I personally don't understand the rush to get through a Star Path or leveling characters up or dashing through an EP. I don't find it a struggle to level characters up. Doesn't matter what companion job they have, I just have them hang out with me while I do my daily chores in the Valley and eventually, Boom! Next level. It gives me a purpose for opening the game up every day - go have a chat, source fave gifts and gift them, hang out with them while I garden or mine or fish for awhile. If I'm lucky, I can also serve them a meal in a restaurant - have made several level-ups over the years at Remy's! :D That being said, starting over IS overwhelming. I've got a second account that I started to stop the boredom after I'd wrapped EI, and it was SO fun to go back through the first part of this whole story. But SO different - I've been here since Day 1, and so at that point, we were led through each character, one by one, bit by bit, as they added stuff to the game. With so many characters available right at the outset, it is definitely hard to keep track of who to do what with! LOL I keep notes, that helps. AND I've realized that, once again, powering through isn't as much fun as slowing down and enjoying the ride. ;) I play DDLV to build my happy place. And then, when I get new stuff, I sometimes re-build my happy place or experiment with new biomes and looks. But my brain also rather likes repetitive and organizing and sorting and creating, along with conquering quests and storylines. If you are more of a full-on "conqueror" kind of player, it will definitely get boring after you've wrapped a star path or dlc. Then you either have to create your own goals of some sort (re-decorating your entire valley, for instance), or mix up your gaming with other stuff. ;)
I do the same, I still have characters to level up, and starpath duties. Currently building my floating island storage and farm.. my valley is a mess, and now feel I can decorate 🎉
The faster you get your characters up the better it helps get you more quests at higher level but I do each one at a time and don't rush you get too many at once that when you get overwhelm!
i absolutely agree with the chores one… maybe this game just lose the spark little by little overtime😢 the quest seems repetitive. its just different character.. i really play the game just bcs i need to do dreamsnap.. and it gets harder and harder to do it as now there is characters glitch… they became invisible soo many times. the developer need some groundbreaking inovation. not just new dlc
It’s definitely done me good to take time away from it sometimes between star paths, couple of weeks to a month, and play something else, something completely different. I’m not a player who grinds much, which also helps. I get characters to ten before I do their quests, then do a quest and then do something else for a few days or a week. I feel it’s a game that is best played in short bursts and casually, with breaks. I don’t touch quests or anything but giving new characters their favourite gifts, when on a star path.
Another thing to expect when starting over is that the Valley will feel very small considering you only have The Plaza and Peaceful Meadow to begin with, and you can't unlock the other biomes until you've completed the Meadow Orb quest with Merlin. However, I do miss the story/mystery element with the main valley starting out, and I hope the upcoming Skull Rock update next year will kick off a new storyline.
I find it helps to think of the characters as people to care about. It's all about mindset. I want them to be happy. I want them to know I care. I know they're fictional, but this is the way that helps the most. Serving people we care about makes us happy
I agree! I love getting to know them, talking to them and finding out their quirks, interests and personality. I play with my mum sometimes and we look at the daily gifts and say “What do you think they’re making with this?” 😂 When I’m hanging out with them, I try to make it a cohesive day out with them. Using your imagination in a kind of dollhouse way with the game kind of helps me a lot.
The game does feel a little overwhelming and full of chores. What I try to do is decide what my goals are before I load the game. So decorating, or grinding, or spending time on quests. It can be hard sometimes to stick with that, but it helps.
Burnout on any game is possible and you give great suggestions to help with that Serroh as everyone plays for their own reasons and at their own pace. So many ask what’s the benefit(s) of having multiple accounts and I find it’s more a personal preference or benefit rather than a game benefit. Love the game even though this Christmas event was less hyped (which was missed especially as an OG player) and can’t wait to see how it continues to grow.
The one thing that would stop me from ever starting over is the memories, I have most of the memories completed, the thought of having to grind those out again is just something I would never wanna do again. I have 100% cooking, snippet and digging. I have all but the new ones in mining, gardening, and fishing. I am only missing 1 critter fragment minus the new ones. Night Thorns and Flowers are still a work in progress haha. I just don't wanna do all that again lol
You don’t have to reset your game if you’re just wanting to decorate. About a week before the new update I go through and remove everything from my valleys, completely wiped clean. Then I let my spawns go so they build up and plant a couple of patches of vegetables in groups of five. After the update I welcome my new character and then start the starpath. Once all of that is done then I redecorate with the new stuff we get from the path and friendship quests. Then rinse and repeat.
My 17yo daughter just got her switch and game for Christmas. I've only told her about the blue chests everyday. She spent some moonstones in her shop. But not gonna bring up star path until she gets her full valley unlocked.
