To get better Queen Cells drawn down (Peanut like Cells.) Do this. . .
    Tip
Get a Frame of Bees and Eggs from your best Colony.
Get your Hive Tool and 'indent' mash a few Cells below 'an Egg' so you have nothing under that Egg ! Why you ask ?
Its so when the Bees Drawn Down that Queen Cell (Peanut) it hangs down nicely, a bit like off a Cliff Edge, with nothing under it : because an Egg or Honey was mushed inwards (out of the way.)
So any Queen Cell "Created" will hang down nice and long, have no Comb or wax obstruction in the way.
Its typical to find the Bees make a QC right in a Corner, to close to the Frame edge, even back to back (so close you can't either out. . . Doh !)
Do the above Trick re QC creation several times : Say every x3 Inches or so Across, and again in another Row below say x3 Inches to give room to allow those QCs to hang down.
Way easier to get the Bees to make "QCs where you want them." And way easier than Grafting those fiddly Eggs into Grafting Cups.
    Its a Win, win. 👍
    Hope this helps.

See this was my exact question- why build a ton of 2 frame minis when I can use standard, put boards on to make minis or several 3 frame or 5 frames. How did you do the entrances for the two ends?

Since I started selling nucs I've leaned more towards having a bunch of 5 framers and using the queen castles as pure queen banks. Helpful to replace any queens with a slow start.
One entrance on each side. A drawing would be easier to explain, but if you run it as four 2-framers you'll have an entrance for one of the middle ones on the 16" side, one front, one back. And then you'll have the side entrances for the two edge colonies on the 19 7/8" side, one left, one right. Entrances are cut out of the base, not the box. Hope that makes sense.

Why do beekeepers like barnhard use single colony boxes instead of compartmentalized

We’re these late summer/fall queens being made? Or spring queens?

These were spring queens. I’ve avoided fall queens whenever i can, less time to course correct.
