    Most people will fall in one of two camps: 1) Those who react solely on fear (the "don't let anyone inside, they might be sick" types), or 2) The calm, rational ones who see the actual things that are actually happening and making decisions based off that (the Ving Rhames character).

    If one of the themes is about gun control, then it's moronic and the idiots in charge failed. Amazing movie, but guns are necessary for a hundred different reasons. Hunting, protecting your family, self defense, fighting invaders, defending your nation from tyrannical government (the ones who want to take your guns), and in the case of this movie, defending your life from zombies.

This movie has become a modern classic to me because the original hit on our materialistic exisistants in the 70's and how we had at that point disenfranchised ourselves with other's. While the remake was all about how we have, as you said, has become all about the individual and not the group. Both are a great look back at a problem that we were as a society were going threw.

    Eh.
    I don't think I'm ever going to stop hating Snyder's Dawn of the Dead.
    Even ignoring all the weird, for lack of a better word, "Snyderisms", (why the *fuck* is there a horror sting over a Muslim prayer ceremony in the intro), I just... Cannot stand seeing Dawn being turned into an action movie. It feels like it's missing the whole point.
    The bikers in the original Dawn of the Dead are the bad guys. They show up with their flash, and pomp, and action, and they mess everything up because they're too fucking stupid to just sit back, and think, and listen.
    Snyder's film is nothing *but* a constant stream of action, pomp and flash. It feels like Snyder watched the original Dawn, took nothing away from it, and then made an empty imitation of a masterpiece.
    There's some personal stuff mixed in there, too. I'm a prose writer, not really a filmmaker, but Dawn has been a huge inspiration for how I write a lot of what I write. The quiet contemplation, even amid disaster, is something I strive to emulate in a lot of what I write. To feel Snyder throw it away feel like a personal slight.

    Good video but I wouldn’t say it was ahead of its time, or was particularly special. It’s a decent remake or reimagining that I’ll watch once in a while if I just want to watch something and shut my brain off, but Night, Dawn and Day are not only entertaining, but also have great and meaningful messages and symbolism behind them. I feel as if they were more ahead of their time.

    There is more to Nicole’s dangerous move then most people realize, in perspective did the zombies ignore the dog? Yes… but did she know that? No, listen to what Kenneth says and not what he sees, and you will understand better why she reacted… he is vague when he said “they got him”… her fear now becomes a reality… not justifying her response but I understand it

      Agreed. Most of the people praising this film are millennials who have never seen the original or who are too young to enjoy the original because they think it’s “dated” or “too slow” Sure you’ll have the occasional older person who will try to reply to comments like mine, and to mix things up they’ll say “I’m older and like the remake better” okay good for you, however the remake is not ahead of its time, Dawn laid the ground work. If it weren’t for Dawn 1978 there would be no remake.

    Andy seemed to me as a prepper that was anti government, my first thought wouldn't have been that he is hungry and the character wasn't as developed as he should've been in my opinion. And just like with the "pandemic" that we are going through, his health is his problem. He had a brain and could've asked for help. Don't take this as a bash though, you're points and views are great and we should all be able to converse like this without getting butt hurt.

    • @Nerdynomicon
      @Nerdynomicon  2 года назад +1

      No that's an interesting POV on him. And there are elements that I originally saw that support the "prepper" and "anti-govt" aspect. Especially in the film proper, he isn't really characterized at all. It was only in the supplemental material. Which is a damn shame. Too many films leave the good stuff on the side or the floor.
      As to your last part, I didn't take it as a bash at all. Not in the slightest. I LOVE having discussions and debates through the lens of pop culture. There's nothing wrong with conversation or having differing opinions. I only ask people to think. Like ACTUALLY think. So... Yea, I didn't take anything negative from anything you said. The things you pointed out are valid.
