I still have that awesome team jersey I won in a raffle back in the early 90's no 56 I think it is. The first captain to take a team to South Africa & won all 3 tests, that was immense tour & love that period in our All Blacks Teams.
Fitz mentions The Lions 1971 as an inspiration and it takes me back to Matua Primary Otumoetai 1971 . I am English but lived in NZ 1967 -75. I remember well being an 11 year old and seeing the Lions play and beat the Bay of Plenty . Next day at school the lads all shaping up imaginary drop goals and saying 'Im Barry John ! ' 'Im Barry John !' We havent had so much to shout about up here until Ireland took the series .
The guy we loved to hate back in the day....had the pleasure of attending a breakfast in 96 where Fitzy was the guest speaker...still have his signed book.
