This whole situation is sad. I was bored through the game. Caitlin is just standing in all the corners. Its really disheartening. You can see that its having an effect on Clark.

I shouldn't make this effort, but hear goes...CC is going to be a Star...just not every game. And while many of you think this league is not good, you just can't see how good it is. These teams are filled with best players from their college teams. All the easy games for CC are in the past! She'll get her 30 points and even 40 point games, but it'll because the opponents defense broke down, not because Caitlin is unstoppable!

Once CC took over the game in Washington and hit the 7 three's i knew the sabotage was coming in the upcoming games. No way this coach was going to let her build on the momentum. First she's benched for nearly an entire half (While Boston was kept in the game as Sides knew she'd be the focal point vs Atlanta). I said before the Atlanta game "watch Boston get the lions share of the offense tonight"....it's beyond obvious at this point. Also, consecutive games where CC hasn't gone to the line. Impossible if things are on the up & up.

I don't think Sides is a bad coach. She is in a very difficult situation right now of trying to win while keeping CC relevant. I'm a big CC fan and followed her entire career at Iowa and she has some huge weaknesses in her game that are becoming more obvious at this level. She is not a good ball handler and her defense is awful. It is so bad that Sides makes the right decision to take her out late when they need a stop.

CC excels in pushing the tempo. They literally played half court offense all game. You couldnt even notice CC in this game to be honest. Put her on a team that wants CC to excel not just be a decoy. You have the NCAA leading scorer on your team and just want her to pass lol.

They played half court offense all game, and had their most efficient offensive output of the year. Scored 91 points. Shot 51% from the field. But you guys aren't happy because Caitlin wasn't the absolute star of the game? Sorry folks. This isn't Iowa and the Big 10. This is the WNBA, where your superstar player sometimes takes a back seat to a teammate that has it going. That's what happens when you have a league full of College All-Americans.

Baseball historians say in the 1920's, many New York Yankees fans would rather watch Babe Ruth strike out, with his mighty swing curling him into a pretzel, than watch a Yankee teammate hit a home run. I think this is very similar. Like take me for instance, I can say with 100% honesty, I would rather watch Clark jack up 20 logo threes and miss every one of them than watch Boston score 40 points on 2 foot, basically flat-footed layups under the basket. I openly admit I am NOT a WNBA fan. I am a Caitlin Clark fan.
Clark is 4th in the league in assists, and would be higher if you watched all the games, you clearly see some of the players not able to catch a ball, or misses a 2 foot layup, or a 4 foot jumper and that's because it's a shit team that averaged 6 wins 4 years in a row. When she gets double and triple teamed she passes to the open player, which ends up being a missed shot or a TO. If Sides had any brains at all they would be running at a faster pace to compliment Clark's style, and work around her. Boston had a great game finally, but the 2 previous wins she had ten points and averaged 30% from the floor for christ sakes, and the close game against Connecticut she only had 10 and 6 turnovers. Clark is being expected to carry the team, which she is trying to do, with very little help. Sides needs to go, it's that simple, I can't understand how she still has a job to begin with after last year, and this year so far. They need someone that can use Clark correctly, and trade for acouple players to help her. At Iowa her teammates knew how to play with her, this collection of dogshit doesn't.
Her assist would be even higher if they make the shot after she gets them the ball.

I don't know if yall been paying attention but the WNBA has started promoting other teams and players as they promote Clark. They realize most of Caitlin Clark fans are proving they will never watch anything but Caitlin Clark games. They are calling for a boycott of the Olympics games. If Caitlin Clark fans only want to watch her games then they need to worry about the fans willing to watch other players and teams simply because Indiana Fever might not make the Playoffs or Finals and they are getting prepared for once CC season is over.
Sides stated clearly in the shoot around interview that the identity of this team is playing through their bigs. Which is really sad because then why did you draft CC? They should’ve picked another guard and let her go somewhere where she can be herself…

WNBA never understood the appeal of run and gun. It is the antithesis of the Geno A / Connecticut system that is build into the fabric of the WNBA. The players are not going to allow it, the coaches, the refs, the commissioner. They want Caitlin to conform to the half court snooze fest its been for 28 years. Teams who ,miss more bunny layups, and putbacks, whose most priced stat is Offensive rebounds even over points, assists, 3 ptrs,. Where smash mouth slow down 40 point games is the norm - thats the future of WNBA. Very sad. Also sounds like there is team dynamics going on between a fever player or two and stars on other teams. The deck is stacked against Clark now. Cant win when your team and your coach are pulling against you

To play run and gun, you have to be efficient. You can't miss a bunch of shots and turn the ball over left and right.
Why can't you guys just admit that Caitlin has not been efficient playing the run and gun style at this point in her career? Even at Iowa, she got away scoring a lot of points, but her turnover rate was the highest in the country.
In the WNBA, she is currently not strong nor quick enough to beat most guards off the dribble. She has to work extremely hard just to get her shot off. She doesn't have a midrange game or a floater at all ( which most PGs on any pro level has to have ). And her handles are suspect, which is why Sides has taken her off the ball.
The game is just too fast for her right now, and she needs to find her rhythm. Hopefully she will find it in the 2nd half of the season. But her game needs major work. That's the realization all of you need to understand.

