Good Ep.
Thoughts on showing the N⋅m number at the End?
What kind of quarter mile times would 320 at the wheels do just curious could you guys take it to the race track before going stage 3
so is HALTECH going to have a special now on the BARRA ELITE PRO?
Haltech would you’s know full retail price for what you have done so far I’m seriously looking into one of these for a daily now
Three stages of beards. Stage 1: Scotty Stage 2: Richard Stage 3: Benny
Scotty makes up for it by being 8 feet tall
Benny's walk in..... Godly
I am so hype with this series. XD
Project car, more tuning fork, more tuning.
What's not to love honestly?
What he said 😁
i am actually hopeful that i will see this car on tuesday.
You know the car and the vids going to be good when you have both tuning fork and mechanical stig. Loving the build.
don't forget the mayor! (richard)
“We are not hooning or anything “… Immediately starts hooning 😂🤣
Cool series Scotty. I wish they would have exported these to the US.
We would have if we thought you could handle them. J/k.
Could you imagine if the family 4-door here was a RWD turbo car from the factory? The race/drift world over here i think would be WAY more active. So sad all our North American cars are FWD...
So unfortunate Ford didn't sell these in the US. It is so much more appealing than a Fusion or Taurus that I may have actually bought one.
Jess Neal ford Australia offered to bring the ford falcon over to America to be used as cop cars, Ford America declined and opted to use local vehicles instead. Could’ve had the Barra in full force in America !!
@@rlsimpso I like see the Falcon as their much older more mature brother
You need another shoutout from MCM to get you more love, because this series is awesome so far!
I’ve got mad respect for extremely talented tuners. Takes tons of practice and lots of knowledge
Nice explanation off what dyno tuning is really all about. Hours of changing the map in small steps. Now you know why it costs so much to really map a car. Thanks for the nice episode!
Richard NZ If you make big changes it sometimes does take hours to get it right. Full throttle runs are generally pretty easy and quick to tune. It’s all the little driving stuff and reliable start/idle that can take a lot of time.
@Richard NZ Maybe you have good tuner who can do it quicker but is is better?
Nice shout out to B is for Build! :D
I really like this series!
Next up: LSD and a big whacking turbo!
New video from Haltech = instant like
I'll never forget that 1st drive after my first mods to my G6ET.
love how he actually uses the step ladder haha
It's tough standing next to Scott...
@@haltech how tall is he?
@@julienfoss1392 ruclips.net/video/XfuhEZsWc_k/видео.html 😁
The look on his face after he said " I know I'm big"
😂😂😂
Scotty needs to do a show with Edd China. That way, at least there'll be no height issues. :-D
That's if anyone can find Edd, he seems to have disappeared.
He's still around
Making tea in shropshire
In the U.S. an open diff is called the "One Tire Fire."
Great results so far, can't wait for the next chapter in the OGSIXE story!
We call them a single pegger here mate 👍
and over here they're called a one wheeler peeler.
One wheel banana peel 🍌
benny and richard have to have the best beards in the whole aussie auto scene!
This is an awesome series so far! Its great to be able to see things being done and getting a bit of technical explanation about why along with it. Being from S.A. I would love to see you guys do a VE/VF SV6 Commodore in the same way. A lot of people probably wouldn't find that as interesting but I think it would be a good comparison.
Tuning Fork AND Mechanical Stig in the same video! let me get my popcorn. I would have liked an overlay of stage 1 and stage 2 dyno graphs. I imagine that the mid range torque gains are impressive! the area under the curve always feels better on the butt dyno than a peak hp#. did the transmission get tuned for the increased power? I am enjoying the series so far, keep up the good work!
This is when you see tuning forks car mania appear hahahahahaha always so reserved. But then turbo. Giggles. Very nice! Im loving this series from a total layman's perspective!!!
I remember having to make my own engine protection systems for things like fuel pressure, oil pressure etc . I used PIC micros,a couple 555's and relays, they where crude but worked saving a few motors. I swear you guys have made things too easy these days, yet so many still don't use whats there.
These are surprisingly nice cars to drive. My old man has one and I was impressed with how refined it was knowing how older Ford's like the AU drove.
The perfect road car tune:
- has a dead straight torque v rpm plot
- has a perfectly horizontal torque v rpm plot over say at least 2000rpm to max rpm
- at all throttle openings
Assuming you gave good road tyres and a compliant suspension with decent geometry, then on a soaking wet, super complex twisty road, with rapid elevation changes;
- traction is available everywhere all the time to the traction limit
- approaching the traction limit can be easily felt from several hundred rpm away
- riding the absolute traction limit is trivial, because the throttle response is perfectly linear and backing off slightly on the throttle engages traction
- placing the rear axle on the road is a precision exercise
If you think that is an oversell, think about how you would ride the traction limit on say a wet road using a braking system:
- that has a complex torque curve, that is the brakes grap and release in a complex and effectively unpredictable manner
- that has a torque delivery that is dead flat and horizontal for all wheel rpm and that supplied torque is a linear function of brake pedal force.
my g6et has PW intercooler, injectors, 100 cell cat and xcal4 - dyno tuned got 800nm and 300rwkw. gets 8-10l/100km everywhere. Amazing car.
