    Very practical as usual and very helpful especially in the times we live in learning how to do things around the home we should do ourselves. I have a stove will be buying a sweeping Kit 👍

    We've got a really nice non functional fireplace.
    This would be perfect this winter. Will look into getting the chimney lined and buy one.

    That’s a lot of soot! Just put my burner in and will be ready by Christmas. I’ve got she’d loads of old redwood and pine from work as I get it free. Do you reckon I should get a large bag of hardwood to supplement it? Good vid.

    • @dereton33

      Yes do it . All wood except damp unseasoned wood is fine.

    Excellent video. We're getting a woodburner soon. I didn't think I could keep my fire panel inset, but you have, i.e. the white panel that your surround & mantelpiece sits against. Can you tell me the size of the opening your one gives you? Ours is an old cast iron back panel with a border and flower on it and I'd love to keep it. Also what brand of stove is that?

    Great (or should I say 'GRATE' ) video! It should be noted to regularly, have cleaned (OR as this vid.. clean yourself) the FLUE LINER et.. 👍For those who have normal coal/wood fire places with a standard CHIMNEY.. 🤔you must remember that if you are burning WOOD you should regularly have cleaned OR do it yourself.. the CHIMNEY. Burning wood can leave a residue of RESIN/TAR combination and that is one of the primary reasons for chimneys catching fire.. a portion of the upper part of the CHIMNEY catches fire.. ! Believe me with a hefty draught blowing through the room and fanning that fire?? It can be terrifying when it happens! 😶Ours is cleaned at least every two years! 👀WOOD !! Be VERY VERY aware of what you are burning !! NEW wood can be troublesome... DAMP or WET wood?? NEVER!! let it dry out!! Which also brings me to the subject of STORING your wood et.. We use the large cement coal bunker but anything that allows the timber to dry out..? 🤔OK on the subject of taking timber indoors.. why you should NEVER store timber indoors.. not talking about one or two logs et.. SOME timber can be infected with wood rot, fungus / wood worm et and guess what that does re the inside of a house?? Hence one of the biggest reasons for TIMBER ROT in a house ie the floor boards / general timber within the home et! 😶

    Oh dear - theres so much wrong with your technique How long did it take to clean the room after ? Where you coughing up soot for the rest of the day ? You do know that attachment is for a 12" flue on smokeless coal don`t you ????? p.s. your comments and gas fire surround /mantle indicate u have removed the gas fire and plumbed the stove into a Kopex gas only liner not wise..

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  Год назад +4

      You know nothing. It is a proper copex flue liner for solid fuel fires (the old liner for a gas back boiler was removed. Your assumption it was a gas fire was wrong)) If you check out the rods you will see that they are for copex liners and 12 inch brick flues. There was no soot or dust in the room after. We were not chocking to death on soot. You take a guess and Im guessing with a name like your u-tube one you clean flues, so I am sorry for loosing you work if you do. But please do not make assumptions.

      I've just shown this video to my chimney sweeper who is also the defra approved installer who put my stove in. He had no issues with your video and said common sense and basic DIY skills are all that is required. He also has no problem with me doing my own this way and to call him the times I carnt be bothered ( he has been in his trade for over 20 years )
