When I saw this, I thought it was funny that they challenged Death to board games. He was probably used to sword fights, horseback riding, swimming, more gladiatorial style contests but her comes Bill and Ted playing Battleship and Clue. Lol. Great comedic device!
I forgot just how funny this film was! It’s a spoof of a scene in the 1957 (I think) film The Seventh Seal, when Max Von Sydow plays Death at chess. Edit. By a bizarre coincidence, I was just watching the Chase on TV (literally about five minutes after writing my above comment) and a question just came up asking which game was played with Death in the Seventh Seal! Oh, and it confirmed I was right about the year! While I know that playing chess with Death is quite a well known thing, but I have no idea how I knew about the film (the Seventh Seal, not Bill & Ted), as I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen it!

I feel this is what hell is actually like. Like death challenges you to a game and in return he'll let you go to heaven or go back to life and you keep winning but he keeps upping the rules every time for eternity
One of my all-time favorite comedies that I think is so truly underrated! When death sticks his foot in Alex Winter's face I just die laughing every time. I hate Twister with a passion and would pretty much rather challenge death to a cage fight than that awful game! lmao

USS California & USA Nevada (CAN)/California Arizona Nevada) they have three players, three ships in real Life, but only two Battleships come with the game BattleShip.
Since Death played chess with the protagonist of Seventh Seal, this somehow feels like a natural progression.
Definitely a reference to the Seventh Seal
The side glance Death gives when he says, "um, best two out of three". Still makes me crack up.
"NO WAY""...
"YES VAY"
The most bullshit side glance I've ever seen it was comedy gold 🤣.

the fact that they’re playing board and modern games just makes it far funnier
And they are all Parker Brothers games.
Hillarious to see William Sadler playing this role after playing Colonel Stuart in Die Hard 2.
He's the best thing in this movie
Luther Sloan on Deep Space 9.
