      i feel like the little tangents you go on are like the fleeting moments you’re spending with someone you know you might not see again for a long time and they have to leave soon so everything that happens that isn’t involved with the main point is like a procrastination of the inevitable end of the video or the leaving of the metaphorical person

    when i was anorexic and i lost over 50lbs, people would tell me i looked so much better, healthier, and prettier. i was, in fact, not healthy whatsoever and those compliments actually made my disease so much worse. society tells us that being skinny is healthy no matter what is actually going on inside the body. so yes Drew i understand you.

And in the end they would stop watching anything on your channel because they'd never know what to expect. Keep the "just talking" video to us who are just interested in whatever you put out, and the more formated videos for a channel that you want to grow. I hope this make sense English is my second language and I feel like I definitely didn't use the most adequate words there. I'm also H.I.G.H so yeah.

    Some people lack self awareness and think it’s a compliment however it does sting when we hear stuff like that. I had a new boyfriend and we were on our second date and the waitress came up and remembered me from high school and she said, “wow! You’ve lost soooo much weight!” I was so humiliated.
    Drew, I can’t speak for everyone but it could be possible that the “glow up” people are speaking of doesn’t revolve around your weight at all and just that you have grown into yourself. I think you have always been handsome and I wish that you find it within yourself to discard comments that don’t feed your soul. I wish you comfort and security knowing that your body is your own and has brought you safely thus far on your journey through life. You are loved, valued, and are so much more than a physical appearance or persona on RUclips. You bring joy to people. What a true gift you have.

    Also, I totally get the comments about weight. I grew up with gastrointestinal problems that made it damned near impossible to get hungry, and people/friends/family would tell me I looked amazing all the time. Really fucked when people are telling you that your health problems make you more attractive. Also, i'm a high-functioning aspie, so reading/hearing those things socially was always really hard, because I would strip every meaning of one sentence apart. I learned how to be attractive by learning the science/psychology behind attraction around 14, because that's how I understood it. I feel you in this video. Peace and love, Drew!

    Drew I get kinda anxious leaving you comments because I really don’t want my message to be misunderstood and I don’t want it to be worded in a way that sends you down a negative thought loop (because the same thing happens to me whenever anyone says anything about me, even when they’re trying to be nice!) and so I hope that doesn’t happen with this comment but I just want to say that you make me feel so understood and I am so thankful for your authenticity and honesty and this new style of “stream of consciousness”-type videos and I just hope that you have a great day and that you know that there are people out here that thoroughly enjoy your art! ❤️ you are such a beautiful person.

    Also if someone thinks any content draining its their responsibility to care for themselves and find something else that benefits them. If Its healthy for you to talk about whatever you need for yourself, then that is all you’re responsible for. Unless you’re actively harming people someone disliking your content or feeling drained is a personal issue for them to deal with and I dont think its fair for you to try and carry the weight of each individual’s preferences.

    i love what you said about catching yourself saying negative things and putting a stop to it. i’ve been focusing on that a lot lately, especially in front of my son. the other day in the car i saw my hair was frizzy and i “jokingly” was about to say, “mommy’s hair is such a mess” but i caught myself and instead said, “mommy’s hair is so beautiful!” the crazy thing is it feels weird for us to say nice things to ourselves but that should be the standard. growing up, all i ever heard was my mom criticizing herself as well as me and others. that critical voice has always been my go to mode of thinking. i’ve always been so painfully hard on myself and after all these years it’s ravaged my body and soul. i don’t want that for my son. and i don’t want that for myself anymore, either

    i do the exact same thing when it comes to hanging up the phone. it also takes me a really long time to leave a social scenario (more for like a 2-3 person hang than like a party). i noticed you doing it in other videos and i was like why does he keep saying he's about to leave when.... oh i do that. idk what it is / why i do it, my only theory so far is that when i realize that the conversation is ending it unlocks all these things that i didn't realize i wanted to say before it was over.

    The last time I saw my grandma she said “did you lose weight?” And I was like “no” and she was like “oh you look like you did”. And it felt like an insult even though it probably was supposed to be compliment. Even though I’ve been feeling better about my body image, it made me spiral a bit. I guess it’s just weird when someone randomly talks about your body. I also kind of forget I have a body beyond my eye balls too.

    • @imzabatch
      @imzabatch 2 года назад +2

      I feel you, I hardly think about my body either. I think it feels bad because I feel like it's an indication that people care what you look like much more than you do and to a much higher extent than anyone should and that doesn't feel good. I don't like to think the way I look is something people care about enough to comment on, and if it's to my face, there's the assumption that it's something I should care about as well.
