Ooh! I can understand you getting some things wrong as you're new to Splatoon, as I was back in 2022, and now I feel as though I play as much Splatoon as you do Fortnite. (0:30) Yeah!! (1:00) I can understand, and I do remember that some of the things that helped me were not only watching replays of matches and switching to the perspectives of winning players to see what their play styles were, but also Splatoon fan RUclipsrs, and reading articles on Inkipedia (fansite) when needed. I also would often check current stage rotations on SplatNet 3 before loading up the game in order to avoid play modes I'm not good at. (1:24) I'm guessing the stage you'd recreate would be ‘Scorch Gorge’, as that seems to be the iconic or key stage for Splatoon 3 that was shown in its key art (much like how ‘The Reef’ and ‘Urchin Underpass’ were the iconic stages for Splatoon 2 and original Splatoon respectively). (1:48) The weapon used by the Inkling girl in promo images for the game is specifically a ‘Tri-Stringer’, and the weapon class is referred to as ‘Stringer’.

I don't sculpt but I've drawn plenty of Inklings, so I'm basing this advice off what I've learned studying promotional artwork from the game. I'd say next time make the nose smaller, the small triangle is more an indication of where the nostrils/nose is facing and their noses are small and pointed but aren't meant to be super defined if you look at the 2D artwork. When drawing their eye masks I tend to draw the eyes separately (so the eye shape of the mask and then the eye itself) and then connect them with a small line to ensure the eyes sit properly on the face, not sure how well that translates into sculpting though. And it's probably better to make the chin/cheeks a little rounder, this will also let you give them their iconic toothy smile if you wanted without it looking too big for their face. You've got the game, so looking at the models themselves is a great reference. In the equip menu, when picking gear pressing ZR will let you zoom in a little and there's photo mode too, I use it all the time when drawing characters at different angles since there's lots of hidden details on the clothing and weapons. I hope this is helpful in some way! I love how Octolings are designed so I look forward to seeing you sculpting one! :D