I had to start over early in after I messed up Ursula's level 10 quest. Luckily, this was before I started playing the star paths, so I didn't lose anything important.
I’d argue and say most of the newer characters have some of the most fun quests. I feel like they are less about doing fetch quests, and more about the characters personally and seeing their interactions.
I feel like I’ve had a bit of a burnout with this last release and star path because of all the glitches with SBV. I haven’t even been able to complete my level 7 friend quests with Merida or Flynn due to these glitches.
People are only mentally overwhelming themselves because they set an unrealistic goal in their minds either by comparing themselves to others or just wanting to rush to get to a certain point. This is a COZY game for a reason. It doesn't help that they have a negative association with the word "chore." Chores are something you do before you are allowed to do "fun things." I wouldn't call them chores, they are "tasks." The developers already call them quests, which even sounds more fun. Those who reword it to their negative meaning won't find it as enjoyable by default.
I really appreciate you making this video! It can get overwhelming, but people have to remember, it's not a race and I'm so glad you stated that. I really hope others don't give up on the game because they want it to move faster. I didn't purchase the Storybook EP for my granddaughter because she already has soooo many quests and characters to level up. She hasn't finished the Forgotten quest yet, but very close now and super excited to only be focusing on that. Thank you again for posting this video! ☺
I just started over with a new game yesterday. IM SO GLAD I DID! It was a hard decision, however I only had 50% of characters unlocked, I’ve only played about 6-8 weeks. I feel a mistake I did was we get quest to go to eternity isle (I bought complete bundle package) and I felt very lost. Way too many quests. And being new it was extremely overwhelming for me. Even thought I had all valley areas unlocked except stupid bridges which I was upset about. (Found a back way in in forest to get to plateau). So last night I started over, within only about 3 or 4 hours Goofy is level 8, other characters level 5 - 6. It’s going very fast this time around since I already know what to expect and do! I want to redo things I didn’t like from my first game. This time I removed ALL decos except signs items around goofy stall. Left all my lights. ALL bushes and majority trees gone. This time around I want a clean open space for places characters houses. First time was a challenge with stuff all over. Besides this a relaxing game, why rush?! Few other reasons I started over. I’m HAPPY I did. But of course right away I have the ability to go to Eternity Isle. If I can, it’s on hold big time. I do NOT recommend opening isle or vale if u bought the expansions when starting game. It’s way too confusing!!! There is a LOT to do in the valley, the main game.
I absolutely have no problem resetting if I choose to because i do enjoy redoing rediscovering every character and next year I'm looking forward to the content
I don't think I would ever restart, too much time and energy has gone into it. However, if I could afford to I would love to start a new game on another platform for comparison sake.
As someone who has two accts maxed out. I don't find it a chore nor do I get bored. I still enjoy the game when I log in every day. Sometimes I do wish we had more to do in the game, but then I remind myself that as a gamer I have lots of other games to play, so I balance my DDV time with the other games I play. My current obsession is "Infinity Nikki"!
I learned very early on not to rush through the game as it’s not fun. I first got it on arcade and rushed to get to the point to unlock the DLC EI. I didn’t even have all the characters, biomes opened etc. I quickly switched to playing via Xbox and I have been taking it much slower and enjoying it. I have both DLC’s but I have not started them yet. It does interfere with the characters favorite items but I’m okay with that. I’m waiting until all characters are level 10 and I have plenty of resources and funds before opening the portal to EI.
I do each character at a time get them to level 10 first off get mickey to level 10 by gardening with him and that will also get your character level up at the same time. Use carrots to make money get your money up because your gonna need every last coin you got get goofy stallll Max and then scooped store me and work from there.
Unfortunately starting over will might be my only option for me, I have everything up until unlocking Sally on my PS4 save but I wanna play my save onto my Switch but I can't because Gameloft hasn't included cross-save onto PS systems, I really hope they do soon because I really don't wanna start over again especially because I have so many unattainable items and other things on my save.
That's why I'm waiting eagerly for the crossave w/ Playstation. I started w/ gamepass and I truly hate playing on Xbox or PC so I've been dragging my feet over the years waiting patiently cuz I simply will not start over. I'd just rather leave it.
I've enjoyed the game, coming up on one year for me. However, the biggest annoyance for me was a quest from Mickey. He had us running all over to get unusual flowers for Minnie (black glass, etc.) And then when you present him with day's worth of scrambling, he rejects the flowers. I wanted to slap Mickey so much.
I have had to restart the game after my cloud storage was compromised when some one came over and dropped a blue chest off at my valley!! Iv lost everything and Gameloft have said they won’t do anything as it wasn’t down to their fault, Iv had my valley since launch so I’m absolutely gutted! I can’t replace that stuff now Iv been made redundant and was looking forward to getting the new dlc but I just don’t anymore but I love the game :( so gutted
If anyone wants to start over, you will lose a lot of items. Such as the 2022 Mickey ears and the RGB Twitch drops. You will keep all star path items though.
