- For the first time in Dead By Daylight history, a new game mode is being tested called "Lights Out" where survivors and killers are cast in total darkness with no scratch marks or terror radius adding a small dose of scary!

I can't imagine how spooked you'd be going against any of the teleporting killers like this; Dredge, Sadako, Freddie...total chaos

Because being asleep against freddy makes the world really gray and bright, so it more then likely was removed to keep the immersion

I feel like Ghostface should be one of the best killers for this Mode. But also had some scary games against Bubbas, Trappers.

I was thinking bubba too but if he can’t have his add ons it might be a little harder. His sweep/speed add ons are the difference between easy 4ks and limping around the map lmao

My first few matches I tried who I thought be most fun Myers nemesis knight pig & got a 4K & head pop with pig 🐷…gotta be terrifying if you can’t see your progress on jigsaw box & it’s active while watching surroundings her n Myers we’re most fun my zombies with nemmy didn’t do a lot they found one survivor on ormond 😂

@@adamt8009 That's like saying there's no point in playing comp because everyone will just cheat. There's no need to be that pessimistic - believe it or not, far from all players are tragic enough to actually use filters.
I agree. Imagine being able to modify core game mechanics, like running speed, hook time till death, etc.
Something I thought about that would be interesting, is what if there was a mode where survivors were faster than killers, but 1 hit from a killer=death?
@@adamt8009 LMAO wdym, even filters don't help, filters are used when you got aight problems like me, they don't help, I gotta use some extra gamma because my vision sucks, but even with those filters, I still see less than the average person
I did some chucky in this mode. Needless to say, the scamper will help you close the distance, and disorient survivors if they cant see or hear you

I think chucky is probably the best for this game mode cause your supposed to be undetectable but your really oblivious so chucky when ever he has the undetectable status effect his foot falls will show but in this game mode they wont so its better to play normal m1 chucky with no TR and no footfalls hes just super stealthy
The Lights Out mode really makes DBD feel like a horror game.
You don't know what horror means my guy. Dbd lost it's horror long time ago, the only scary killers in this gamemode are either Bubba or Hillbilly because they can instadown ya.

I have played 4 survivor games and every killer so far is hard tunneling, slugging and camping, this is why we can't have nice things.
Same - I don't understand why they would deactivate the anti-camp feature...

All they did in my matches was hide by the hook waiting for someone to get the save

I got so worried it was terrible to play as Killer because that’s also all I saw - no one wanted to chase survivors! Until I played Huntress and it’s actually super fun??

I thought I was the only one! The lighting and visuals are definitely much better in this mode. I play DBD on PS5 and I was impressed by how awesome the game looks. The graphics have really come a long way since 2016
Imagine how scary would it be as a survivor for everything to be pitch black, no terror radius, and just listen to Billy's loud chainsaw taking down your friends one by one, as it gets louder and louder

@@empdisaster10 I actually stopped playing because killers kept camping and tunnelling off hook. I don't wanna debate on whether its good/bad strategy cause I know for some it's valid but I was expecting killers to be a bit more chill in new mode
The feature is still on its just you cant see the bar so you don’t know when to unhook yourself

Right killers never get their way right? Behavior tries to maintain around a 60% kill rate for the killer in spite of how you might feel survivors aren't exactly having their hands held by the game

Something i’ve discovered that just blows survivors away is to get early gen kicks to get rid of the audio cue.
I straight up was called a hacker because of this from a salty P100 Feng Stack LOL
I noticed that in a match against a trapper I was impressed and had to really pay attention to a lot more than where he was coming from

This mode makes me want to play killer. No bs perks, add-ons or items, just bare bones fun.
My first six games I just saw hard camping at hooks, like Killers didn’t want any chases or something. I got worried it was terrible as Killer, but actually your intuition is right - this is super fun as Killer!

I only camp at hooks when it's someone who was like mocking me like t bagging when hitting me with a pallet so I just stand by and watch them die and hope they are frustrated

Dredge is really good in this mode. When you hold his teleport down, the darkness goes away and you can see as he would normally.
I hope this doesn't mean it'll be killswitched
Every killer is way better in this mode
If any Killer gets a pass in this mode, then it should be Dredge since his whole shtick revolves around darkness

Just jumpscares all over, can barely see the traps depending on map. So scary
Ive been messing around with a few killers and in my experience The Xenomorph has been one of the most fun for me, giving players a solid Alien experience.
I bet the Twins would be great in this mode. If I remember correctly Victor doesn’t have a red stain, can see blood pools better, and has a tiny audio radius. Can you imagine the little freak bouncing at you form out of nowhere!?

