Kai Hansen is and has always been a phenomenal singer, guitar player, and songwriter. He is the Godfather of European Power Metal. Every band that he has been in Helloween, Gamma Ray, Iron Savior, Unisonic, and any other band as a guest are all amazing because of Kai Hansen. The talent he has is just amazing.

Not quite Kai has lost a lot of his clean highs but still pretty good but not like 15 years ago and ride the sky is performed a whole step down compared to original recording, but Kai still sings it best with the exception of Ralph sheepers, who was the only other who can match kai, even today.
Only one can sing it as well as Kai and has and that is Ralph sheepers when he fronted gamma ray, but Kai's voice has aged in recent years yet andi or Michael kiske can't sing it like Kai, and Kai wrote it and sang it originally on helloweens walls of Jericho album and is what I consider one of the first so called power metal songs, that's why I have always said Kai was doing the so called power metal vocals on the walls of Jericho album before Michael kiske even joined helloween. But what is so called power metal to and I hate the so called labeling of metal anyway as most metal bands do different styles at different times.
I knew this was a fast tempo song. But never realized exactly how fast until I seen the drummer playing. Dude’s a beast! I’d put him up there with the Galloglass drummer.

@cehaem2 are you a vocal coach, doctor or god? If he want's he might do it. Remember what happend to bruce dickinson. He lost his voice and he returned better, but there was a lot of effort to do it. I'm an optmistic person and I believe if you want you can do it, you just need to put the effort. I have 3 broken vertebrae in 5 places and I'm walking, so if he wants, if he put the effort is posible, Bruce did it. But that's up to him to decide.

Actually he said in an interview that he's more of a screamer and that he doesn't have a good technique for higher notes (which would explain why his voice is more raspy), it's a shame because I think his voice is quite unique and he's the only one I want to hear on this song.

Yes Michael ehre did well but still plays chorus part slightly different than ingo did in the studio and live, shows how great ingo was as a drummer Dani loble plays it exactly like ingo in the studio but a little slower live, but glad to hear he is doing the new helloween album playing ingo's sonar signature bubinga kit that ingo recorded drums with from keepers 2 to the chameleon album, and he used live during his later years with helloween ingo would be glad his drum kit was being used again as it is hard to get power toms made in those sizes anymore and snares that size now that have such good tones acoustically.
Close to ingo note for note except on chorus part compared to ingo with stopping double bass and picking back up ingo kept double bass going while doing tom fills, Michael played same way Thomas knack and Daniel Zimmerman played but still better than uli kusch did.
First metal song I've had on cassette back in '88, and I thought that this is the heaviest track ever made. I wasn't far from truth. Unbelievable drive still today. It is so f..cking heavy!

Powerful performance even with a stripped down production and minimum of gimmicks. The keyboards are a smart addition and make the band sound absolutely huge. Hansen is a great front guy , plays and sings so confidently. He got better with age!
Most of the drummers Kai has worked with kick add on drums only uli kush had trouble on this song by trying to do weird stuff thinking he was being fancy instead of just playing it like ingo did which the other drummers have except on the chorus of this song where ingo kept the double going on the chorus, where the other drummers stop for a second then pick right back up the double bass, only Dani loble has duplicated exactly like ingo except for ingos speed as ingo played this song a bit faster live while still being accurate believe it or not
@@michaelkramer4936 yes that's micheal ehre of gamma ray and now primal fear as well as the drummer who drummed on the Hanson and friends album was not available that day, and since Kai has been busy with helloween his original band that's why micheal ehre has joined primal fear which ironically is fronted by Ralph sheepers,who was the original vocalist of gamma ray and who Kai and the rest of helloween asked to take over vocals in 1986 before Michael kiske was asked to do it, but Ralph had to turn it down at the time as he wanted to see his own band tyran pace through only for that band to break up a year later.

I still remember the first time I heard his voice in "Walls of Jericho", I was 16 years old. Then I knew a lot of classical music, jazz, rock, metal etc. Now I am 48 and after all this musical experience I still think he is The Master of heavy metal, together with Bruce, and a true myth!!!