I put a tru trac lsd, coilovers with stiff bushes all around, upgraded dba t3's slotted front and rear brakes with bendix heavy duty pads to help my 407rwkw g6e mk1 perform and handle better and are a must in my book!
What are you doing with your G6E that exceeds the capability of the stock brakes?
@@bengibson3955 driving normally at stock power exceeds the stock brakes haha
@@bondom69 are you getting fluid boil or pad fade?
I'm glad he addressed the afr in this vid.
"Traffic lights, where green is go, red is go faster?" lmao!
I was waiting for the MCM shoutout with "and these are the tools you're going to need". Or Benny just walking by and pulling off the front bumper. But neither happened :( lol
Thanks Scot and Richard watching the G6E transformation is quite exciting. Us Aussie Ford people are so lucky to have the Barra platform. Thanks Haltech for the heart of the project.
Little Aussie Follower ...,.
Another awesome video guys!! Looking forward to the next episode. One of the few channels that gives an open insight into the tuning aspects behind making power. Keen to learn more about the haltech systems, for my own future applications. Keep it up!
Even with forced perspective Scotty is a giant!
Loving this series!!
We are stoked that so many people enjoy it too:) Thanks for watching!
3 of the coolest guys on earth
"just gonna hang on to the Jesus handle"... 😂
Interesting thing about the cruise control is that it can be adjusted with modern cars. I had a Volvo 850 T5, this has a cable throttle with a special controller with a PID control method which works perfect with the standard turbo. So after a remap with bigger injectors and a bigger turbo, the cruise control was un-usable at 100km/h. because there was turbo lag before 3000rpm, and crusing along at 2750. When it tried to come back up to 100kmh it would keep pulling throttle open because the PID controller wasn't seeing the required gain in acceleration. Then it would come on boost and it would snap the throttle shut because it would suddenly exceed the target speed - which dumped all the boost, lost some road speed. Rinse and repeat hahah!
17:21 Gotta love those Falcon Thermos 😂
Valve Springs Next?
Really enjoying this series guys, good for us all to see what goes into proper dyno tuning. Thanks for sharing 😀
What a Jem of a unit
Great job
12:00 - "Red is go faster." LMAO
looks like the mayor became the magnet...aka the bolt holder 🤣🤣🤣
another cool video , thanks mr fork , mr stig and the magnet 😜😜😜
haha the magnet
The Barra is a cool motor. I wonder if Ford had used it in North America if people would have "got it", or stuck with the V8. Loved my old straight 6 in my ancient F150. Easy to work on and it wouldn't die, truck fell apart before the motor did;)
I love this barra build
It's always very interesting to listen to Scott's metaphoric explanations and learn! Additionally the level of production quality got great! #veryEntertaining
There are alot of fantastic questions on here I've always wanted to know.... great video guys, wow
Love the question about the coloured cells in the fuel/ignition map and if it was white it would be like a excel spread sheet.. Sounds like how the E series haltechs where
Thank you very much for your time !! I did learn a lot !! Well done
Love these videos from you guys! So much information. I always learn so much.
Very happy for the next installment. Thanks Haltech
Really good episode. What stands out is the way Scotty explains everything so clearly in real terms (which is completely missing from 90% of car based you-tubers channels.)
Keep up the good work guys!
Loving the video's! Tuning fork killing it
Y'know there's two things I've never bothered asking but have almost always wondered since seeing them...
1) How tall *is* Tuning Fork?
2) How long *is Mechanical Stig's beard??*
We can answer the first one: ruclips.net/video/XfuhEZsWc_k/видео.html
The second is a mystery, even to us.
Great to see other Aussie parts makers getting a shoutout
Loving the series boys, lots of small details to pick up and learn. Think I need a G6E now 😍
I would have gone with the KPM streetfighter in tank pump instead of the plazmaman surge tank. Just a better fuel legal system and not to mention legal in my state. But I guess if plazmaman is paying for the mods, what can you do.
looking forward to the track footage boys great series
Great video! Can't wait till the next one
Great job gents. Keep it going 👍🏻
Loving this series lads,
Great vid guys look forward to the next episode. One thing i was wondering how much boost did you need to make the 320 kw.
Awesome videos keep them coming 👍🏻👍🏻
You know it's going to be a good episode when Scotty fists the dump pipe.
The old "Vin Diesel" step ladder mod....
Thats the worst thing about G6E That open diff sucks way too much torque on tap
"I know that I'm Big" *fists downpipe... -- Scotty 2019
And Diff bushes, 😂, love the build,
I've had turbo cars before and I prefer to keep it stock. Because with every modification you make, you introduce lag or make the powerband worse. I'm all about naturally aspirated now.
mrnicktoyou nope. That car has a small turbo for the engine size and there is no noticeable lag. Huge mid range torque on these turbo engines that you will never get on a NA.
