S3E1 was a masterpiece. So I don’t really care about the discussion of whether S3 was not as good as S1/S2. Just this one episode for me is why the Bear is an outstanding Series. Period.

I felt like they were experimenting a bit with the writing & the way it was shot in season 3 (the season didn't feel as consistent as previous ones), but the Fak stupidity really detracts from the tone of the show. It would have been much stronger without them and would have given more screen time to develop some of the more interesting characters.

The Faks really ended up feeling like what Jar Jar Binks was to the prequels (admittedly to a far lesser extent)

I think the start of S2, that “long” scene where Marcus is in the hospital and gently takes care of his mother is what they end up doing in S3.
For me S3 focus parts ways from the dishes or the kitchen, and rests in the people.
It question itself what is really important, and bets on the human conection and interaction. Tries to reflect on reallity where sometimes seems like not much happends, but in fact, it does happen.
“The people don´t really remember the food. Remember the people” -Chef Terry
This season reminded me to apreciate more the little -and maybe silly- things in life. Talking to each other. Share a joke. Asking for help/advise. Sharing a personal history. Being gentle. Being present. All those things we very often overlook.
If Carmy and the restaurant are the “main dish” of the series depeloment, this season is about the enhancing the dish complements. Every little thing is enhanced and gain the relevance it deserves.
(Hope i made myself clear. Not an native english speaker here.)

You make a good point, I agree with the sentiment that people come first in the show since the characters are great, but I do agree with those who say this part is lacking compared to season 2 for example.

S3 feels like cruising around in the world of a video game after finishing the main storyline.

Weirdly enough, I found season 3 to be favorite yet. I mean, I totally understand why people didn't like it. It was quite experimental with its writing and storytelling. But that's why I loved it. The entire crew had already accomplished so much with the first two. This season, to me, felt like it got really down and dirty with the heavier concepts like "is this really worth it?" And the sheer pain and madness that can come from trying to create at the top of your field. Both on a story level and perhaps in the real world of making the show. It's just something I deeply resonated with. It was cathartic and painful. Though I did not consider the fak problem, but after hearing you talk about it: wow! 😂
I do agree though, the next season will be quite telling as to how this series shapes out in totality.

I can see your perspective, it does feel like they were trying to delve deep into the cost of success. I remember the scene in season 2 where Carmy and Syd talk about the Michelin star, and he knew that it will be a tough road but he was willing to do it for Syd, even though he doesn't care about the star. So the "is this really worth it" or "is this really what you want" angle feels like a good read on the direction they went for. And it's definitely hard to discard the whole season, because certain episodes were among the best.

Maybe I need to see Season 3 again, but I enjoyed it. I literally binge watched the entire 3 seasons in less than a week! Lol. I liked a lot of the individual stories like seeing Richard shine, but I really enjoyed Tina's and Marcus' storylines. I also enjoyed seeing Carmy face up to his anxiety and trauma. I think you are right that the restaurant did not progress much for the sake of character development. I know a lot of celebrities want to guest star on the show, and it is good for ratings, however I hope it does not distract from quality of the show. One thing I appreciated about Season 3 is how it showed how near impossible it is to get a restaurant up and running - all the obstacles. Having worked in restaurants I use much of what happened in Season 3 to defend restaurants when patrons complain solely based on price.

It feels like the grinding of giving a new season of the show as fast as apossible every time, really draws them back in quality, not just The Bear, most of the shows suffer from this pressure. The visuals look bette, but maybe is the writing lacking this time. Overall still great. Love the videos, keep doing them.

    Great read of season 3.
What was exciting about the Season 1 was that there was hope, and passion, and love interwoven into every scene, all based on or around the restaurant. Despite all the negative things happening around the characters, you wanted the best for them because you could see the intention and care that they all individually had for a vision of the future. You are pulled in by their excitement, and the depth of their characters was hinted at, but not fully on display.
Season 2 separates them; fractures and compartmentalizes their stories/struggles into individual digestible segments. We see individual progress, rather than group growth. The heart of the restaurant is ripped away, so the writers had to create something else to engage us. We get more personal with the side characters, while interesting and important in their own right, I would argue the character's themselves are not the life-blood if the show, its the restaurant. Some parts felt contrived, even forced, where in season 1 they felt logical and seamless.
Season 3 struggles looping all of that back in onto itself with the grand opening. You want to see motion, common goals, and logical conversations that would follow with the drama that was just placed in our laps at the height of season 2. Instead we got an interim season, which rarely inspires, and feels like the skip-step filler to get to the (hopefully) crux of what season 4 is going to be about -- fixing the mess Carmy has made of the people in his circle, the ones we have spent so much time with and care about deeply.
Disfunction of the restaurant is what makes "The Bear" great, but we need it to be driving, versus stagnating. Let's hope the team can keep innovating while still providing all those amazing and nuanced stories that are rarely seen on TV these days!

Man, how do you find those movie scenes, documentaries, and interviews you use in your videos? I want to start making videos about cinema too. Can you help me out?

Watched the first episode of season 3 and couldn't continue. You can feel the show becoming more and more self-important. At this point, I'd rather rewatch Chef's Table episodes

S1 & S2 Felt like there was a plot and then a solution. Like they could’ve just stopped after S1 or S2 and it would’ve been just fine (I say great).
Although S3 feels like it’s dragging on. It feels like filler. Like it’s dragging on. It just doesn’t feel the same as the first two seasons. It’s not bad, but just not as good as I was expecting it to be.
I think they could’ve executed better if Part 2 of S3 would release before the year ends. It would make it feel less like filler.
