Doesn't matter, some people are more passionate about it than others. Hugh Grant has been acting for decades and he has said that it's just a job to him, not a passion. It's refreshing to see that Jonah does this because he truly loves it, not just for a big paycheck.
John 1112 Jonah Hills contract for this movie was only $60,000. He did it because he wanted to work with Martin Scorcesse or whatever the fuck his name is lol
I have already loved him as an amazing actor but after this interview, I have so much more respect for this guy. The passion he has for this role and acting in itself is tremendous.
I can't believe he got paid only 80,000 for his role. He was incredibly awesome he deserves an oscar! They should pay him the double what he deserve. LOVE HIM
A few years late here, but generally, films usually take 45-90 days to shoot but The Wolf of Wall Street is an exception. I guess they really wanted to reach their expectation for the movie and that's why it took 10 months of shooting which is also why they shot so many takes.
he has.. good to see that Jonah has come so far since superbad n minor small roles like in "forgettin sarah marshall" in which he was hilarious... happy that he's not stuck in just comedy
Proud of Jonah, he got this part by being able to visualize himself so much that he believed he was the character, take notes you actor wannabes.... If you try so hard and can see yourself doing something, own it and believe it and trust me you will get what you desire. So proud of this guy, perfect example of how hard work paying off
For those of you who didn't understand what working for "scale" is, it means Jonah worked for the minimum that an actor can be paid. He received 60,000 dollars, which is literally nothing, seeing as how he made over 15 million for Moneyball and probably more for 21/22 Jump Street. Just goes to show you some of these actors really work hard for the money they make. Actors when starting out generally make less than even the average salary. Just got to be lucky at some point.
+ParkPR0DUCTI0NS He was just so excited to even be offered the part. If an actor really connects with a character they still consider it an honor to be in that movie even if it means taking a pay cut. Plus, if the role is actually really good it can get you more roles so it can still make you money.
Jonah's great. How he got the role is enlightening. Shows that success is pursuing what you love, taking risks, having initiative, and being willing to sacrifice things for long-term goals, like being in a Scorsese film.
His story is so cute and it feels great to see an actor so passionate about his job, even when he's already famous. Like it was his dream to work with Scorsese and he made it. That's great !
the shooting period of this movie was 10 months, and Jonah Hill was paid 80,000 $ for his entire movie role, becuase he offered to do the part for free, than later the producer paid him 8,000 pr month a total of 80 Thosands $. But he gained alot more than just the money, His prise went up by double of what his regular rate was becuase of his awsome performance. i Google believe me this..
I couldn't even imagine anyone but Jonah in that role, can't believe they had a list of other people before him, how insulting! He is one of the best actors of our generation, can't wait to see what he puts out for years to come!!
There you go. A more than perfect example that an actor who loves his role and the film and dedicates everything with unlimited passion to it also makes the best job. Great!
Wolf of Wall Street is maybe my favorite movie... DiCaprio was awesome as always... Jonah Hill has been in great movies also: Superbad, (Cyrus sucked in my opinion) Funny People, 21 Jump Street was funny, then we get to Moneyball and Wolf of Wall Street, both awesome and Jonah was definitely the right one for those parts.
+Jania Maria I'm surprised he didn't mention "21 Jump Street" as one of his best movies. I think that movie put him into "leading man" status. I'm really glad he's turned out to be such a versatile actor. I mean, in the last five years he's worked with Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, AND Leo DiCaprio? Come on! This guy is going to win an Oscar...but Leo still needs his first. ;-)
THIS is the best stuff to learn about. God I love hearing about behind the scenes stuff and the passion these actors have for the roles they are in. Jonah Hill took a big pay cut to be in this movie, and if I were ever offered this i'd do it for free haha.
That's so funny that he said that was his favourite scene (when Leo passes him the yellow note). When I watched it, I thought it was such a good scene, especially from Jonah!
I so badly want him and Leo to make another movie together. Some time ago I read that they actually have something in the pipeline, but I've never heard about it since. I'm afraid it got cancelled. C'mon guys, please make it happen, I'm so in love with your chemistry!
I didn't have any idea how talented this man was until i seen the wolf of wall street...seems like a rad dude and i've got so much more respect for him as an actor due to his acting in this film.
Weird how this world famous actor goes through what many of us go through in any ordinary job interview. Goes in, does the interview, leaves, sweats for what seems like an eternity, and then finally get the much awaited phone call during which you hold your breath and hope against hope that it's an offer and not a rejection...
Wow, that was a real conversation lasting for six highly interesting minutes! No annoying clapping, yelling interrupting... Everybody really listened to that guy. He is a real prolific artist and I loved him in so many different movies, of course The Wolf and Moneyball. He makes them looking so easy and natural and it is NOT!! Martin Scorsese doesn't hire everybody! My greatest respect, go for it Jonah Hill! ^^
Great thing about Jonah Hill is his passion about movies. You can hear it in his voice.
You really can. Especially when he was talking about auditioning for the role, about the movie and working with Martin Scorsese.
Leo would never do a franchise
You realise he's an actor?
Doesn't matter, some people are more passionate about it than others. Hugh Grant has been acting for decades and he has said that it's just a job to him, not a passion. It's refreshing to see that Jonah does this because he truly loves it, not just for a big paycheck.

