As a mavs fan, I think any real mavs fan could see that if we didn't have Luka, we would have been thrilled to have JB as our future pg. I honestly can’t say the same. Without Luka and with Brunson at the helm we would definitely be a lottery team. He’s great but he’s not superstar. I disagree.
Any Knicks fan naysayers on this guy need to watch this video He was so badly needed for Knicks an actual PG in his prime with AS potential!!! Let's get some playoff W's now Knicks
Facts.I wasn’t quite sold on Brunson at first but watching him play and seeing his skillset makes me believe he has top 5 PG potential. He can reach Isaiah Thomas level of play if everything goes right.
@@BrooklynBalla he doesn’t even need to be that. I’m envisioning around 18 and 6 while helping the offense become more free flowing. Opening the floor for RJ and especially Randle who both benefit from a shot creating PG
Wow, you really nailed this analysis! You were on the money. That's precisely what happened when Brunson came to the Knicks. And he's STILL underrated! You really did a great job putting this vid together. Look forward to seeing other predictions you make.
To my Knicks fam, Brunson's going to shock you. I've been high on this dude since December last year, watching him help Luka carry the Mavs to the WCF proved a lot. He's going to fit so well with our young guys. I'm excited to witness our true development now 😭
Great video, I agree 100% that Brunson is one of the most underrated players in the league, but his skill, basketball IQ, experience playing high-pressure winning basketball combined with his work ethic and well-rounded offensive game makes him someone who could easily get selected as an All-Star reserve, playing on a team with a lead guard role on a bigger stage, reason why I really want him on the Knicks alongside our young core.
Thanks, appreciate it! Yeah, Knicks are such a good spot for him. And Knicks need that floor general that can help the development of the rest of their young core. A lot of Knicks fans I’ve seen are on the fence re Brunson but he’ll change their minds quickly if he does end up there next season.

Same here. I know a lot of people have turned on Randle for regressing this season but I think having a true PG in the lineup with him will help him out a lot. He exhausts so much energy bulling his way to his spots on the floor that I think with Brunson in the lineup handling the ball he'll be better able to get to where he wants on the court with less effort, will get better looks, and won't be so gassed at the end of games and towards the end of the season. Really interested in seeing how those three guys play together. Main worry is defensively, if the Knicks don't move Fournier the team will be pretty lacking defensively along the perimeter outside of Barrett.
@@thetramp123 yeah him and Evan will be bad lol. I agree I think Randle and RJ both had to do so much that now getting Brunson they can relax a bit. I also think something else was up with Randle he didn’t seem right hopefully he’s good.
All southpaws that go to the same side of the rim. They may NOT work out well. RJ better get his FG% up or Brunson gonna have bad numbers and NY will turn on him. It’s a good move still, for the future trade asset. JB had the benefit of not seeing many double teams (Luka did) or the opponents best perimeter defender( also Luka did ). This is why JB is a big question mark. Not as a good player, we know he’s good. As a star or guy who will take NY to the next level we can only guess. He’s a HUGE liability on defense who made even Luka look like a defensive stud.
A lot of the plays run for Brunson here are either 4 out or pick and roll offense with Powell. Will be very interesting to see how he operates if he goes to the Knicks. He’ll have a tough time attacking on offense when playing with Robinson unless he spams pick and roll. I think we’ll have to see a ton of small ball with Obi at the 5 (he improved his 3 point shot tremendously towards the end of the season, hopefully not a fluke) and surround him with shooters to truly unlock his game where Brunson can showcase his post up and midrange game.
It’s a good point and there will definitely be an adjustment for him. However, I think most important of all is that he gets to play his position at PG. The rest, regarding the optimal offense and spacing, can be figured out along the way as NY continues to update their roster.
Excellent video! I am a Brunson fan and you understand his game. Not mentioned (due to timing of video release): lack of 3 point shooting on Knicks will clog the lane and challenge him as the primary creator. Mavs had lots of 3 pt shooters.
Brunson is extremely underrated: (1) His basketball IQ is extremely high (2) He can take a shot from anywhere on the floor (3) He has extremely tight handles and even avoids going to certain flashier moves that are more likely to lead to turnovers (e.g. crossovers) (4) His high-post-up, which I'd argue is his signature move, is nearly un-guardable, because he has so many options out of that position--you can't reach in, because he'll punish you with a quick direction shift (5) His post play is elite (6) His off balance shots are extremely consistent
He’s an absolute stud. The world is going to understand next season now that he’s front and center in the biggest market in the country. He’s been elite at every level and they always try to put a ceiling on him despite constant improvement. It’s a shame people don’t appreciate his game more because, as you listed, everything he does on the court is at such a ridiculously high skill and IQ level
Glad he got the opportunity to eventually play!!! So much talent in the NBA but many never get the opportunity to showcase their talents. Crazy, he could have gone to a team and sat for 3-4 years and his career would still be slow unless another team took a chance on him. A reason why you really do have to take advantage of an opportunity because you never know if you will get one again..
Thanks. As i said toward the end of the video, the Knicks are an ideal spot for him. Would love to see him end up there. People who don't understand how good he is will doubt the move at first but they'll be proven wrong in time.

