These new mixes sound amazing! I'm glad I went with the Deluxe CD version with the Blu-ray. I love all the detail in the book as well. One thing I noticed straight away was that the artwork with the gold highlights is the same thing they did with the Pure McCartney set from several years back. Plus they used the same few photos over and over again throughout the set (poster, postcards, sleeves, etc.) Nevertheless, still a great set worth owning.
I got the 2 CD set - I’m a big Lennon fan, but as it’s a greatest hits, I wasn’t too worried about the super deluxe and so I went for the double disc which has the same standard 36 tracks, The new re mixes are excellent, good selection of songs too, well worth picking up👍🏻
Hi Paul, Thanks for the unboxing. This is a thing of beauty as the Imagine box was. My favorite configuration as well.. 10 by 10. This is worth the investment for the book alone.... and the music has never sounded so warm and clear. Thanks to Universal Music, Sean and Yoko for honoring this legend the way it is absolutely paramount for current and future generations. If they do all of his catalog this way then all is right with the world. With the current state of 2020... at least one thing is constant... physical product is VERY ESSENTIAL and this is THE reissue for me.... acting as the cavalry to save us ALL from the doldrums we are in. Gimme Some Truth lyrics wise cannot be more poignant than RIGHT NOW. Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. What a genius. God bless and keep well and thanks for all you do for music aficionados everywhere, Tino
@@sdedition You are so so right. All due respect to McCartney but price is important. These Lennon sets as well as the Marillion and Jethro Tull sets are economical and bountiful. You, my friend should know... being THE presenter and THE reviewer that we all wish we would be... to hold all those wondrous music items in your hands as you do. Such a marvelous job you are doing. I cannot afford to buy a lot of them unfortunately.. .especially the Macca ones... but Lennon, I make room in my budget for. God bless you Paul and all at SDE. Please keep safe.
Bought on Saturday from my local hmv,got told by the assistant they were only sent one copy. Is this limited I sort of doubt it. Anyway I think it’s superb and best of all no vinyl in the box.
Well, Paul - after watching your video, I decided to pick this deluxe edition up too, really pleased I did - extremely good quality and for under £50, brilliant value too 👍🏻
Are CD”s dead ? Why reissue a box set on a medium (CD”s) that is not very popular? I do believe vinyl is making a retro return.. vinyl or digital for me imho!
@@sdedition damm, I don't understand why some labels don't include it, not all of us own the original material. I love being able to listen to vinyl again but if I can't add it on my phone and listen on the way to work especially on my headphones, it's not worth getting. I was quite surprised when both Dua Lipa and Lady GaGa did not include a digital copy with their recent releases.

I don't have the money to follow all the news and this makes me sad. The policy of the record companies should be reviewed and corrected. It is useless to continuously scrape the bottom of the barrel. The original records, the ones that came out at the time, are better than all the box sets in this world. Many of them will never be reprinted again. Music and culture belong to everyone and not just the rich. Thank you. All the best, sergio falcone
“The policy of the record companies” (as always) is to make money & this will do that for them very nicely - they don’t do it for charitable reasons & all the tracks are available to stream for free for anyone who can’t/doesn’t want to buy any of the sets so I’m not sure what your complaint is - why do you need to be rich to stream music FOR FREE via Spotify etc?
Musc- wise it can never be bad, but the track listings are complete confusion the way they are printed - absolutely not user friendly. Who cares whether directions to the tracks are easily presented and readable. Also the covy photo of Lennon is destroyed by the letters and arrow. You just never do it to an image - where else have you ever seen such awful graphics

Cheers Tino. In some ways these are better than the McCartney sets because of 5.1 and so much focus on the actual music. And they cost less.

I don't believe they are... although not 100% on this.

Every track sounds stunning apart from my favorite Lennon track Steel & Glass which omits the Horns which just doesn't sound right to me......
