    Thanks so much for this! It's been tight lately and hated to spend the money but this was so annoying. I did a search to get an idea how much it might cost but you gave such clear instructions even down to what size socket I felt brave enough to do it myself! I am so happy to have my blower working properly and for under $20! You Rock! 😀😊

      Glad to help out! One side note, if the resistor keeps repeatedly going out, your blower motor itself is also likely bad. Typically if the blower goes bad and is drawing too many amps, it will keep drying the resistors.

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy thanks. I saw that on an earlier reply. I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is the first time it's happened but mentioned that potential to hubby, just in case. ♥

    I have front/rear blowers but the blower motor resistor I took out looks exactly the same as yours. Apparently the more expensive replacement part is for automatic climate control. Thanks for the quick fix, I wish all repairs were that easy.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  2 года назад

      Ah, that makes sense! And I definitely wish all repairs were that easy haha. One quick tip, if you keep burning through these resistors, I would replace the blower motor as well. When the blower fails, it tends to draw more amperage and cause the resistors to fail.

      Glad to help! I ended up having to replace this one like 2 or 3 times within a few year span so if you keep going through resistors, I recommend changing the blower motor itself too. Typically those cause the resistor to fail if you’re going through resistors left and right.

    My problem now is the fan sometimes works and sometimes doesn't at all. It has a mind of its own. How to fix that?

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  9 месяцев назад +1

      An intermittent issue would have to be some sort of loose or bad connection. You'd have to inspect the blower motor and resistor connectors. I wouldn't be surprised if your resistor connector was half melted.

  • @bryannoah7522
    @bryannoah7522 3 года назад

    If the resistor has gone bad it also needs the blower motor replaced as well, the purpose of the resistor is to protect the blower motor circuit, when the resistor has gone bad this means the blower motor has a problem and has been drawing to much amperage though the resistor causing the resistor to go bad speed by speed will be lost until it quits completely, yes replacing the resistor could bring it back to live , but it is just a band aid on the proplem.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  3 года назад

      You’re right in most cases. It seems to be a big issue with the caravans. I think this one has gone through like 2 or 3 blower motors and 4 resistors.

    My ac for the front vents would only work on the 3rd and 4th setting. Now my air won’t blow at all in the front. And the rear back vent blows where the trunk is. But that’s literally the only one. Still gets cold just won’t blow

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  5 месяцев назад

      Most likely the resistor or the switch itself for the front blower but hard to say without physically testing. Could be the blower itself also but if the front and rear A/C share the same blower then it’s likely not the blower.

    • @MzLullaby7
      @MzLullaby7 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy ok cool so it may be the resistor then. I don’t think the back seat on the second row blows out air on either side but I was ok because at least the car would get cold on the inside because of the front vents… I have to get that fixed along with this gas smell that I can’t seem to get rid of. We got the part fixed on the car that said was causing the issue with the check engine light (the purge valve flow) but even after it was fixed the check engine stays on and I smell gas strongly off and on.. it’s so weird but definitely needs to be fixed

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@MzLullaby7 There is a crankcase breather hose that connected to the valve cover closest to the firewall. Might be worth checking that to see if it came unhooked. It is a somewhat common issue and people complain of exhaust or gas smell when it comes off.

    Thanks for the resister quick fix. But add the cabin filter to this vidio. I'm a carpenter and my caravan has 187000 ml on it and I never heard of a cabin filter, talk about dirt. And the damage this could cause. So while we're working down there I hear this filter should be changed every 16000 ml. Thanks again
