I was thinking of adapting a 53-foot trailer to haul cattle, between use hauling pellets. How effective would it be for cleaning fresh manure?

Hi Brett,
The KEITH WALKING FLOOR system will work well for hauling most wood or feed pellets. However, to be successful in moving any product with a WALKING FLOOR® system, there needs to be good depth of material. Generally, a minimum of 3’ to 4’ deep.
In this case even with the 3’ to 4’ depth of material, we can see that “fresh manure” could be difficult.
We do have WALKING FLOOR trailers hauling “Manure” but it is generally drier, not fresh.

Too many moving parts. Truck drivers tend not to be the most fastidious when it comes to cleaning down after a tip. In no time at all, the mechanism which holds and operates the sweeper mat will be funked up to the point of seizure.
The old system of mounting a moving board on runners works well. But again it's down to the driver to keep it clean and functional.

Thanks for the comments. Like all equipment, the KEITH CleenSweep® system does require some basic maintenance to keep it in good working order. However in most cases it is not a daily maintenance issue. KEITH Manufacturing Co. does produce both an Electric CleenSweep unit and a Hydraulic CleenSweep system. Both styles have proven to be very reliable and low maintenance.
While the moving headboard style may work in most cases, there are trailer modifications necessary and the driver is generally required to enter trailer. This increases the risk of injury to back, knees or worse. The goal of KEITH Manufacturing Co. is to have a reliable system that will assist in cleaning out a WALKING FLOOR® trailer, while incorporating the highest standard of driver safety.
