I live in Casper, WY. During covid, we had a few days that people with guns posted up on street corners downtown. I'm a hospice nurse. Co-worker and I were getting ready to go into the home of a 98 year old WWII vet. OF COURSE we were putting on masks during covid before visiting that gentleman. Truck with a Trump flag and an American flag (I hate what the truck flags have done to our country's flag, the meaning it now holds on the back of those trucks) swerved hard to hit a puddle, soaking us and coming about 6 inches from hitting me. Because they saw us putting on masks. Make no mistake, we cannot let Trump win. MAGA is batshit crazy, and if you don't live in a hardcore red state, you don't even really get the full meaning of that.

First of all thank you for continuing to help during that time. I live in a blue state but I do have a neighbor & she fits the description of a MAGA including conspiracies and all. I am very tolerant with her so I can understand but what she says is so hateful and racist etc, I had to stop visiting her. I can’t image being surrounded by that. There’s no Chang in her mind. I often wondered why those at Trump's rallies are confused by what Trump attempts to say, especially when Trump can't even finish a sentence and now I know why. Trump speaks their same hillbilly language.

I spent years in TV production. My two cents for him:
Get a bossy producer to control the flow and outcome at these events with a GoPro wide shot. A good producer will shut down hecklers, screen people, schedule interviews, end interviews, and help you get in and out quickly. Explain your video filming policies, broadcast rights, your ethical standards, and address editing/context policy all in a printed hand-out. The producer can use it to brush people off. A producer can be a witness with video to press charges and call the police if it gets out of hand. You shouldn't have to do anything more than interview. Also, If they talk in the background off camera you can film them too in the scene, don't let bullies be anonymous. They can walk away if they don't want to be filmed. No one has a legal right to privacy in public, and having them on camera may keep you safer than requiring witnesses to reconstruct any altercation. Know your legal rights and when a threat requires legal action, look for volunteer attorneys for the arts in your area to advise you. Keep up the excellent journalism Luke!
