    I mean....I never questioned how Shericka or her team went about it and was more surprised so many people were upset to the point that they called them liars. Too many Fans act as if they're heavily invested in the athletes and that the athletes need to consider the fans feeling before their own. smh

      Don’t you know your own body ? Don’t you know when to push and not when to push ? These people knew that they weren’t ready for the Olympics and still went there selfishly for vacations . Had they released statements stating that they’re not 100 and they’ll do their best then people would give them the benefit the doubt. Jackson herself said in one interview when the interviewer asked her if she is ok to go and she looked in the man face and said yes she is ready to go for 200 and no injuries. Then two days later no show. What you call that ?

      @@kidscanreadtv6821 I can't speak for anyone but idk anyone who is ok or happy with being lied to. As I've said before it's better of they didn't address it. A lie is a lie regardless of the circumstances.
      I totally agree that fans don't directly pay, and don't care about the althetes. But in the grand scheme of things if track and field is going to grow lies like this does nothing for the sport.
      I purposely mentioned Sherika and not Shelly. If people are following the sport they would have remember Shelly's team announrd her injury from last year. Obviously she has the same injury and she has been out of competition so it's clear that she is still injuried. She went to the Olympics and did her best, and unfortunately things didn't work out in her favor. Massive kudos to her.
      In regards to pay. The Jamaica government pay Olympic medalists.

    • @kidscanreadtv6821
      @kidscanreadtv6821 2 месяца назад +1

      @@nikelnicole Both Shelly and Sherika qualified to be on the Olympic team. They were not handed a pass. They competed and proved themselves. Shelly competed to make the team and qualified for the semis at this year's Olympic games after she was injured last year. So your deduction that she has been out of competition completely when she clearly competed and qualified to be on the Olympic team is skewed.
      Furthermore, you can only surmise that it is a lie if you collectively feel their pain and were privy to their situation. These two girls were training and doing warmups leading up to their Olympic events. You can't say they lied if they were trying to compete and believed that they could muster the energy and verve to compete. You are not part of the camp, haven't witnessed anything first hand and probably don't understand the grit needed to be an Olympic athlete. Steven Gardener from the Bahamas was also a DNS for the 400m because his injuries were exacerbated during warmups. Many athletes around the world compete in severe pain without telling anyone because they don't wish to be pitied and to them competing in pain and pushing their bodies is normal. So if they say that they are ready to compete even when they are feeling pain and discomfort then they are ready and it's not a lie. Shelly competed with foot injury before and no one said she lied when she said that she could compete. I haven't heard one Bahamian calling Steve Gardener a liar for saying that he was ready and then being a no show during the 400m heats.
      And you said that Jamaica pays the athletes. Asafa Powell, Usain Bolt Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce and the dream team from '08, 2012, 2016 didn't get paid. Both Asafa and Usain have confessed to helping athletes but that there is only so much that they can do and continue to call on the Jamaica Athletics association to pay its athletes. Asafa has clearly stated on multiple occasions that Jamaica doesn't pay its athletes. Only recently Jamaica allotted a few dollars geared towards the athletes who qualified for the team and for the ongoing cost of training thereafter but nothing substantive. Even then, the association gave no distinct amount that would go towards medalists this year. How much did JOA pay Kishane Thompson for that silver medal or Roje Stona for that gold? Most countries have all of the prices geared towards athletes outlined in plain site but Jamaica doesn't. Jamaica didn't outline any price money for medalists this year. You will need to prove that Jamaica paid those athletes as you suggested because those who have been part of it clearly disagree with you.

    Secondly, as it relates to shelly Ann's injury, she pulling out wasn't my concern. Its the fact that we are yet to heae the extent of the injury. How long it would keep her out of competition? Instead, all we know is that she wasn't fit to run the 100m and the 4 x100. That is the problem I have with ttack and field, everything is so secretive, leaving the public to speculate.

    Why is it so easy for athletes to withdraw at the Olympic Level without verifiable injury? I can understand the Diamond League (or other non-national events) where you represent yourself. But, in an Olympics repping your country, should the criteria be the same? There was another interview with Stephen Francis post Paris 2024 Olympics saying Shericka withdrew because (words to the effect of) 'she would not have been able to have run as she would have liked'. Do agents'/athletes' concerns trump national decisions? If an athlete can't run 'as they would have liked', does it mean they shouldnt run at all? 🤔

  • @anthonyhenry4895
    @anthonyhenry4895 2 месяца назад +1

    Firstly, it is not for athletes to declare their fitness. That's the role of their management team. Futuremore, when a medical assessment is done on an athlete, a projected time is often given as to when they should be fine to compete again ( whether 2,3 to 4weeks). If that assessment is done and they know that the Tim needed to recover extends into the Olympics, why wait until a day or two before the event to pull out?

    this is not an explanation to the question. Fact is that an athlete will always want to compete irregardless. Its not upto the Athelete to compete . They have to be cleared by medical staff . They are injured by tests and investigations determined by medical staff. Its not upto the athlete only. If SJ was injured before the Olympics and it was serious enough she should have been withdrawn . This is what happened bruce made it seem like SJ got injured at the Olympics. Her injury was under reported . It cannot be left to decide she is fit. There are fitness test and medical clearance which ckearly SJ would have failed if properly done b4 the Olympics .
    so Bruce has to be asked would test and procedures that SJ underwent to clear her to go to the oly after that diamond league race b4 the games started?
