Probably best to get it out of your house asap. The mold will sporulate and can mess with your future grows. Opening that in your house and leaving in your grow area isn't for your future work. Best of luck

It needs to be caught sooner that contam spread is to far along by now and grew more into the substrate than you think Id cut the contam out in a square treat the sides with hydrogen peroxide 3% but 99% of the time I would throw it out clean grain is to easy to make and the substrate is cheap/easy 2 mix yourself. When it comes to Trichoderma once it turns green you should assume its grown deeper into your tub/bag if you can catch it before it turns it can be treated on the surface this is from personal experience. I sterilize all my grain and substrate in bags I add my fully colonized grain to the substrate and give it a day or 2 to grow out in the bag before I then add it to my tubs. All substrates must be fully colonized (white Caked) before adding any casing layers this way casing layers do not need to be pasteurized or sterilized. I rarely get contams maybe 15% of the time if that I have 2 cats and use my closet for mushroom inoculation etc. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V56QH7T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - True HEPA Air Filter

Just a quick tip.....cut the top and bottom off a 2 liter plastic soda bottle. Wash it up real good and disinfect it with isopropyl. Then place the plastic tube over it so that the contam is inside the plastic tube or cylinder. After you have this set up..now you can spray it with hydrogen peroxide, making sure you spray within the cylinder. This will prevent the contamination from sporulating or spreading outward as you mist. The spray bottle not only shoots the hydrogen peroxide but it will also act as a small gust of wind, which causes outward contamination. Basically this is a contam isolation technique.

I've done this before with contaminated cakes that had green mold on them. Out of 12 cakes, 2 had mold on them. I remove only those two and dug the mold out with a sterilized spoon and sprayed them with 3% peroxide. I then mixed a little hydrogen peroxide with distilled water and mist all of the other cakes and put the two i removed back in fruiting. After a few days, my homie texted me pictures of all of them producing hella shrooms even the two that were sick. I got the idea from a guy on RUclips that saved a agar contamination with hydrogen peroxide. The popcorn grain was contaminated which he found out using the agar plate. He took the contaminated grain of corn and soaked it in hydrogen peroxide. He then put that same grain into a new agar plate and it turn completely white with no contamination. I was shocked that it worked. I always keep a mixture of distilled water and peroxide mister on hand. Great video.

It will bubble any where you spray it because it’s eating living tissue such as the mycelium as well as bacteria that is often found throughout the cake but not a problem until the mycelium is weakened from aging or perhaps wet spot bacteria, It would have to be completely sterile and also not have any living cells in order not to form bubbles .

It depends on the type of contamination. I got in the hobby almost 3 years ago. I’ve only had contam twice but both times it was trich. The first time was my very first grow after rehydrating for the second flush. I tried everything. Peroxide, cutting it out, burning it and even as a last ditch effort bleach water solution and nothing worked. No point in trying if you have a trich contamination. Even if you catch it before it produces spores like me. Then the second time was my last APE tub right after the second flush started to come in. So to stop from spreading trich spores all in my area if I see what looks like trich mycelium I don’t open my tub at all. Just keep an eye on it. Then if it doesn’t turn green in a few days it may not be trich. But in my case it was. So I just toss the whole tub and keep it closed. This is one reason why I just buy cheap Walmart tubs. But two tubs out of almost 100 that have gotten contaminated so I’m doing pretty good. I do the no touch tek. 12 on 12 light and FAE filter patches from S2B. I’ve had the best success that way. As long as my substrate is to field capacity I don’t have to open the tub until I start to harvest. Cuts down on chances of contamination. When I do harvest I put the tub on the open oven door with the top element on about 220F to keep that up draft from the heat.

Instead of spraying the H2O2 at an angle towards the center of your substrate, you should have sprayed towards the outside of the tub. You probably just blew a bunch of mold spores all over your mycelium. However, to have any chance whatsoever to actually save your grow, you really have to cut out the infected substrate and separate it from the rest to keep the contam from spreading in order to save the uncontaminated substrate, kind of like severing an infected limb to save the body. Cut it up like a cake, separating the contam from the uncontaminated substrate. Then, spray the edge where you just cut on the uncontaminated piece with H2O2. Then, treat it like BRF cakes, and put it in a fruiting chamber. You will need to hydrate the cakes with a pipette or mister rather than soaking them, as they will crumble and fall apart if you soak them, and then just sprinkle vermiculite on the outside, or roll/dab in verm if you can do it without breaking them.
I am actually currently in the process of doing this procedure to combat Trichoderma, and, after checking the cakes the next day, found new growth of contam on one of the cakes, on the edge where I cut it away from the contaminated substrate. So, I carefully took the cake with contam and cut another slice off and sprayed the edge again with H2O2, recoating with verm and hydrating afterwards. It has now gone another day and showing no clear signs of Trich growth. Mushrooms are growing and getting more pins showing up. It will most likely get overrun with Trich eventually, but at least I will get some fruits from it.

