult to shave close in that under the ear-neck-chin (I'm sure this area has a name - LOL) and at the base of the neck under the adams appple. The weight of the Merkur just naturally sinks down into the flesh and shaves it just right. Also, I can only get half-as-many shaves as my Merkur razor before having to change the blade. What I do (works for me) is use an electric razor for a quick 30-second stubble shave. Then shave with a safety razor. It just makes shaving easier and saves my face. I can literally use my Merkur razor for a month or more before feeling like the blade needs to be replaced. I'm sure the weight of the razor is a factor, which is why I would love to see PAA make a more substantive razor. We shall see.
      Also, would love to see you review Beast Made Electric Razors and Beard Trimmers. There are so many shitting products out there, and so many dudes suffer because they won't pay the money for beast made quality. Far cheaper in the long run...and far better shaves. Cheers.

    I really wanted to believe the hype (GOAT!) and was looking forward to a new shaving experience. When I received the razor I immediately regretted it as $26 for a flimsy piece of plastic spoke volumes of what was to come. After my first (and only) shave, my face looked like a warzone. I've been shaving for a long time and this by far was the best advertisement for expensive 5 blade razors. I now realize they are not an expense but an investment - in me. I upgraded to another 5 blade level and shaved this morning with it. What a delight! I ordered 6 months of blade refills on-line to avoid the store security apparatus and threw the GOAT razor in the trash. You went all in on that and I give you credit for leading with your face (pun intended) BUT I'm quite confident it won't be in your shaving kit this time next year.

      Hype? There was no hype in this video, my friend. I don't know what razor you got, but it wasn't from PAA. I've had three razors from them and all of them have been fantastic. I've already been using this razor for almost a year, and I can only recommend it even more than I did at first. If you had a bad experience, maybe it was user error. There's absolutely no reason your face would be worse off using this razor, unless you used a bad razor blade to start with (user error). If you enjoy a $60 cartridge shaver with $30 monthly refills, I'm happy for you. You do you.

    My Blue Beast (whatever they called it) arrived today. Offhand, the razor is super-light and came packaged in comically looking box, which I immediately tossed in the trash. I want the razor and not a marketing campaign. The razor is pricy for a such a lightweight piece of plastic, but what the heck. Gotta be careful when loading the spring-loaded twisty razor (was thinking I was going to slice my fingers) but you have be careful and mindful and not just drop it in and tighten it like my heavy Merkur razor. Also, I didn't care for how it unscrewed from the top instead of the bottom like pretty much ever straight-razor I've ever used.
    Anyway, the shave (what really matters) was quite good. Was it better than my heafty Merkur shaver? No, but I must say it was on-par...and I wasn't expecting much and I was actually thinking it would nick my face a time or two. No, just a clean smooth slave - no issues.
    Also, because it was so light I found it more difficult to shave and outline around the beard (something about using a beefy razor around a beard that I like). But it still did a good job. Will it replace my Merkur razor? No, but that's actually a good thing. I workout quite a bit at the gym, so around 10% of shaves are from the gym on those days I have to drive into the office. On those days I carry around my Merkur razor, but I'm always afraid I'm going to misplace it or forget to pack it in my gym bag. I've almost purchased a 2nd Merkur razor, but it's an expensive backup option.
    So this works-out perfectly and it's going to be my gym razor. Overall...very satisfied with the purchase...just hope the razor is durable like my Merkur, which I've been using for about a dozen years. Time will tell. Cheers.

      @@BeastMadeReviews I've had time to shave with this razor 3 or 4 times. At first, I thought this razor was going to cut my face worse than someone having a self-mutilation disorder. The razor is so light it reminded me of all those youthful blood-letting times spent with the BIC Disposable Razor. I cringe! However, each shave has been as good or better than my famed Merkur mk34c. So no complaints...but I'll complain anyway, because it's my nature. LOL!
      I appreciate the heft of the Merkur razor because it's heavy and just falls effortlessly downward along the contour of my face. It feels like the razor is doing all the work. It's more of a raise and let fall motion as opposed to having to guide the razor along the contours of my face. As mentioned, the only real issue is shaving around facial hair...but great shave, no doubt.
      Now, if only they would make a "Heavy" model....it would be perfect.