@@nordic5490 the difference between off boost and full boost is the problem. And when you tune the engine, you make that transition even more pronounced which makes it worse imo. Maybe I'm in a minority but turbo engines are best when factory stock.
G6E came with ford's Tru-Loc. Horrible design lsd, within 40,xxxkm or a couple burnouts clutch packs wear the friction material off and acts like an open diff.
Replace it with a eaton trutrac, at the same time would be worth while putting some super pro bushes in the back.
Stamwel tops awesome view and the drive there is remarkable thank you guys i'm looking forward to the next episode ☺☺☺.
*Stanwell
Oooops sorry Mr bitter 😭😭😭
Love this series. If you switch from a Platinum to an Elite can you just basically "copy n paste" your tune?
Basically in order to gain that "self learning" functionality.
Wish I had a Benny to fix all my car problems!
It is soooo handy!
Good stuff boys. Good to see Richo getting dirty
He isn't as useless as he claims to be 😂
Australia is beautiful
i love how he fisted the dump pipe to show us how big it was hahaha
I always liked the G6E, classy but sporty, adding nearly 100 rwkw with bolt ons and tuning is amazing, I wonder how it would do on the drag strip
Fattypuds U did this on my FG XR6T. The small factory turbo spools up instantly with no lag and roll on double peggers (has LSD) in 2nd up a hill is easy.
Still not used to seeing Scott outside of MCM.
More than 100Hp *edit nearly 200Hp with simple bolt on, include Haltech ECU, holy crap, unfortunately this car and engine only in AUS, is so massive. and with upgrade the Turbo this is easily 500++ Hp, Scotty your'e legend for tuning, glad see this series :D
Truthfully for the money invested to hp gains is close to a 20:1 ratio.. The ecu alone is friggn pricy.. and the plasmaman stuff is not cheap either..
Z Ack the ecu, surge tank, fuel regulator and exhaust is not required to make 320rwkw. Smaller intercooler doesnt require cutting the car and supports 470rwkw. Factory ecu & fuel reg is fine but the oem cat chokes it. A 5" 100cpi cat + stock exhaust supports 320rwkw.
Great show guys 👍🏻
When you're such a big lad you need to carry a courtesy step ladder for the rest of us :D
B is for Benny :D
good content guys, keep it up
This series is going to be Mint 👍
Nice work boys!
Well done!
Cheers!
B is for Buil.... B is for Barra
There’s that single spinner again 🤣
Great series guys, would be good if you could add the cost of the individual parts in the mods list👍

im just here sprunging for juicy juicy information 🤗
do you have to say it like "add" and "remove" timing because of political correctness? 😂
Time for some MCA coilovers, 50mm internal gate, GTX3582r Gen2, Transmission Cooler, tailshaft and GET RID OF THAT FACTORY BOV AND GET A LSD!
Gtx3576r is all you need mate, the gtx3582r is old. Quicker spool time in the 76r and with e85 your looking at mid 400's.ive got the 76r on 98 pushing 407rwkw and i always out perform cars with the 82r without losing streetability!
@@Deadshilz lol what? gtx3576r is slower lol spool time is maybe 100rpm quick yet power wise over 50-100kw at certain rpm. No ones runs gtx3576r on barras lol unless you doing it for track racing.
@@Deadshilz Maybe you'll out perform them 0-60kph but onwards you won't.
@@Monstero5o proved and tested, 76r comes on 2700rpm, 82r comes on at between 3400 and 3600rpm. I have all the power on my car earlier than the 82r's i faced on the street and on the strip, and its that spool rate that gives me the edge. It made be a smaller turbo, but when are you ever able to use the full potential of a 82r! I never been able to max my car out and still beat an 82r. Theres more streetability in a 76r and youll just fry your tyres with a 82r, i know i had that set in my car and the 76r is far better!
@@Deadshilz lol is that why i have full boost of 23psi and 1300nm at 2450rpm lol please you're talking to a guy that lives in a tuner shop. And my car puts all the power down ;) 305 rears tein coilovers and every bush replaced with superpro lol so no, your 76r wont win. :P
Awesome series tuning fork.
Highly recommend some decent quality rubber.
Just switched to 265 Toyo T1rs on my car.
Grip & traction for days!
Absolute massive improvement.
I can’t believe you gave him a step ahah 🤣
I know this was done awhile ago now but if you need a new home for the factory exhaust and cooler I can offer them a good one. 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm late as hell, but i want to ask a question. how aggressive does Tuning Fork allow the ECU to be to maintain closed-loop parameters? great series💪
“Like traffic lights, where green is go and red is go faster” 😂
I heard you talk about your air fuel ratio you were running but what was the injectors' duty cycle at the afr you were running on last dyno pull? Also how much psi were you running turbo at?
Beautiful Beast...
Loving these videos, would love to see the torque curves though.
