Whitby Gothic Weekend - April 2009

- A film collaboration between Whitby Gothic Photos and Vizvox Productions covering the Whitby Gothic Weekend (Saturday 25th April 2009). The photographers were Kerry Lunt, Charlie Lynn, and Anthony Wake. The sound track is 'The Wedding' by Diary of Dreams who played Saturday night during the WGW April 2009.
The still images taken by the photography team can be viewed on the www.whitbygothicphotos.co.uk web site. Contact the team through the web site if you see any images you'd particularly like for yourself.
Video was shot and edited by Vizvox Productions and will also be able to be viewed on the web site link above. Please feel free to embedd the video from this site or leave comments and feedback.
Thanks to all the great people that we met on the day, you were all fantastic, especially with all those demanding photographers and videographers around! We amy be down for the October 2009 weekend too. Thanks again to all.
Beautifully done! The flash sequence in time with the music and interspersed with video brought it all to life.
Please continue to record our culture so well! It is the best one I have seen on here.

A lot of Goths take inspiration from the Victorian era. I should know this, I used to follow this trend a few years ago and I've been to a Whitby Gothic Weekend. There are many branches of Goth like I said in my previous post, and this IS one. I'm sure many people will agree with me.

There's many different styles and branches withing Goth. They don't all dress the same.
I'm going to be more kind than the other one and explain from my POV (even if you wrote this 6 months ago): it's a lifestyle you feel comfortable in. like some whom likes to dress in simple tshirts and listen to contemporary music there are some who loves to listen to Bauhaus and dress in velvet, black, laces, hats and so on (and mabey read some Edgar Allan Poe or Dracula). we find it normal to us :) that's what I get out of it.

It shows they have respect for the people who do dress like this and it's all good friendly fun and there's never any trouble. Stop acting all elite towards them and enjoy the fact that people are embracing this culture instead of being narrow minded.
who knew we goths can acutually smile *sarcasm for all those people who thought taht it was against THE GOTH CODE to smile* lol

Also, who cares if some of the people that attend the Whitby weekends don't always dress as Goths? It's all for fun, and it's a weekend dedicated and showing appreciation to the Gothic subculture. You don't need to be a Goth to be able to join in and appreciate this style now, do you?

I think someone labelling themselves Goth then bashing other people for appreciating the culture is a lot more 'poser' if you ask me. But that's just my opinion. Would you rather this weekend didn't exist and Goth will stay unrecognised and people will stay ignorant towards it? I think people joining in is a good thing, even if they aren't 'Goth' in their every day lives.