A part of me wants this to become how DBD plays from now on but with similar UI that we already have currently in the game. The game also already has ways to tell you where a survivor has gone with pools of blood, if a killer is nearby because of sounds they make, footstep sounds from both killers and survivors, progress on gens from the pistons, etc. It would be cool to see the game stay this way because its a game changer in a good way if the devs do things right
Just make it so the killers can't see the gen auras and it'd be a bit more fair
Gens are started to help survivors, can still see the auras of killer belongings.
Confirmed survivors dont have eye balls.

They said that the gens are started at the beginning to help survivors find gens at the beginning and you can still get auras on killer objects like bear traps or The Box. They then make the statement that survivors can’t use their eyes and thus must be aided, likely as a joke that survivors get benefits all the time whereas killers are typically hurting.

survivors really have no other idea where they are going, killers see gen auras so they can patrol somewhat normally, imo killers have a huge advantage cuz survs are just lost here

There is anti-camping in lights out there’s just no HUD for it for survivors, but there is a sound cue for it when they can successfully pull themselves off.

We used to stack fog and use a dark moon offering, great fun when its so dark, pleanty of jump scares, I would like to see the dark moon offering make a come back.
Ig but i like the competive nature of the reqular mode i hope they touch this up a bit more and release it as a perma mode
Jump scares are boring and they require zero effort. If dbd were to just become jump scares it would also be uninteresting at some point. Real horror isn’t just jump scares.

Go to that time of the video and put the playback speed. For 0.5x I did so I could see slower and actually see the survivor but this guy, when the voice has that slow. Sounds like he's slurring his words. And on drugs.😂
depending on how audio ques are, spirit will be terrifying, but also like an oni or speed killers gonna have a hard time

Spooky the anti face camp works in that mode, you just cant see the bar until its full. Ive seen people get off the hook from the killer camping.
Apparently the darkness does not block line of sight when exposing survivors as ghostface and vice versa. So you can still expose each other even if you can't see each other so long as there's no obstructions in the direction you're looking
Seems like survivors can discover ghost face through the darkness.
But ghostface can stalk them through the darkness!

First match I played against a dredge. Had to use flashlights for its conventional use.. nightfall was terrifying.

I think the reveals on ghost face make sense since, as ghost face, you're able to mark them outside of your FOV. So they were probably not intentionally revealing, just looking in that direction. I could be wrong though.
There is anticamp mechanic in lights out. I was facecamped by a Legion in the basement of Lary's and I was able to unhook myself. The only thing is you don't see the progress bar you just get the unhook prompt at some point.
That one Freddy main is going to be really upset

Anti-camping is active, it just doesnt show the progress. My buddy was camped in basement and was able to selfunhook during 2nd phase

Dude I got dbd recently and I played family residence for the first time in this mode. when you don't know where you are but know there is a Michael around because of the breathing it's terrifying
Dude I always wanted something like this in the game. I was trying to thicken the mist but it was not even close even in early stages of a game.

The anti camp feature is still on you just cant see it cause its a progressive bar same as gens and healing it counts as hud basically

Someone 4% on 2nd hook in a match i was in, so i think the anti-camp feature still applies in this game mode. I think there is just no visual way to know where the bar is.
Legion is really good here. You are used to hunting without scratch marks, killer instincts still work, but they can't even tell you can see them.

This game is again scary like when we started to play it.
I got once a bug in bdb where it was x10 more darker then this and I was vs Myers I’m still traumatized
As killer first thing I tried was seeing if gens could be kicked at the starting progress. It worked so I'd go to every Gen and kick them. Really helped slow down Gen progression. Had a 3 Gen at one point and they couldn't find the other two
this bro made myers true demon form in the darkness lol
Something I've noticed as survivor is that the killer's first hit is essentially for free bc of the built-in stealth factor. Been getting obliterated in all my games ☹️

Played 3 matches this morning before classes and i knew this was great.
Tip for surviving. Wear p3 bloody cosmetics or dark clothes. No charms or dark charms. It actually matters more now.
As a Ghostface main, this is an absolute win

I play legion in this mode. Just like how if you find one person, you can use your power, and see heartbeats. Onryo is scary af. I feel like killers like trapper, hag etc. are good since it’s just dark

I played this mode as Wesker and mostly got lerys. I wasn't complaining tho, had a lot of fun. I must've at least jumpscared 2 survs when I came charging out of nowhere from a hallway and somehow got a grab from that. Really had to use my knowledge of the maps and listen closely and keep eyes open but did lose survs at times. Still a fun mode, hope they return it at some point ^^

I played with ghost face on this mode and it was insane. Even tho you can’t see the survivors. You can still stalk them normally. The jump scares is insane. 😂

Usually Limited time mode means "let test that mode first and see their reactions". This is basically what happen to TFT and now Arena mode for League of Legends.

My first game playing lights out I was playing against the pig. It took me 3 tries to find the right box.. 😅
