I love shred as much as the next guy but the outro solo to Comfortably Numb is my absolute favorite.
I’ve always though Gilmore was at best average, mechanical, pedestrian and a plodder. When I saw him live, an anonymous guitarist almost off stage was doing most of the work.

Gilmore hated playing this on the Wall Live Tour, he had to play exactly the same version every night as it and the rest of the music
was timed to the second and couldn't be deviated from or improvised.

Just gotta feel it. I believe it's Bm, A, G, Em, Bm over & over; 4-count measures Bm, A, then G & Em 2-count each (split a measure), then Bm 4-count measure . You can also make your own and had some flavor.

Using a great Gibson less Paul... gives you that slash playing this solo feel.. Gilmore used a strat this solo ...... nice playing you worked with this one a bit great focus.....

Yes it misses the point of NUMB with a Fender BUT with a Gibson its another dimension. If you want to hit the point then listen to a Fender but this to me, as a guitarist is just as good to listen to. Think about it !!!!

True, Les Pauls and Strats are both excellent guitars, but they are as different as a piano and an organ.
The song was performed by Gilmore on a strat and it just doesn't sound right with a Les Paul.
Technically perfect and beautiful would love to see her do this on a Strat. That Gibson is a powerhouse.

(forgive me. I’m sure there’s a real name for it!)😆David uses it a lot in his work! It really gives a guitarist an edge!

Great tone and feel. I wonder if I heard it and was asked if it was Gilmour or not (without being shown) if I could say. Maybe the Les Paul would make the difference because I think Gilmour played it on a Strat, but I'm not sure.
Yes he played it on a black fender strat. Which he just auction it off. Can't remember what it brought. But I can tell you his guitar collection is 21.2 million dollars.

Sorry ... I just don't see the resemblance. Her Les Paul is all wrong as well. David Plays a 56' Les Paul Goldtop with P-90's and a Bigsby. I found a 56' Gibson Les Paul in good shape. Only $ 38,000.00. Guess I'll just be dreaming with that one.....

Probably cause just like a million people in the world can play this and when listening people judge hard,, when I closed my eyes and listened, obviously it was good, but I imagined if it was played on the radio, and at that comparison standard I didn't think it was that great emotionally I didn't get there. ,, but that is being very judgemental because I'm a female and she plays a million times better than me, I'm just explaining why the dislikes,,, I dare say it is only that she is a female that people think she's so good, and visually u can see her really get into it, but shut off the visual and just listen and compare to all the others or at a high standard I feel it didn't quite get me there personally even though she is skilled
I agree. Plus most of the people who are impressed are men and she’s an attractive woman so they immediately want her approval. Separate all of that and like you said just listen, there are a lot of people who can play it better.

Hey sweetie, been playing rock jazz fusion since early 70's and one very critical I learned from having the privilege to meet many great guitarist like Benson Gilmore Santana Satriani Healey & Eric Johnson just to mention a few and one thing I learned from all the Cats was to...wait for it...wait for it...wait; Slowly breath in slow deep breaths and always keep your nervous energy in check and again always relax breath in & out and clear your mind from every distraction no matter what..THEN...as Clint Eastwood says..everyone clear on the set...then Begin. Always keep your time and feel in complete control as you would when riding a nice horse and you should always be in love with your approach & satisfaction..oh btw also never be concerned with any show off & egocentrical expressions as your beautiful touch and sound will do all the heavy lifting for you Princess!! God bless and keep on inspiring folks with your charm!!

Dave's strat with lace sensor pickups really doesn't sound anything like a strat to begin with. They sound more like humbuckers from the get go.

This is incredibly hard to play, my hats off to her. David Gilmour himself doesn't always play it note for note as on the album.

it's not hard........but it's awesome!
It's not hard to play the notes. What can be hard is to build the solo organically towards a natural climax,
which is easier said than done if you don't have a feeling for it. And the challenge is to keep things interesting
while playing what is essentially just simple blues riffs. So it's the way you play the notes rather than the notes
you play that decide whether or not you can play it well.
