@@damianbutterworth9753 Well I am glad you found it at last. There's more video from Lone Justice on this channel and I'm about to upload a full gig from 1985
Agree ! While my friends were into the Sunset hair metal crap I was heavily into this band , Los Lobos, Concrete Blond etc. Lone Justice was a truly underappreciated band ! That 1st record is killer all the way through
Their performance at the ritz was incredible. The band played so Tight and she had so much attitude and a natural performer . The record company ruined them . Such a shame . Maria had the talent to be one of the biggest stars of the 80s
I stumbled onto that video of their performance at the Ritz and was blown away. Then I listened to their record and asked myself “What tool cleaned it up and watered it down?” The strength of Amria’s vocals doesn’t even come through all that well. Sad!
God that debut record was so great! I fell in love with Miss McKee before I even saw anything other than the album cover. That voice and her passion are just like forces of nature. It's a shame that the second album and her own excellent releases never got the exposure they deserved.
When I saw her picture on the album cover, then i played it -- what was that voice doing coming out of this delicate little porcelain doll of a girl? A force of nature.
I saw Maria in London around 1990 - she was absolutely crazy on stage, I have never seen a more gifted and committed performer.. and I have seen quite a lot of shows. How she can have had such a ´´quiet´´ career is beyond me, unless she chose it to be that way. Check out her recordings which are all good if of very variable styles. She is now 60.. how time disappears.
Used to go see them at The Palladium in Santa Monica. There was a moment when that SoCal country punk scene seemed like it was going to be a big thing. The Beat Farmers are the other name that comes to mind. But Lone Justice were the best of that bunch, especially live. They were a great show. Maria had some Chrissy Hynde energy live, dismissive and sneering but full of heart.
This version seems " quieter" ...but, I still absolutely ADORE this woman ... I"m 65 now, so I was NOT a kid when her music came out ...I wore the tape out in my car.
I saw them open up for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in '85, and I remember a stripper I got with around the same time frame that loved this song. Maria (lead singer) was like 18 when this came out.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Despite the years, I remember this performance like it was yesterday. And luckily my friend and I were straight off to the Marquee a few days later to see them live.
Where has this channel been all my life!!! Loved Maria back in the day. Think she got a better response in Europe, which is why I have never seen this performance before. Love you guys!!! Your friend in Florida.
Ways to be wicked is played twice as fast as on the record ! Maria McKee is all about power and passion and she can hit those high notes playing live like no one else. The band's in top shape here and the bass player is even doing some porn star moves ...
I thought the tempo is too high here, but nonetheless this is a brilliant song. I only heard it by chance on local station many years ago, I had never even heard of this band up until that point. Vastly underrated!
You have outdone yourself, STV! My sweet friend Maria McKee. That's my light show at the Ritz! I missed this tour to the U.K., earlier in 1985. Had a great, but short time with them and they were always fun. Never had a bad gig.

The Ritz video? Great concert, watched it many times. More Lone Justice on the way, thanks to some old Beta tapes which were dug out of storage yesterday. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Paul.
Cool, buddy! Oh to have had a digital video camera back in the eighties...What happens on the road....but i saw some great gigs. Have a look at Iggy at the Olympia in Paris. I did the light show of his tour of Australia one month earlier and the French show is tame in comparison to those two weeks down under. Keep up the obscure stuff, fella. ruclips.net/video/N_679Ji0atM/видео.html

It's one of the great tragedies that Maria is not more well known. Unparalleled voice.
SO true
Amazing voice and presence, it really is a sad that she was never big.
Although true, those of us who truly appreciate Maria’s talent can rejoice in the fact that WE knew how great she is.
I know what you mean, but she did still have a massive hit with Show Me Heaven (the main song for Days Of Thunder soundtrack).
@@VanielDeeform Kinda forgot about that, now I need to go listen to that again.
Lone justice at the marquee was the best gig ever
Lone Justice Reunion!!
We wish🙂

She was incredible during those early Lone Justice days, wish I could have seen them then. Thanks for the load

Well you are still young gun on this channel, most of the 132,000 subscribers are in the 60 to 70+ age group. Thanks for watching and commenting 😉
This is delicious loved this band and I adore Maria!
Me too!
Boy they rocked.
Maria was and remains such a talent... thanks for sharing once again
Thanks for watching and commenting Simon
She became a weirdo...not in a good way either.

It was a good time to see them in 85.
Generational talents this band
immense.
They played the Marquee club in London right around this time. It was one of the best shows of my life and I’ve seen hundreds of bands.
June 6th and 7th 1985 at the Marquee, you were very lucky to have been there, but it is scary to realise that it was almost 40 years ago😮
Otimo Folk Country !!!

You very lucky man, I hope the Marquee gig was good.

Always been a big Maria McKee fan. You’re right. I love the Lone Justice albums but it’s was nothing like them live.

I actually prefer the slower tempo on the record but she and the band were AWESOME!!! What the hell happened at their record company??😢❤❤❤❤❤❤

First time I saw the complete broadcast. Thanks so much for the upload!
Our pleasure!
No Auto-Tune, that's all I'm sayin'.
Could they play 'Ways To Be Wicked' a little faster?
They need to give it a bit of a kick!!!
Ways To Be Wicked was written by Tom Petty, but it’s best sung by McKee
...and Mike Campbell, guitarist for the Heartbreakers
IKR?
Heard it first from L.J. love it, but disagree.
the first n best line up.......... the record industry ruined maria mckees career........ jimmy iodine coke dealor to the stars!!!!!!
This is truly awful. Shudders.