He didn’t go to the Knicks for a paycheck. He went there because they value him for the player he is whereas the mavs merely valued him as an asset to be traded at a later date. That and it’s been his desire since entering the NBA to play point guard, his true position where’s won at prior levels. As for assists, the # of assists a player gets is not a good way of determining their legitimacy as a point guard. There are a lot of players now that get 8,9,10 assist but are poor floor generals because they are turnover prone and they don’t necessarily bring out the best in their teammates. Brunson has never been a high assist player but he knows how to take care of the ball, control the pace of the game, and run a team in such a way where all of his teammates eat. It will be clear next season when he elevates the Knicks young players

Something that I don't hear a lot about with his game is that he seems to purposefully avoid certain moves, because they have a lower rate of success and are more likely to lead to turnovers. For example, he opts for quick-shifting high post-ups instead of attempting crossovers out near the line. He also likes to dribble out there and fake the hand-off with a head fake and speed change then cut hard to the basket. Another alternative he goes to off the catch is an extremely tight jab-step and drive that almost always leads to him beating his defender. Other players could learn something from Brunson's urgency on the court *cough* Tatum *cough*. Brunson is even doing complex things like having the other team's help defender act like a screener by running his man into the help and cutting around them. He'll often use this to throw off the play, because the help defender obscures his man's vision and the paint protector will usually still be on the weak side, because they also don't have clear line of sight on the ball handler--it's an extremely effective an underutilized play. Since he doesn't have the size and athleticism to then dunk all over the help, he'll usually do a quick high-percentage off-balance finger roll (which often leads to an AND1), do a back cut and some fancy step-through, or do a footwork fade-away. He's also really good at using his body to cut off trailing defenders and will often do clever speed changes to prevent getting blocked--his shiftiness is problematic for a defense. The wildest thing is he has the discipline to not pick up his handle through most plays while multiple defenders are in near proximity and rarely has to get bailed out. If Brunson was even 4 inches taller with the same skillset, he'd be MVP caliber because of all the things he can bring on the floor offensively for a team. I remember watching guys like Conley in Memmphis or Brooks in Houston get more run than Lowry when he was clearly better than both. I’m so happy he is leaving Dallas man. He has been relegated to broken plays and scraps of shot clocks after Luka overdribbles his whole career. Deserves to be a full time guard. Mavs fans will learn soon. Absolutely brainwashed by counting stats.
100% agree. Thrilled for him. A lot of mavs fans never really appreciated how much he was sacrificing so that Luka could have a 40% usage night in night out. Now they think brunson leaving is for ego reasons. Clueless

I like Brunson as an occasional first option, but in a wing dominant league like the NBA, you can't really build a team around a bulky, average-athletic PG that's a high volume shooter. I don't doubt he'll be a solid piece for the Knicks, but given Dolan's track record, I see no reason to believe this signing significantly springs the Knicks ahead.

