As for beaches, you're 2-3 hours from the Georgia / South Carolina coast and 5-6 hours from Panama Beach, Destin, or the Gulf coast (1 hour plane ride to Miami). If you go 1-2 hours north you're in the North Georgia Mountains and Great Smoky Mountains.

@@ShenardL Well, MARTA is confined to Fulton, Dekalb, Clayton. We have regional buses, but no trains like TriRail in Miami...