I think Jonah was perfect for the part, if it were anyone else, I have no idea how it'd turn out...
Mark Wahlberg actually
@@jacksoncooper9131 ewww no
Jackson Cooper can’t imagine mark wahlberg eating a goldfish
Other ppl probably would have tried to upstage Leo or be to PG about the scenes
Sam Rockwell 👌
It's nice to see an actor be so humble and not just have something handed to him!
If you guys want to check out my new video that be awesome :P or not aha
@@rebeccamcneil1 you need mental help IMMEDIATELY if you actually think he hasnt had anything handed to him....

Nah you’d wake up. 😴

It was actually $60,000
he is totally insane!!!
i didnt know that!! hes really a good guy. haha everyone agrees ;)
LittlemissAnnemarie WOOOOOW! No shit?! That's incredibly less considering his performance and the overall part he played in the movie.
Jonah said I would do it for free or even pay Scorsese to be in the film. I mean who wouldnt? A Scorsese movie is dream to any young actor.
The movie was 3hrs long and it took 80 takes for that 1 scene?! I can only imagine how long it took to make this entire movie.. holy shit.
it was 10 months of filming
A few years late here, but generally, films usually take 45-90 days to shoot but The Wolf of Wall Street is an exception. I guess they really wanted to reach their expectation for the movie and that's why it took 10 months of shooting which is also why they shot so many takes.
High cost production films take 6+ months to film generally
Almost a year 😳😮
It was a grand epic of a film.
He's like a kid in the candy store. His enthusiasm and passion for the role is great to see.
It's so nice to see an actor so passionate about his job! Keep it up Jonah, You're the bomb :)
That's one thing all these great actors seem to have in common is their Love and Obsession for their craft.
Hi.
This guy already passed all of his friends in acting
he has.. good to see that Jonah has come so far since superbad n minor small roles like in "forgettin sarah marshall" in which he was hilarious... happy that he's not stuck in just comedy
Ofc

His voice is like jimmy in gta 5 LOL
Right? I thought he played Jimmy till I looked it up.
I thought he played Jimmy until you just said that he didn't.
It does. But Danny Tamberelli played Jimmy.
I think They did base Him off Jonah
GameLinGreen holly shit you just blew my mind with that Danny tambereli thing I loved Pete and Pete I knew I recognized that voice

I don't understand why he sounds like that's a huge amount of money? Was he just being humble?

Plus, if the role is actually really good it can get you more roles so it can still make you money.
Wow, and to think that Robert Downey jr gets paid 50million to play iron man.
I think not sure but he was rewarded and was paid more after the movie came out and it was successful and he had a good performance.
For the first one I'm not sure...but I know he made 70mil plus backend for Avengers
Wolf of Wall Street was AMAZING! The story and the acting was top class. Leo + Jonah + movie = perfection =D

He seems so humble and down to earth..so glad he’s finally being recognized as such
