it's really a shame to get a french car and not get diesel. They have the most realiable diesel engines 1.6hdi and 1.5 dci are so cheap to run and so reliable
It´s funny you had a can of oil in the trunk similarly as i have a big (5 litre) one too..xD This prince engine is prone to consume some oil sometimes..^^
If you want to continue making videos like this please have a second camera recording the rpm an speed or have yours mounted lower so we can also see relevant information about speed and rpm. Otherwise it's useless. Just like if I was in the passenger seat.
These engines are known for problems with timing chain and oil consumption due to weak piston rings. I would advise to check compression and consider engine maintenance, as excessive oil consumption may cause further consequences like destroyed catalyst.

Hi! My son wants to buy a second hand Peugeot 308 manufactured in 2010...... I am not very keen of European cars compared to Japanese cars as the spare parts are expensive here in Malaysia and I heard that Peugeot 308 is not a reliable car especially engine wise. But the car is beautiful no doubt.
1.6 litre with 150hp is very unreliable engine with lot of problems with carbon and engine chain. 1.6 litre with 120hp is a whole different story. Reliable, just little bit sensitive to quality of petrol - it needs additives. But it drives awesome, quite pleasant engine sound, no turbo, no direct injection - very responsive engine.
The built quality is not that great that is true, it was made by bmw after all. I have 2013 308sw with the 1.6vti engine at 115000km now. On top of oil changes and coolant change So far i've had to change plugs, coils, cam sensors and some fuel injector cleaner to the tank when cold idle became messed up. So nothing major yet fortunately. Bright side is at least it is more reliable then the later thp version or the tiny new turbo charged 3 sylinder "engines", i wouldn't touch those at all.

The HDi engines are reliable! THP engines on the other hand aren't that reliable
Perhaps get a Volkswagen instead. Those parts are easier to get in Asia

@@imrileth6618 the 3 pot engine has proven to been extremely reliable, was produced 2013 onwards and cost 620 million to develop.
