Decoding Reznor’s music charm didn’t degrade the myth, quite the opposite. Applying his technique to your own song, created a true inspiring force for all of us - bedroom producers! Wrapping everything up in your genius retro, almost satiric-ish ‘music video clip’, lifts up all the reznor-seriousness, to leave us with a unique sense of possibility and hope. Thank you for your great work!
it sounds like copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a which is really ironic lmao
Definitely something missing, It better than I could do but it sounds like what is would sound like if a Christian youth group tried to make a cool song to convert the lost nin fans.
Dear Steven, that intro sounds absolutely mindblowing. For those who are into darker sounds (RUclips algo sent us here!) - would you consider making a video describing your process of making that intro sound?
The intro hits so hard ... especially the drums. Some of it sounds almost like gated noise. Whenever I try to make sounds like that it comes out sounding like a wet fart.
Just a copy of a copy copy. Seriously, good job. I’ve been wanting to incorporate a bit of NIN styling into a down tuned baritone guitar project. Thanks!
Just came across this because 1 I'm a big NIN fan and a guitarist/producer. Great song, great music, great lyrics, great production techniques, awesome video!! Truly a great video everything about it! thanks for your work!
Sleep deprivation ,stay awake for a couple ov days then record, you'll find that 'vibe' and that Reznor agresion that stops him sounding like Garry Numan...not that he's bad just different .
Excellent work! Sounds pretty close to Hesitation Marks era. On my opinion the only thing which Trent would have done in a different way - is a structure of the song. What Trent would probably do - is delay the chorus and do the second verse right after the first one, introducing more instruments to the arrangement. And only then there'd be a chorus part. Trent likes to keep the tension...
First, brother... years later, and I am *still* learning from this video. Thank you for this. Secondly, hello DJSisterPain fams. I *knew* I'd heard this somewhere, when she played it on her stream, last year.
What would you say your influences are? Interesting early NIN + mid-to-late stage NIN + late 80s/early 90s. In other words, delightful blend of generations and sub-genres. Thanks!
I subscribed to your channel because of this video/tutorial. So freaking awesome and informative. I'm a musician.. Saxophone/Drums/Piano...but I have little to nun music theory and just self taught production. That's why I love videos like this I was making cool beats and sequences all week. Anyways thanks man for lessons.
In a lot of ways.. The remix albums and singles had more of an impact on me than his actual albums? Like his version called "the art of self Destruction part 1" check out the production on that, it's genius!
That is quite a cool ass into , I am looking into starting my own solo project but before I actually do I am asking around for people’s opinion on which keyboard or synth that’s reasonably priced to get that will give me that dark industrial, industrial metal sound.
I'm wondering how to create the disintegrating effect on vocals like in "The Wretched" at the 2:36 mark. I love the sound of things falling apart in music. It creates such a mood enforcement. Any thoughts?
Time signature. Playing in 6/8 (od 3/4) or 7/8 means there's that many notes in the subdivision of a musical bar. Most pop music is in 4/4 or 6/8 or something similar. He's talking about doing arpeggiated synth rhythms in Odd meter, which means 5/4, 7/8, 9/8, meaning if you're clapping "1,2,3,4", you can rhythmically play 7 notes within a count. It's kinda complicated but easy enough to grasp. That's just off the dome but there's def videos on here explaining way better than i can.
Woah this is awesome! Thanks for making this video, I was messing around with my guitar and played something that reminded me of NIN so I looked up how to make music like him and found you!
Bro really really really really really really thanks for making this. There isn't much videos out here that explains how to make the NIN sound or industrial music guide. IF possible could you also do how to make movie compositions like Trent Reznor? Like how he makes Gone Girl or The Social Network, That movie type production. In your convenience of course. Once again thank you for this and stay safe.
Sounds really good, espeshly those distorted drums you have in each title sequence and the beginningof the vid, they sound alot like nin, the song though musically at its foundation def nin but overall yeah bowie fo shur

Dimos Batris I’m humbled by your kind words. Thanks for checking it out
Doesn't sound like nin at all.. it sounds like you! Love it!
It feels like a similar rhythm 'copy of a'
jonny26281 Copy Of A is in 5
it feels like a copy of a copy of a. good work altogether!
it sounds like copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a which is really ironic lmao
actually it sounds basically exactly the same as 'copy of a'
the things that sound more NIN are the transitions
This is def hesitation marks style. I dig it. Not crazy about your lyrics but the chorus structure sounds great. The production is really solid.
i think the only thing you missed out was the industrial, distorted eerie atmosphere.
I feel like you could apply lessons from elsewhere to make up from that fortunately
Definitely something missing, It better than I could do but it sounds like what is would sound like if a Christian youth group tried to make a cool song to convert the lost nin fans.
@@jamegumb6625 😂😂😂

