It’s pretty much to stop the airflow by putting your tongue to the mouthpiece and make it sound good (idk if I explained it ok- 💀)
Also it’s not just trumpet any instruments that you have to blow into to play (flute, clarinet, baritone, trombone, tuba, etc.)
