OPTION 1) leave the hubcaps there, and people will think u’re too cheap to get nice rims. OPTION 2) pull the hubcaps off, and people will think u suck at parallel parking, cuz u scraped em off on the curb. Your choice ☺️
Right Lane Hog I know -but lots of Prius drivers are missing the hubcaps because they scrape the curb and the wheel covers fall off. I like the look of the aluminum wheels, especially if it has a center Cap in the middle. However I don’t like that there is a shallow groove remaining where the hubcap clips were.
My 2019 Prius does not come with hub caps as in this video. The wheels are black with silver plastic inserts. Not sure what they are but I would love to change them to all silver. Any suggestions?
I have done this procedure on multiple cars. Important: FIRST, remove the small logo caps from the center with a flat screwdriver. Put them to the side. Then, clean the rims up well, with soap and water. Let them dry fully, and then use silver wheel paint, which you can buy in the link below. Don’t use regular spray paint, that will peel away. Before you use the paint, make sure to cover the tire and the surrounding areas with tape and trash bags thoroughly. Therefore, no paint will go to areas you don’t want it to. Paint directions: 1. After cleansing the rims of any road dirt and letting dry fully, shake the can for at least three minutes straight. Clean it by hand, the automatic car wash can leave residoo. 2. Then, hold the can about a foot away from the rims, and lightly dust it with the first coat. If you spray too heavily, it will drip. 3. Let this coat dry for 5 minutes at least. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, until you feel your rims are fully silver colored. The whole thing takes patience, just think of how pretty it will look later 😂. 5. Hey toy-jeff I'm looking to buy wheel covers to cover my alloy wheels over the winter ,then take the covers off 4 summer.I have 02 subaru impreza RS 16 inch tires.I notice in ur video that u were taking wheel covers off alloy wheels instead of steellys
The best protection against curbing the wheels is to replace the oem sized tires with one size wider tires; and you will also get much smoother ride out of them too.
It’s to clean airflow over the tires. If you want the mpg on the sticker you have to run with them on if you don’t mind 2-3 mpg dip you can have the nicer looking rims
@Jonny Nobody actually I put after market wheels on mine a week after I got it and doing some adjustments for temps outside I lose about 4 to 7 mpg using my go fast wheels vs the stock with the caps when I tried driving with the stock wheels but no hubcap for a day or so I didn’t see any difference at all

I prefer tge normal wheel, I would paint them black or white, but they are worse for fuel efficiency
