When you disconnected the battery give it 5 minutes before you disconnect the air bag ports and use a freaking plastic pick or wedge and not a metal one. Less chance of a possible airbag deployment.
From my experience, yes, I am changing mine for the second time. First time was 2 years ago. I did buy a cheapo one from eBay. Better than what Toyota would charge. It's a pretty easy job to do.
Great Drew, as always. Was wondering about the home position when playing the gambling game of used clock springs. If I can find the time, I want to disassemble one and find the short and see if I can repair with a flexible conductive adhesive. Not sure just how yet as did find soldering fails shortly.
@@DrewGarage Right on! I DIY, so for me hard to pass on the $10 yard ones from the cars that look like they're taken care of well. Success so far, though is like a casino that I don't go to. I prefer the gamble at the yards since sometimes genuine OEM score nicely and when knowing what I'm looking for usually win. 🙂 Thank you so much as usual! Great content Man!
@@jafinch78 Thanks for the kind words =) yes thats a good way to gamble - winnings are cheap fixes and "losses" are experience doing good work. I say win win. For me, it's hard because the yard is 55 minutes away, and I am consistently WAYYYYY behind with work. I am SUPER blessed to say, we've been getting about 3 only orders for every 5 local test-drives-purchases. So It's a weird busy. But again, very blessed.
My mechanic fixed my rack and pinion for 06 Prius. After he gave me back the car my cruise control stop working & my info button wouldn't work when I press from the steering wheel. Do you think mechanic get something wrong that's why the button is not working?

Screw this.. no need to, I'll just reach over and turn what i need on..😂
But great video!! Best one I've seen on this..
Great video, Drew! Would this be the right fix if only a few of the buttons are not working?

I think absolutely

Thank you =) Well I would personally just get a new one - it's not a hard job so a cheap ebay one is fine and the time saved is worth it

Brilliant!
Well thank you! Very appreciated :-)
tnx
What name this part ? Could you put links?
Clockspring.
why dont people tell viewers to mark the spindle to wheel alignment before pulling it?????
It’s not necessary- if you centered when you pull, there should be no need. Off a spline is a substantial amount of rotation
Thanks, Drew! I followed your steps, and this was way easier than I was expecting.
@@shelbybradley9450 I'm very glad to hear it!
