FNAF 3 is a... weird one. Its atmosphere is great, but it struggles to actually scare you because the Phantoms cause a lack of build-up unlike the other games, which also makes winning in 3 feel much less relieving. The gameplay is also pretty boring, but definitely not the worst in the series. You have to learn the Phantoms' patterns and avoid them while keeping track of Springtrap, which is personally much better than 2's style where 90% of the chaos is beaten by putting a mask on. I'm not going to go too deep into a lore analysis, but I agree it's one of the best in the series in terms of lore, and Springtrap's design is my favourite horror design period. FNAF 4, while being weak from a design standpoint to me, is still my favourite in the series and shows how a lot of things from 3 could have been done better. The style of listening closely for breathing knowing that you can be blared with a jumpscare at any moment is always terrifying, and in terms of atmosphere, a bedroom adds so much to it. (Though that's very up to debate since I personally have a history of being anxious walking around my house in the middle of the night.) There's also Night 5 where they throw everything you know out the window and throw you in a 1v1 without warning, but there's no real equivalent for that in FNAF 3 since it's a 1v1 the whole game, it's just something I find cool.
as a horror game it's a bit weak but gameplay is honestly one of the best entries in the series because you can't just rely on doing the same thing, every night can play out completely different and you actually have to pay attention to the cameras which is cool also, the actual jumpscare part is weak af but that's not where the horror on this game is focused on, rather it's focused on the panic of losing sight of springtrap and having to look for him, that's when the game shines best
I think in terms of gameplay and scary factor Fnaf 3 is the weakest one of the franchise. But it more than makes up for it with atmosphere and all the new and exciting lore reveals. I still remember how hyped everyone was about how there is both a good and a bad ending to this game.
The reason why five nights at Freddy's 3 isn't scary is because in the first other games of all of them you are facing off against animatronic spirits versus versus in in vs verse in vs in in in five nights at Freddy's 3 where you're facing off against a random dude

are you ok?
What do you mean "a random dude"? You're facing off against purple guy, literally the main antagonist of Five nights at Freddys.
Interesting and funny ❤
Thank you!
