I’m in SoCal but will be retiring to Florida in a couple of years. (Don’t worry, I won’t Californiacate the place. I’ll be fleeing!!). Been fly fishing the salt here for many years. A lot in the surf and the kayak in harbors and such. I’ve been having a harder time sitting in a kayak for longer periods as I get older. I had to do something different and started on the paddle board recently. You are right about bote. They are awesome. I just got an HD aero bugslinger. It’s an awesome platform. I would recommend the tackle rack. You can hang a bag on it and keep two rods in it. And everything is off the deck. I wear a web belt and leash the paddle to it. That way I can drop the paddle and not lose it. Also, don’t have to bend over to pick up the paddle. We dont have the really shallow water here. So sometime I wear flippers and sit sideways and maneuver against the wind and tide. Can’t cast as far but it’s not that big a deal. Plus we’re fishing off the bottom. I’ve done some fishing in Florida last couple of years. It’s like the perfect place for paddleboards.
I’ve been fishing from a rackham for 6 years, newly converted to fly only. I use my sand spear a lot. I don’t use the hole in the board though. You’re right, it makes way too much noise. I just tether it to the board and stake it ground next to me.

Very good review. I've been looking at BOTE for fly fishing. Love to wade fish.
