some of the means to gaining the love of Allāh, the sheikh mentions:
1. reading the qur’ān, and not discontinuing upon that.
2. guarding the voluntary acts since these serve as barriers to the obligatory acts.
3. being continuous upon the remembrance of Allāh, glorifying Allāh, seeking His forgiveness, the tasbeeh...
4. studying tawhīd, Allah’s beautiful names and lofty attributes, gaining knowledge.
5. du’ā, especially in the best times like the last third part of the night.
6. accompanying the righteous, be with them. being continuous upon that companionship.

Regarding the question of maa sha Allah vs Allahumma baarik, the Shaykh said:
الأولى ان يقول اللهم برّك.
So not Allahumma baarik, but Allahumma *barrik*, with a shaddah on the r, and no alif, unless my ears deceive me.

Hadith says بالبركة without sheddah Allahu alam