Me too. However, it is important to note, you always need to unlock whichever charater(s) they just released towards the end of the star path. There are star path duties that involve the new character(s). But, you only need them at level 2 to complete those star path duties. Luckily, getting a villager to level 2 is super simple.
One glitch i found when i was completing belles lvl 10 quest- i already had my library (merlins house) on my plaza floating island- and then when i attempted to place the ancient book artifact by the library up there it didn’t recognize it was placed there- had to move library back to regular valley- i have no interest in floating islands i dont decorate
I always start with Characters, then their quests as i open up my valley then that free's up time to hammer out the starpath also the wiki is good to see what tasks are coming up so you can double those up
I had the game both dlcs and 2 star paths completed in 34 day's... now im out of everything apart from remys daily quest.... if it wasnt for the few time locked guests i would have had it done in half that time... i am already ready for a new dlc and updates... i have far too much stuff in Farming... yet i cant stop farming daily!!!!! I need more content than the average person. 😂😂
Halloween give gifts to both of them you don’t have to do only one. Same with the other ones. Give favorite or talk to everyone in that group. Been done with star path for 4 days now. There will be talk to daisy about you doing her quest of doing her stage, 3 in a row. Wait until you get all together and they count at the same time. The house on last stage of star path is 120 or 150 to unlock.
I play them both too but I almost prefer ACNH because when you clear sticks and other spawns that are in the way they STAY cleared for the rest of the day! I never realized how much I loved that until I started playing DDLV! I got DDLV for the decorating but the constant random spawns ruins the decorating for me. I do very little decorating in DDLV now because it never stays looking nice for more than a few minutes so it feels pointless. :(
I bought DDV when it was first released but I stopped playing for a year. When I just started playing again last month and I’m happy that I’m at level 40 but I also feel like I missed out on sooo much.
for my second account i'm just taking it slow. i started it around the same time you started your 3rd. i'm a bit further because i wasn't waiting for a specific day like you for you to do it on stream. but i'm not going to take it very seriously. i'm going slow, i stopped doing anything on it for several weeks after the SBV DLC came out and only just went on it again a couple nights ago for maybe 30 minutes to an hour. checked scrooge's and did a dreamsnap that was about it. i don't plan on getting all the normal scrooge items for a very long time. don't be chasing those premium items, unless i really start picking up moonstones from my snaps. not doing the starpath this time, don't have the moonstones or resources anyway. mostly just wanted to start over to revisit all those old quests that, like you said in the streams, i don't really remember
So I was thinking about star paths and that new players have to pay a lot to get items, i think it would be nice to have a way to do old star paths like if we had to pay for them but not has much as the items are now. As when the game was going to be free to play fine let players who paid for the game have some items no one else has, but now we all have to pay why can't we all have them?
I know nothing about building games, but it seems like if the star path is already build, they could load the past ones into the game and charge a fee for people to buy and play them.
As someone who just started playing in late November I would love a way to do the old star paths. I feel like I've missed out on so much by being a new player. A problem I'm having with this star path is that it's making me get characters and complete things more quickly then I'd like to be. I wish it didn't include interacting with characters and places I don't have yet.
Someone said if you give them pure dream shards, 10 min straight it will take to lvl them up to 10. I think its more than 40 needed i dont fully remember? Maybe it was 240? Idk
The Starpath is far to grindy. It takes way too long to complete and it keeps getting longer with each new starpath. I want to gather stuff and build but my available time is spent completing the starpath and my leftover time is used on quests. The game forces people to play rather then making it something people want to enjoy. Not everyone can play multiple hours a day.
I disagree. I say open Storybook Vale early because you can easily unlock the woods and start growing Rhubarb to get money. I had over a million dollars within a few days of starting a new save.
I started a 3rd account on my iPad. The only issue with it is because apple arcade doesn't allow micro transactions i don't have access to the premium shop or any star paths. I would never be able to have my main account on that device. I'd be missing out on way too much content.
@ChicagoMel23 no idea but it makes for a good 2nd account. It still has online so I can visit my other accounts. It just sucks I can't get any items that aren't part of the game. But you do get instant access to all dlcs without having to buy them.
I find it very difficult to decorate on the switch. Things don’t move the same anymore and it’s so frustrating. I was thinking of getting it for desktop. Can I play my same game in both? Will it keep my changes from desktop to switch?
