Alright, time for the author comment :D
First off, thank you so much for playing this. Glad you enjoyed it and that i apparently made you sweat haha (i consider this an accomplishment of some sort). That pegasus impression had me in tears btw.
Now, on to the actual map itself.
So, this version you played is a huge update to the already released "man on the moon" map (in 2018). I decided to update both this and its prequel (travelling to the moon in 2016) as part of a celebration to the announcement of the third and final installement earlier this year.
The original map took me roughly 2 years to make (on and off). I like to take my sweet time heh. The update took me two months.
The main inspiration was indeed skillsaw's moon episode in valiant and, according to your comments, i guess i made a good job at that haha.
Watching the cyberdemon in the red section being cheesed like that was trully something i haden't really thought about but heh, it's too late now haha. That secret actually, is a nod to travelling to the moon (the first map) where you also could hit a secret switch before entering thr red building to reveal a megasphere inside of it.
The rocket ship you can see at the begining of the map is the one you leave travelling to the moon with. I added it to this update for continuation sake :D
The status bar is a modified version of the valiant stat bar (with skillsaw's permission of course).
The final fight is doable with the plasma gun although, it is indeed pretty hard (if not rng based).
On to the boss now
There were 2 (the second one is here on coop in this version) of those bosses originally but, considering they have a hitscan attack, they kept infighting eachother lol. I lowered their health from 7000 to 6000 for this version. It was quite sad to see him go fast like that but heh, it is what it is lol. Basically, he has 2 attacks: the spidermastermind hitscan and, a continuous revenant missile shooter. Finally, if you notice, the chaingunner skin is some sort of foreshadowing to the boss (the helmet they wear is the same).
Finally, one little detail about that "sliding door". It is indeed done by insta lowering floors but, i also added to control sector doors opening next to them to mimick the sound of the door opening. In the 2018 version, there was only one linedef to open the whole thing but, it was too abrupt so now, it's basically 3 linedefs in quick succesion for the effect to be more natural i guess.
Also, you mentioned those midtextures as a ceiling in the big bridge section. There's no specific trick, it's just midtextures raised to ceiling heights haha.

This is indeed a sick map. Its nice to see a map with such a huge enemy count that isn't just circle strafing around hell knight/revenant hordes. And it's absolutely gorgeous as well.

Red cyber cheese is not really obvious for first-timers. Quite surprising that escaping post-bfg fight so easily was allowed though.
Decino is like the Bob Ross of Doom playthroughs.

I remember playing the original version of this map. The green key was required and the BFG was in the blue key area. The end fight had two bosses instead of just one. I recommend giving that version a try. I also highly recommend playing Traveling To The Moon, which is a prequel to Man On The Moon.
Yeah, in hindsight, i'm still glad i made this update because that version had some obscure progression in it :D
And agreed on travelling (obviously, the new version too) though, i may be slightly biased here haha

Those pinkies killing the cyberdemon was an epic treat!
You should do an analysis video on why cyberdemons and spider masterminds get stuck when pinkies are biting them to death. I don't understand how this works, and it'd be nice to know.

The pinkie or imp literally get stuck inside of the mama, and because she has a solid object stuck inside of her, she can't move or do anything

I can't estimate how much time and effort it takes to built such a big map that functions well and keep a player interested and excited for an hour or even longer, if you are not such a brilliant player like decino is.

I've recently stopped watching your videos on my phone and I always watch on my computer screen now with speaker monitors. Makes for a much more enjoyable experience and you can even see on the dark levels now! And these longer levels feel like mini movies :)
If you watch enough decino, you'll eventually see a pinky take out a Cyberdemon.

This is one of the most amazing map pack i ever since in recent memory, it beautifully detailed even from the appearance and appeal it self yugiboy50 you my men are a work of art.

The elevator sound is from Quake isn't it? Fits perfectly to this map, I love it! Also some switches are from Duke Nukem 3D also looks pretty cool. And the MIDI is a masterpiece!

I just rage quit BTSX map 24 after one and a half hours worth of attempts and just in time for the upload. Now I gotta relax a bit and get filled with doom-god power from decino

Bruh, I just started on BTSX EP2 after finishing EP1 and it starts off with like five more-difficult-than-they-should-be maps. I know that pain my friend.

this map is a work of art; the map itself is stunning, the lighting in particular really adds to the ambience of the map, dark and brooding, and i love the use of lighting in particular areas suggesting the magenta planet is the only natural source of the light for the little moonbase doomguy is purging. the monster placement/fights are brilliant, challenging without being just standard "circle-strafe-to-win" scenarios, the level of detail in the entire thing is phenomenal, and the layout of the map is so believable it really adds to the immersion of the map.
i'll say it again; work of art.

wow, i've just played this map in september, and i've found it randomly. i've decided to open a random map on doomword (for some kind of challenge, so to say), without any reserch, reading about, looking at screenshots, etc., downloaded it, and it was this one. i liked it, but i wasn't expecting to see a video about it on your channel, especially so soon.
(still watching, just gotta say this right now)
From the sound picks for map effects, Yugiboy was inspired by Ancient Aliens above all else, with Lunatic as a close second.
Also, hell yeah, Gutter Penny! Outstanding music pick for an epic high-tech map!

It’s been a year since I started watching you already (and since I got into Doom)! Time flies.
Decino is honestly the last channel I regularly follow that I expected to make a YuGiOh reference.
I don't watch twitch, I don't usually enjoy watching people playing games. But I enjoy this channel so much, it brings me back to playing and watching my friends play doom when I was young. I don't even watch other doom players. Thanks for the content.

So this was brilliant got massive valiant vibes and the other one you mentioned which was really good absolutely loved the map itself the lay out the fact that you have to earn those goodies Which is a really good way of doing it rather than just picking up those power ups or weapons no you earn those things definitely a fan of that the reskins on the chaingunners yeah that really fits well with them the fights were really good definitely looks like a lot of fun this map didn't seem to confusing as well which is good to see some larger maps can be confusing on where to go next but this one seems to have nailed it perfectly that boss fight at the end was interesting I wasn't expecting that some heavy armour dude to fight but still pretty cool. with that as always cheers for upload decino

Decino long-plays, my favorite past-time!
The best tech base map so far. I love aesthetics especially sounds of the lifts - so fat and loud that almost I can smell grease and oil of it's hydraulics.
These are e tech lift sounds from Quake 1, and they are _juicy._ I even ripped them for use in my own sound packs.
These lift sounds, the slow doors from Duke Nukem 3D, the fast doors from RTC-3057, and the "crusher" sound from Daedalus Alien Defense's machinery are all in one single package that I call Ancient Aliens Map Sound Suite. NGL, it's the sound pack I'm proudest of 🤓
That lost soul face rocket at 29:30 was a full 128 damage. Ouch

The switch on 19:10 reminded me of Duke Nukem 3D, i played that game when i was a kid. Ahhh the good ol' days.
Those were some ballsy chaingunners that popped out after a few hundred imps had been eradicated. Great ending battle and loved the Archie punch-out at the end!