    Sorry but your recommendation of this razor is completely inaccurate. Reviews and videos of it show that if you fo not unscrew the head at mostly to release all blade bowing pressure between uses after a while it can start cracking thr top cap. Yes its normal to slightly unscrew or open razors to allow them to dry but this is silly.
    Listen im new to traditional wet shaving a few months but ive learned much. I inherited and started with a gillette 1958 flare which i love and a 1963 gillette slim adjustsble which im getting used to. I bought a fatip lo storto slant. Its my favorite. Its better in almost every practical way. Has weight for balance, 100% core metal of brass handle and head with plating made to lsst a life time, could be replated as all metal, great grip but comfortable and smooth but medium effectiveness. Mine is closed comb BUT acts as semi open comb with teeth that does similar to the PAA.
    If your big hang up is price you didnt shop around enough. Here are just a handful of respectable but metal slants in same price range. My fatip can be similar price. Some of these are actually cheaper. There is almost no reason to use a plastic body razor especially on a slant putting additional tension on it.

      I've had this razor for a long time and haven't had any issue with it. I still stand behind everything that I've said. Of course, with a plastic razor, you can't torque down the head. But that should be common sense. This is a $25 razor, which is why I can honestly say this is the best value for a high quality razor that I've ever seen. I think you inherited a great razor, but it's an apples to oranges comparison. If you like that more than this, I'm happy for you. Enjoy it. But if you have no experience with this razor, maybe just save your comments instead of try to tell me that I don't know anything about it.

      I did watch it all. I watched because it was a razor I'd seen on reviews, videos, online stores and PAAs site and think looks cool. Also watched because of your GOAT claim.
      The issue I have is the goat claim which you do not qualify which would literally invalidate what goat means. If you had said "best $25 plastic slant" I and others wouldn't because you qualified it. It still would have been a catchy title and I still would have watched it.
      In debate it's very important to present the major opposing positions and admit what you agree with and dont and state why even with opposing views one agrees with why your stance is better.
      I presented you with alternatives and one i use to the PAA plastic slants in the same price range and reasons why some may prefer them and some objective advantages of Metal vs plastic. You present very little proof to your goat claim besides price and you like it. Since qualify it not in title with $25 you should if you have present why this is better than those in that price range you have used. Greatest Of All Time. Is a pretty absolute statement and should be very easy to justify. Yours by not just mine but others object to your claim as exaggerated, hyped, click bait and as your getting an affiliate link $ a Tainted review swayed very obviously by you parroting but not for $25 to most counter arguments with valid points.

    0:10 I'll never understand why people say "price point"... what the hell is that? for centuries we've called the price of something the price. Then about 10 years ago someone thought it would sound smarter to add the word "point' to make themselves sound smarter. Since the beginning of time: "We review quality and difference prices" vs in the last decade: "we review quality at different price points"

    • @BeastMadeReviews
      @BeastMadeReviews  9 месяцев назад

      If you googled it, you would have your answer: "Price point and price are two different concepts. Price is the actual amount of money given in exchange for a product/service. Price point, on the other hand, is a point on a scale of possible prices for a product."

      But you are actually mistaken about that. A product at a certain quality will have a specific price point, and increasing or decreasing the quality of that product will place it at a different price point. There are certain thresholds for price at a given quality per product, and that’s why I use “price point” and not “price”. It’s more specific about the topic.

    • @kennygee2715
      @kennygee2715 9 месяцев назад

      How did we get by for centuries without this term? Suddenly around 2008 we have been enlightened and have a new corporate buzzword that has so much meaning, it can be replaced with price. Price point does not specify any quality. Price is very fluid, unless you are referring to the prices of your own line of products. Lets say you are apple and you sell three tablets: one at $300, another at $400, and a third at $500. These are price points for apple. they are actual points. However if you are talking about tablets in general, some will be $279, some will be $299, some will be $549. It's a floating scale and there are no points (or a very high number of points). But in any case, if you have three tablets at the three mentioned prices, you could just say they are three different prices, and forget about attempting to look smart by adding the jargon. @@BeastMadeReviews

    • @BeastMadeReviews
      @BeastMadeReviews  9 месяцев назад

      @@kennygee2715 the term actually began in 1894. I guess I'm just old school.
      As for the definition, Apple is a great example of proving my point. They have different prices for different types of computers. The actual prices might fluctuate some based on sales or what have you, but each computer is sold to meet a certain price point. And if the prices change on one of the computers, the range of prices on the others might be out of balance, because this shifted the range of prices within the price point scale. Prices are the final outcome, while price points are goals within the spectrum of prices.