They will screw it up, JB will get traded soon as a star is available. He will publicly announce he regretted leaving a winning organization by wanting to be the number one considering it was the number one who allowed him to shine. Watch the tape.
@@iamchaunceman this aged well
You called it
Wow has this aged well
Straight facts!!
Just glad knicks have a pg with elite ball handling
Welcome to the concrete jungle 🟧🟦
In April: '... but what i have i believe he has the potential to do..."
in Playoff against the Jazz.... *puts Mavs on his back *
you sir, have a Brian Windhorst type ability to see the future!!!
All fact
He reminds me iof Kyle Lowry another Villanova alum. BBoth selected in the late first and second round they both fought their way up the ladder. I remember watching guys like Conley in Memmphis or Brooks in Houston get more run than Lowry when he was clearly better than both. I think tthe Knicks should be more receptive to the idea of having him at point. Barring injuries or untimely trades he might be a steal
Deserved his own team when he got drafted. Wanted the Suns to get him instead of Elite Okobo
Damn u saw the future
The hesi is crazy tho🤦🏻 atleast the Knicks got something right
I swear the slight hesi at 5:04 reminded me of Michael Jackson doing the robot. Brunson is so cold
His handle and footwork is nuts
This video has aged beautifully. Brunson also has some of the best footwork in the NBA.
Thanks. He is truly an elite talent and a testament to how great one can become when they put in the work to perfect their craft.
I hope D rose mentors him well
Welcome to New York! 🗽
Happy Knicks fan. 😁
We should change the title to the most underutilized PG in the NBA.
Ima give bro a chance
🔥🔥🔥🔥#NYK
If Brunson was 6'4 everybody would know who he is! Even at his size he's still a beast.
Real basketball talk no reactionary bs
Jalen is a poor man's Chris Paul. Thats saying alot.
With 100m, Brunson is not a poor man’s anything lol
truth
He just got bag im not sure he will live up to....
jalen brunson is a bucket
You have proven yourself prescient and should be on a team’s scouting department
Appreciate it, man. That would be a dream come true
Modern day Bererra?

I’m so happy he is leaving Dallas man. He has been relegated to broken plays and scraps of shot clocks after Luka overdribbles his whole career. Deserves to be a full time guard. Mavs fans will learn soon. Absolutely brainwashed by counting stats.
100% agree. Thrilled for him.
A lot of mavs fans never really appreciated how much he was sacrificing so that Luka could have a 40% usage night in night out. Now they think brunson leaving is for ego reasons.
Clueless
@@eye4impactnba572 They will do anything to tilt the narrative in Luka’s favor! Can’t believe it’s a crazy concept that he wants to play for the team that employs his dad, agent and he’s closer to home with a full time PG role? I’m sure the Knicks were one of his favorite teams growing up too. I’m sure he’s more aware than us of how unintelligent Mavs fans are. They wanted to trade him away for Dragic not too long ago
@@mafiawhatelse you sound like a fool. You know nothing, just another moron who will be eating his words. The dude never saw a double team or the other teams best perimeter defender. He’s good but doesn’t move either teams needle much. You guys will turn on him soon, as usual.
I hope the Knicks got their guy......we didn't pay Fred Van Fleet so Brunson getting paid better be worth it
Aka the wind beneath luka's wings. Mavs gonna suck
If he goes to a team where he is the main focal point to stop defensively, he is not going to do much
he can pass the ball
His best games came when Luka was out.
👀👀
I like Brunson as an occasional first option, but in a wing dominant league like the NBA, you can't really build a team around a bulky, average-athletic PG that's a high volume shooter. I don't doubt he'll be a solid piece for the Knicks, but given Dolan's track record, I see no reason to believe this signing significantly springs the Knicks ahead.
No he’s not.
110 Mil$ Says He Is🤔💯
hahaha, Knicks is stupid to give him 100M.
Thank JKidd for his plays
Listen i like him but hes not gonna be same player without luka..
You’re right. He’s going to be a lot better. Stay tuned next season…
@@eye4impactnba572 doubt that we dnt have stars and donovan aint coming here wuth the 8 draft picks he wants..ainge
What's your take now.
Lol
What looks good in Dallas may not look good in New York. Be prepared for a rocky start Knicks. Lol
Cope Brunson will be an all star