@@BlueBraviaryGirl hmmm wonder if there is something wrong with my game then. When I select an item to move and place I used to be able to use the right button to move it around. Now the item stays in place or it gets stuck half in view and half out of view and I have to use my finger to place it. Also I used to be able to drag a building all over the valley and I can no longer do that. Not really sure how to explain it well. Also forgot to say… I can’t move Merlin’s house to the island like he asked. It won’t save the house and I have no way to drag it to the island. 🤷🏻♀️.
I love this game. But I can't do anything because I bought mine on the switch it's been three years there never going to fix the game every game fixes their games if they bugs but not. game loft it's mind blowing that they won't fix their game I had to get a refund and not going to keep playing game in hopes of them fixing it
I bought DDV when it was first released but I stopped playing for a year. When I just started playing again last month and I’m happy that I’m at level 40 but I also feel like I missed out on sooo much.
What are your tips for new players?

There is no way I’m starting over my game.
When I started my second account, I had my first account helping out my second quite a bit. It helps with a lot of that slowness annoyances.

I'm not sure if it impacted gameloft, but there were so many tech/gaming lay offs this year that maybe that is why we got less this Christmas?

I play them both too but I almost prefer ACNH because when you clear sticks and other spawns that are in the way they STAY cleared for the rest of the day! I never realized how much I loved that until I started playing DDLV! I got DDLV for the decorating but the constant random spawns ruins the decorating for me. I do very little decorating in DDLV now because it never stays looking nice for more than a few minutes so it feels pointless. :(
Aw we will get updates though
I wish they would let you give them multiple gifts in threes for how many things they want for the day.
You couldn’t pay me to restart this game. I had to restart during beta due to a glitch and I will never do it again, it was painfully slow.
I bought DDV when it was first released but I stopped playing for a year. When I just started playing again last month and I’m happy that I’m at level 40 but I also feel like I missed out on sooo much.
You mean DDV?
@ yes my phone autocorrected. But you got what I meant.
for my second account i'm just taking it slow. i started it around the same time you started your 3rd. i'm a bit further because i wasn't waiting for a specific day like you for you to do it on stream. but i'm not going to take it very seriously. i'm going slow, i stopped doing anything on it for several weeks after the SBV DLC came out and only just went on it again a couple nights ago for maybe 30 minutes to an hour. checked scrooge's and did a dreamsnap that was about it. i don't plan on getting all the normal scrooge items for a very long time. don't be chasing those premium items, unless i really start picking up moonstones from my snaps. not doing the starpath this time, don't have the moonstones or resources anyway. mostly just wanted to start over to revisit all those old quests that, like you said in the streams, i don't really remember
I haven't touched this game since I downloaded infinity nikki
me too. rarely plays the game
Sad
I just restarted a while ago and I don't regret
The Star Path can be finished in 8 days with the extra stuff . ⭐🌟🤩🌠
I’m looking into getting a gaming computer or something other than Xbox . If I do that I may start over but yea all that grinding sooo idk
I recently reset my profile because I was done with everything and got bored lol 😆
Iv only been playing the game for a few months. So im still technically a newer player lol
I started a 3rd account on my iPad. The only issue with it is because apple arcade doesn't allow micro transactions i don't have access to the premium shop or any star paths. I would never be able to have my main account on that device. I'd be missing out on way too much content.
Yeah why won’t they allow it?
@ChicagoMel23 no idea but it makes for a good 2nd account. It still has online so I can visit my other accounts. It just sucks I can't get any items that aren't part of the game. But you do get instant access to all dlcs without having to buy them.
Hi Serroh.
I find it very difficult to decorate on the switch. Things don’t move the same anymore and it’s so frustrating. I was thinking of getting it for desktop. Can I play my same game in both? Will it keep my changes from desktop to switch?
I don’t have a problem decorating myself. What do you mean don’t move the same? I haven’t noticed any changes aside from the path laying
Hiiii seroh ooo I was first here today! Happy holidays thankyou always for your tips! X
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great day
How do you have a second account ?????
It might be easier since he’s on pc
You buy the game on a different platform and not import your save. I have 2 accts myself. My main on Switch and my alt on PS5.
I love this game. But I can't do anything because I bought mine on the switch it's been three years there never going to fix the game every game fixes their games if they bugs but not. game loft it's mind blowing that they won't fix their game I had to get a refund and not going to keep playing game in hopes of them fixing it
Hi Serroh Why Can’t I Move Tiana’s Restaurant And Her Stall To Storybook Vale
The game doesn't allow it. No one can
@@mattfiorello6964 No idea
@@mattfiorello6964bc gameloft didn’t allow it, we don’t know why but any of the restaurants or stalls can’t be moved to the DLC
I bought DDV when it was first released but I stopped playing for a year. When I just started playing again last month and I’m happy that I’m at level 40 but I also feel like I missed out on sooo much.
What’s DVL?