I would suggest cutting out the half of the tub that has the contamination on it and spraying the cake you save with hydrogen peroxide.
I had contamination in a 6qt APE tub, I tried scooping out around the spot, which left a hole about the size of half a softball along the one side, and within 3 days the contamination was growing on the plastic wall of the tub. It’s my first time, and I have 6 other tubs going so I decided “F it let’s try and save this thing.” It was covered in very uniform primordia and just starting the early stages of pinning. It looked like my mycelium was covered in pretzel salt, just a ton of pins forming.
I took it straight outside, and chopped a “hot dog bun” sized piece of very healthy substrate off, sprayed it down with some hydrogen peroxide, and put it into fruiting conditions in a new clean tub.
As I look at it right now, it has multiple one inch mushrooms growing and doesn’t show any signs of contamination other then odd yellowish spots on two of the caps. I swabbed the spots and they don’t smell bad and are clean. Either way I figured I would share my experience.

I have been able to treat trich contamination. But only to get one flush. Trich is usually throughout the substrate and when you rehydrate for the second flush, the trich returns in mass. Trich is a dangerous contaminant and can make you terribly sick. Also once the lid is taken off the trich spores spread through out the room.

One tec is to hit with a flame another is a technique that is not understood but seems to work great . Take a cup of hard wood fuel pellets and soak them for a while use hot water to speed it up then use this water to hydrate your grains and especially your substrate. You can also just mix the saw dust in with the coco or whatever sub you’re using. This is not harmful and seems to work very well so it is worth trying. Do the experiment using several control tubs and if you get tam before the 3rd flush it will be in the control tubs only. I have tested it this way over and over with the same results over a 4 year period . One note if you use regular water to soak, it often breaks the wood force field. You must put a little wood in everything you add . Wood agar wood LC . If you even look it your tubs make sure you drink a little wood tea first but seriously it would work if you try it.

usually, when you're able to see the contam, there is already a network underneath the earth, so you'd have to get that too or it'll just grow back. But in theory, if you spray some peroxide on the visible parts, then cut out that specific area, with some extra margin like 3-5cm outside the edge of the visible areas and then spray the visibly healthy edge walls that is left by the cut, it shouldn't technically have anything allowing it to regrow. This would undoubtedly grow back, as there is mold mycelium underneath the visible parts, the issue is that you need to treat it the very second you notice contam, or you give it time to grow further and contam grows really fast. The more time the contam gets, the more it spreads, you can never kill the contam as there is always gonna be atleast 1 spore or healthy piece that regrows, the objective is to stop the spread, not try to kill it off.

Mix one cup of borax into half a gallon of very hot water, and stir it for about 5 minutes. Then soak the moldy area and whatever surface it's on with the borax water. Allow it to SLOWLY dry as you want the material (wood, carpet, etc) to soak up some of that borax into it as it's drying. Mold can't grow or survive in an alkaline environment. Borax is the secret that mold remediation companies use. People into boating also know this trick. They soak the carpet or anything else that gets wet constantly, in a Borax/water solution and let it dry. When the area gets wet again, and would potentially grow mold, the now crystalized (dry) borax soaked into it, becomes wet and keeps the environment in an alkaline state. This is inhospitable for mold growth. You're welcome. No need to pay for expensive mold remediation. Just hose it down with borax and water and let it dry over the next 24 hours slowly.

This works really well if you get it before it starts to drop spores. I use a lot of H202 in Mushroom growing, it's underrated for sure. I rarely get contamination because I spray everything with it when I first go to bulk. I stop once I start to see mycelium if I don't have contam.

I had no contamination, really couldnt tell at first b/c I'm a new grower. I gave my tub a few sprays of peroxide and my the next day I got 4 new pins. I'm wondering if its okay to spray once a week to prevent contamination....

The peroxide will break down into water so if you don’t dab it all up you’re still good. When I do shotguns I like to add some peroxide to the perlite. Keeps things clean

Man will this work with innoculation jars? 1 of my 3 rye jars has mold and mycelium growing beautifully. It is the green trichoderma. Will the hydrogen affect the mycelium it touches at all? Should i dig the spot of Trichoderma out then hit it with hydro? My myceliem is still in the beginning stages of growth and i dont want to lose a whole batch of grain. I literally have about 5 spots of growth and then one small spot of trichroderma on the side. This is my first batch ever so recommendations welcome.

most of trich comes from grains inside of substrate, so I just cut the contamed part.
So treating only surface will possibly grow trich again😢😢

Also can I use this video a couple days ago I had to get rid of a whole block due to contamination but honestly whenever I broke up the inside of the block had contamination right in the very center of it so I think I would have been screwed straight from the get-go. Maybe I overwatered it trying to putting it into fruiting conditions. But now that I think about it whenever I did to break him shake I had a little bit of soil that came out which tells me that I had a micro tear in it I ended up folding it over and putting some tape over the micro terror but obviously some bacteria spores was able to enter and land on top of the substrate which gave me some black mold looking stuff I sprayed that down with hydrogen peroxide I had the chemical reaction I wiped it off just as you did but something just didn't feel right so I just went ahead to break the block up and get rid of it and that's whenever I found the mold on the very inside of the grow block. I am consistently blown body Uncle Ben's tek. I have never really had contamination using the Uncle Ben's tek, until it came time to do a transfer. Anyway bro thanks for the confidence I am subscribed and await your content daily
