A Scottish person doesn’t call themselves scotch, but Ulster Scots from Ireland that migrated to the US in the late 18th early 19th century coined the term scotch-Irish for themselves and descendants still use it. They aren’t claiming to be authentic Scotsmen, they are a culture of their own. That’s why they can call themselves that.

Americans put a lot of importance on race when it comes to relations with people. In the UK they could care less. My experience.
I still think the media is to blame for a lot of racial tension in the US. And I don’t think the US is as racist as they make it out to be. But, there is a barrier between whites, browns, and blacks that you can feel, like an imaginary line. In the UK everyone seemed to be more in sync with each other. It also doesn’t help that Americans are very passive. People are in the UK are way more upfront.

They should have done a bit of research instead of taking what the BBC told them. In actuality USA men are taller than British. The Average British male is not 5'10. the ave female is not 5'5. Some simple research could have saved them from this.
Americans might think they're taller because they watch basketball. I am a Brit who spent most of his younger life in the USA, and at 5'11" I was taller than most American men.
dfirthc An actual 5"11 is on the tall side for all countries. Average American male is roughly 5'9, average British male slightly less. Those numbers are from studies where heights were measured, not self reported. On that note, however, there are several "studies" giving different numbers which calls into question how accurate any of them are and how representative the samples are. Why use measured over self-reported? Because just like women lie about their weight, rounding down, males tend to up their height more than what they actually are.

I beg to differ, we pay extortionate property tax, while a house on the price tag seems cheap, we can pay $10,000, $8,000 even upwards of $15,000 property tax for a modest house in New Jersey, or Maryland a year. My mom pays $6,000 a year on a 3 bedroom house in a OK area. That tax is for life, and if you don't pay your house is auctioned you are homeless. There is no benefit system to pick you up. Even in some cities not paying a water bill can cause you to get your home auctioned. My council tax (it's UK equivalent) is no more that £1,100 a year.

I visited and stayed in the UK for a month and a half and one thing that really stood out to me was the people there really don’t care about your racial or ethnic background like a lot do in the USA. Americans put a lot of importance on race when it comes to relations with people. In the UK they could care less. My experience.
Fax. Americans so surprised to see no “ghettos”. My schools r all mixed, african, asian, etc
Most people get along well here unlike the states where there’s news on racial tensions every other month
That’s why it’s so relaxed out there when you see stuff that would actually offend an American. They don’t look at it as racist just art and products. God forbid your clothes has a monkey on it and a BLK kid is modeling it. Lol that it the end of your corporation lol

How does that change anything to do with average height?
They should have done a bit of research instead of taking what the BBC told them. In actuality USA men are taller than British. The Average British male is not 5'10. the ave female is not 5'5. Some simple research could have saved them from this.
Americans might think they're taller because they watch basketball. I am a Brit who spent most of his younger life in the USA, and at 5'11" I was taller than most American men.
MMRG carnival ouw naked girls here. B_razil
dfirthc An actual 5"11 is on the tall side for all countries.

My mom pays $6,000 a year on a 3 bedroom house in a OK area. That tax is for life, and if you don't pay your house is auctioned you are homeless. There is no benefit system to pick you up. Even in some cities not paying a water bill can cause you to get your home auctioned.

The word college in the US is the same as the word University in the UK. We call University "college".
I’m British and I love small houses it fells more comfortable than big houses!
Baibhav2006 PS4 do you live in America or England, I’m confused😂
Totally Unfocused I live in a small house ( I’m from America) and it takes a long time to clean. The floors get REAAAALLLLYYYY dirty.
Totally Unfocused not if you keep it clean
SUSSEX _MOUNTAINBIKER! Im an American and we have never had a big house and we are a family of 6

*move along now*
I chose to live in England as there are so many costs and taxes in the States it eats your wage. Couldn’t believe the cost of everyday groceries in Walmart compared to Tesco, it was like double! Running a car can be cheaper in the States but the cars in England are usually more efficient. The biggest thing for me however was convenience. In the States I had to drive miles just do do a basic shop. Here in England even small towns have everything I need within a small walk. Both countries are great in their own way, I guess it just depends on how you live your life.
You do know we have other stores other than Walmart, right? lol.
Well, the cost of living in both countries is almost the same. It’s more expensive in the U.S, but you also make more money in the U.S.

Following some Californian influencer on instagram who sometimes does food hauls. Minced beef is like $11.99 for 1lb. It's £2.50 in Aldi, and grass fed too as all of our cows are grass fed.
Um "The United Kingdom of Great Britain" are 2 seperate things
The United Kingdom is one thing and Great Britain is another
Sugarcane Bennett the UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland though lol
Sugarcane Bennett it's called the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland
On the passport it clearly states "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"
Not on mine it doesn't. It just says United Kingdom. But the nationality inside says British.
Do you literally want me to send you a photo of my passport? 😂 it clearly says United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland....
I am from the uk and I have a few family members who live in America and my house is bigger than all of there's and it's not made out of wood, I have not seen a single house in the U.K. Made out of wood
Toby F they meant American houses were made out of wood not British
Toby F Where do they live? Because that has a lot to do with property sizes. It's easy to buy a huge property in Texas because they're cheap, but you'd have to be very rich to get a lot of land in California.
Toby F weather isn't as bad in the US so there's no need to build houses that will last for god knows how long
My house is made out of mud (cob)
You have hurricanes! All we have in the UK are overcast afternoons and light drizzle!
Can I just say America is way way way wayyyyy bigger so of course they are going to have more room for bigger house plots and are going to have a bigger population for billionaires and other things as well!
It doesn't necessarliy mean they have more land for bigger houses, the populations of the UK and America are also different which means that with a population of 65 million for britain, we have 'x' amount of room for houses but America has a population of 330 million. Do you see what I mean?
Millicent Bowers Have you been to America? They definitely have more room for houses lol
I'm talking about how much room comparatively between both countries.
Millicent Bowers And so am I. In the UK, we have 660 people per square mile. The US only have 85!
Believe me, I am well aware of the housing shortage in Britain! I don't know why you're arguing the same point as me.
"The United kingdom of great Britain "
Me as a brit: I have never been there before.
I love UK vs US comparisons, I find them really interesting. Though as a Brit the snide comments left by other Brits annoy me, stop it, you're making us look bad. Only insecure people need to tear other people down for petty differences to make themselves look better. Can't we be friends? Americans have flaws but all you have to do is watch Jeremy Kyle and anything with Piers Morgan in it and you can clearly see that Britain has a few skid marks in it's pants too. We're not superior, stop talking shite.

Basically college in the UK is free, 100% it's called sixth form or it's called college, sixth forms are usually joined on to secondary schools and colleges are usually singular. University is optional and happens after sixth form.
Taylor Billie in Scotland we don't do sixth form it's just 6th year and so college is nothing to do with secondary, you leave school to go to college
Angry Commenter what?
Retro1029 but the majority of college students don't pay tax....
Retro1029 but they have to pay taxes everywhere so what
Right but in the US, people generally use the word College for University. This video is speaking on University debt.
