Love this dialogue! I was researching barefoot shoes recently, in a similar theme. I personally am skeptical of this claim as it’s easy to pick and choose a few studies to support your claims… BUT… There is ample science-backed evidence that being in nature, particularly in the absence of human distractions (tech, industry, et al.) lowers cortisol response and reduces rumination. So hiking and being in nature will nurture your soul and if you’re barefoot, great! But you’ll benefit with full footwear, too. 😃
For the most part, absolutely! I would hate to see people that are trying to save money or struggling to pay bills buy something that has no or little value when you can always go outside barefoot for free! Since buying them, i've been grounding every day but mostly barefoot in fear that these shoes actually don't work..theres no way for us to really know if they are truly conducting energy or blocking. But at the end of the day, getting outside is key and whatever it takes to do that!! So your right, no harm in that at all!!!! xo
I'm very interested if you feel or see any of the benefits from using the Earthing shoes! You talked about rubber not being able to conduct electricity and how modern shoes may not send those energies to your feet. When I looked at the Amazon link to the Earthing shoes you purchased, I noticed the description of the sole material said "synthetic rubber". If that's true, then I wonder if the product would actually bring the benefits the seller is claiming Earthing has. Also, the smell you got from the shoes makes me think that the faux leather or rubber is not of high quality. These shoes look like Birkenstocks and there are many places where someone could source a cheaper dupe to sell at a lower price point (especially now since Birkenstocks are a trendy, higher end shoe brand). I've seen dupes for Birkenstocks at Target and Walmart, but I bet you could find dupes on Temu and Shein too. It wouldn't surprise me if the experience is a placebo effect and the company just selling snake oil!
Yes, this is all very possible that its just snake oil! That's the big questions..I'll be really honest, Ive been grounding/earthing almost every day but barefoot -only because I like the way it feels and for the reasons you wrote above. What if the shoes are actually also blocking any benefits and not living up to the claims? I'm going to take my time with this, doing barefoot for now and then I'll try the shoes regularly over the summer (when the ground starts to get really buggy, haha). For sure, Ill make a follow up video on this! But in the meantime, try barefoot!!!

Agree!!! At the very least...being out in nature and being connected to the earth is always feels good! So there is never harm in this.

Would also add that there is no harm in purchasing products that encourage you to be outside… that’s where the magic is!
