Oh My God! I love that you have so many started, cause now I don’t feel so bad on how many I have started and not finished. Thank you for this!

HaHa! After watching all the WIP parades, I feel so much better because in comparison we don't even have that many.

Thank you Mary Beth and Helen. Totally got a lot of ideas, and fabric counts, to get right into counted cross stitching. My crafty parade is a bit of knitting, sewing, and right now, a whole lot of stitching. Your colours are very inspiring.

Your podcast popped up in suggestions, and the timing was perfect!! I really overdid the knitting in the fall to 2 weeks before Christmas. My hands were so sore...couldn't finish 3 gifts. So...this past week I pulled out some xstitch that has been tucked away for years. This podcast was just the "push" I needed to really get me psyched!! Thank you! 😊

You probably already know about Lindy Stitches but her patterns seem like something you would enjoy! I was cross stitching like a maniac until I lost vision in my left eye. I still love seeing what people are stitching...thank goodness I can still knit!

You have inspired me! What a great idea to personalize your cross stitch for your brother. I just ordered like 5 books on designs, so I can do one for my daughter. I’m three years out, and there may be lots of tears, but it will definitely be a labor of love. Love your pod casts.

We understand how difficult it will be for you. We are two years out on both our brothers and it's still very hard but as you said a labor of love and maybe some catharsis?

i am sure you have seen people doing a motif a week on a project so they can grow it without it having a lot of pressure. I am going to start a forest grew this year and intend to do it this way.

That’s what we are planning for the larger Owl Forest pieces.

Have you tried washing the crunchy fabrics to get the starch out? I hear people have success with that. I don’t stitch in hand, so stiff fabric doesn’t bother me.

How do you keep track? Your patterns are lovely but I would go crazy with so many .

We spent several days organizing our projects in preparation for this video and now we are using a Book of Days to keep track of all our WIPs and potential starts.

I stitch with two strands on 18 count Aida. I prefer the coverage.

    • @ToadHollowNJ
      @ToadHollowNJ  5 дней назад

I have always stitched with two threads on 18. It's just recently that I'm seeing people go over to one strand on 18/36 and up. I think it all depends on the project, if it's very dense or fully coverage I can see the benefit of one strand.

I found a number of free patterns from Owl Forest....in Russian. Where did you find your patterns in English?

This is where we get our Owl Forest. They usually download with both Russian and English. owlforest.co.uk

    Thoughts:
First I noticed that you indicated you had some technical issues: you did a GREAT job with this video! What technical issues?
TOADS: you have a community here that you can draw on… need a floss? Ask and I might have it! “Shipping” might be cheaper too!
I haven’t done cross stitch in quite a while and I love the work the you show! Bees are the knees! Mices are nices too! 😊
    Be well friends!

We have tried that and it does loosen it a little, but the really crunchy Aida stays pretty stiff.