The drums r pretty mid too but ya nice try
Dear Steven, that intro sounds absolutely mindblowing. For those who are into darker sounds (RUclips algo sent us here!) - would you consider making a video describing your process of making that intro sound?
Yes please! That intro part is amazing
PLEASE
c'mon 2 years and nothing? the intro sound was a thousand times better as a nin song than the other result
PLEASE
The intro hits so hard ... especially the drums. Some of it sounds almost like gated noise. Whenever I try to make sounds like that it comes out sounding like a wet fart.
One of the best tutorials I’ve seen in a long time.
Just a copy of a copy copy.
Seriously, good job. I’ve been wanting to incorporate a bit of NIN styling into a down tuned baritone guitar project. Thanks!
God... I wish I could be just like you whom knows everything about creating or making music weather it's industrial music or electronic music..
Really impressive! Thx, I def subbed!
I play technical death metal and i was looking up mixing videos and wound up here.... Holy shit your music is gnasty. Is this what NiN has been doin?!
I have been trying to emulate Trent's sound, but hadn't really figured out how to do it. Thanks for teaching me on this!
Just came across this because 1 I'm a big NIN fan and a guitarist/producer. Great song, great music, great lyrics, great production techniques, awesome video!! Truly a great video everything about it! thanks for your work!
The chorus is dope, pretty damn cool
Really great video man. LOVED the metaphor.
"Building a house but starting with a chair"
Sleep deprivation ,stay awake for a couple ov days then record, you'll find that 'vibe' and that Reznor agresion that stops him sounding like Garry Numan...not that he's bad just different .
This is awesome. I'm just getting into EDM/Industrial songwriting/producing, and there's a lot of good info in here. Thanks for sharing it!
I like it. Definitely still has a cool unique vibe.

Your song was like a mix of Nine Inch Nails, Orgy, Duran Duran, and 1987 in general.
I loved it. Reminds me of Copy Of A.
How the heck don't you have more views. This is awesome content. I found you via your Prologue video. I have one and I love it
Very awesome, great technique on the reverb chop. loved this.
That studder effect with the reverb peeking through kind of reminds me of that Radiohead track "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors," too.
First, brother... years later, and I am *still* learning from this video. Thank you for this.
Secondly, hello DJSisterPain fams. I *knew* I'd heard this somewhere, when she played it on her stream, last year.
yooo that bass patch is nasty bro!!
whoa, very nice explanation, thank you!
This is awesome! Now you just need a big fat modular to make crazy sounds on.
This needs more views this is brilliant
Amazing! That must have been a lot of work. Even a retro video!
Dude this video is incredible. Love all the techniques you used.
“Tumbling” “cascading waterfall” - great use of language
Check out FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY you might enjoy it. Cheers
What would you say your influences are? Interesting early NIN + mid-to-late stage NIN + late 80s/early 90s. In other words, delightful blend of generations and sub-genres. Thanks!
Great Job Mr. Peak!
This honestly sounds amazing! NIN was my biggest influence making music I’m on my Murder Skillz channel. Them and Bjork.
This is incredible !
this was super helpful and interesting to me...I will check up your other videos for sure..
Both songs in here were really sick. Not gana lie inspired me to mess with my instruments again. Very well done sir.
Great tips. 🤘
Thank you! This was the only place I found what I was looking for.
2:17 wtf is that comically large big muff?
This really reminds me of David Bowie.

Reminds a little of softcell in a way, which is a band trent likes alot
Whoa this is spot on!!! Crazy
Great composition and production techniques! A really neat song as well.
Thank you so much!!!

Wow. Sounds right off Hesitation Mark. Killer video
Interesting subject for a video. Not enough NIN production content on RUclips
Great video and music production!!
Great Job
Loved that Bass and Space music you used for its Intro
(Plus everything else lol)
Thanks
Really cool man!!
feels more depeche mode than nails
It’s like building a house, but starting with a chair 👌🏻
And suddenly, I discovered where Ben Watkins of Juno Reactor got his sound.
Great video!
Brilliant! This changes how I hear nin forever!
That is quite a cool ass into , I am looking into starting my own solo project but before I actually do I am asking around for people’s opinion on which keyboard or synth that’s reasonably priced to get that will give me that dark industrial, industrial metal sound.
Sounds to me like a fusion of NIN and Mike and the Mechanics. Good stuff yo.
🤯 this is legit amazing
You're so talented. Thanks so much for making this video :)
Brilliant! Your music is dope as hell
I'm wondering how to create the disintegrating effect on vocals like in "The Wretched" at the 2:36 mark. I love the sound of things falling apart in music. It creates such a mood enforcement. Any thoughts?
Thank you for this, trying to find some videos on industrial heavy guitar rigs/setups.
Excellent video. Your presentation is so well thought out and executed.
great rhythm on the ob
Can you explain what I made a sequence in 3 or 6 means?

I don't know shit about making music, but that was really fun to watch and I'm diggin the end result 👍
Intro music fuckin' slaps
This song is going to be stuck in my head all day dude_
Thanks for checking it out
Thanks, sir-these are some interesting techniques to try out with my own music!
This is so legit! Thanks man
But what about The Downward Spiral or The Fragile production? This was very post Year Zero style productions.
Why do I feel like going to the video store and renting a copy of a pornographic film ?
That was cool bub.
Like, like, like! Would love to see some more production vids and perhaps some with soft-synths for those of us who can't afford the real thing
this is amazing! Great job dude!!
Trent is the reason I got into electronic music. Before NIN and ministry I listened to nothing but Slayer and shit like that.
This is awesome!! Great work!!
Awesome video, definitely learned some new techniques.
9:25 I love that!
This is so sick
Woah this is awesome! Thanks for making this video, I was messing around with my guitar and played something that reminded me of NIN so I looked up how to make music like him and found you!
Great insights, thanks.

Great video! Was very helpful.
What is the visualizer you used at the beginning of the video?
It’s an iZotope eq I think