I also saw in an interview where she makes an excuse for her teammates with low iq not coming off screens with hands up in shooting pocket and the ball is going out of bounds. It’s the pistol Pete affect if she had her teammates actually work with her to set up and double up on screens to get her wide open looks it would be unstoppable. I can’t remember the analyst but she was former wnba and she said the most shockly thing about the men’s and women’s game is if there is inter team beef the men with not alienate the star player but still work as a team to achieve the goal. She acknowledged that the women will sabotage a game just so the star has an off night. That right there is VERY telling..Caitlin Clark is fundamentally the best player ever to play the game

Sides is a mediocre coach that doesn't have a clue how to effectively use CC to her best advantage. And you are correct, if the golden goose dies the WNBA is totally screwed. They all hate CC and what better way to get rid of her than to isolate her into a position where she just brings the ball up court (not looking to shoot it) and pass it into Boston for a lay in, if possible. Her own coach has taken her out of the offense. That is a total losing strategy in so many ways. Not just for the team, but for the entire league.

Side's want's to play the same game they did last year, you know, the way that got them last place, The Fever have six top 7 picks on their squad already and still can't cook. The Fever are drafting and ruining all the young talent. It would be nice to see some top draft talent playing for better teams, but they all end up in Indy to die.
I never believed in the draft system. Letting teams lose on purpose and squander young talent is a terrible system.

I don't think they will win more games with the style of play this game. Atlanta just wasn't expecting it in the first half, but they quickly adjusted in the second half. Most teams play the slower half court in the paint game. And the Fever are not a physical enough team to compete with most of those teams in this style.

The Fever have a big who can run in Fagbenie. She is injured right now but was doing a great job with Clark of running and finishing at the rim. When she gets back, the running game will improve dramatically, and they will still have Boston carrying the load in the post.

I'm a CC fan but if any other player is hot in scoring and CC is not doing well then I'd go to that player most of the time. At the end of the day it's about winning as a team. It's not all about CC, it's a team sport. If the team wins, CC wins as well no matter who did the scoring.
CC has always been a team player and always will be. Record for assists.
Logical, but Boston is their only player with that capability. Mitchell shoots at a worse percentage than Clark. And the other players really aren't players that will shoot greater than 10 shots a game. And if you try, they eventually would get exposed in the 2nd half.
I am actually old school center oriented with basketball, but you plan with what you got. And this team other than Boston isnt built for that. Not really built for running either other than Clark and some young backups who aren't allowed to play

@@thatguybill34 the Indiana fever weren't on my radar, or ESPN last year. I haven't seen her be successful against the better teams yet, but I hope I do soon.
I've been staying up until midnight and later to watch these games from the UK. There's simply no point in doing that any more. And I can't get up in the morning and close my ears and eyes and watch the game from the night before because the League Pass app won't let me watch the game until probably mid- to late-evening, by which time I'll already know the score unless I don't go online at all. I might ask for my money back for that reason, because I was told I'd be able to watch a game virtually as soon as it finished. The reality is Clark was the main offensive player at Iowa and she would pass to her center all the time. In this team it’s Mitchell and Boston then the others are third fourth etc. Mitchell is the one that needs to be traded so they can focus on Clark and Boston as the one two. Mitchell won’t pass and like you said Boston doesn’t run well. Fever either trade Mitchell and Boston away for a big that can run like the rookie on Washington or trade Clark to a team that will want to let her play her style. But in the mean time Clark needs to develop a more overall offensive game.

Give it a break I've played, coached and refereed basketball for 25 years and everyone knows the turnover rate is skewed by the caliber of players receiving the pass. The Indiana team is horrible at converting passes to scores just look at that stat line alone and it tells the whole story. Yes, Caitlin needs to improve in some areas of her game and she will because she doesn't make excuses she just works harder so please try and give a little grace to any player at this level because you don't get here by your fans, it's the hard work you put in everyday that builds skills, knowledge and leadership at this level.

Yep. I saw the writing on the wall last night. I'll keep an eye on the box score and when Clark is back to averaging 16+ points every game, I'll come back. I won't watch these WNBA games if she is a secondary player because the game reverts back to the same unwatchable mess it has been for 27 years. I’m a CC fan; she’s the reason I’ve started watching the W and the Fever specifically. However, she took 6 three-pointers and made one. It was an off shooting night. If she makes 3 or 4 of those, then we aren’t talking like this at all.
They need to make adjustments for sure, but she does need her teammates to make shots, and she needs them to do it consistently. If they start to do so, then the crazy defensive focus on CC will let up a little and she can run more freely. I agree she needs the ball in her hands more - too much dribbling it up the court and passing it to another guard right away.
Caitlin Clark should quit the MNBA and return to Iowa for her degree. Back where she was appreciated. Next year Caitlin can get hired by a team whose game plan will utilize her talents. She doesn’t fit with the play of the Indiana. Caitlin makes the play to get the ball inside to Aliyah Boston and it never comes back out, even when Aliyah is smothered, she just bulls her way through and gets fouled. Caitlin can be wide open for an outside shot, but she never gets the chance. Aliyah doesn’t look to give Caitlin a return pass, she stubbornly takes the bit in her teeth and charges the basket, preferring to risk getting fouled. For Aliyah this works but this is not good for Caitlin.
No. Clark just needs to improve her game in the off season, so that she can play effectively in the half court with Boston. To do this, she has to hit the weight room and put on ten pounds of muscle. She has to significantly improve her ball handling to dramatically reduce her turnovers. She has to improve her ability to finish in the lane and to hit mid range shots. She has to become a better on-ball defender. These are all reachable goals. But, it is all on Caitlin Clark to make these improvements. In the long run, people want to watch Clark on a WINNING team. Watching her "run and gun" while losing by thirty points to good teams and being a non-factor in the playoffs is a losing strategy for her career and for the WNBA. The only path to long-term success for Clark is to become a complete player fully functioning in the WNBA style of play on a winning team. Clark can achieve this with Boston, but she will have to become a better, more complete player.
