@@ego-lay_atman-bay: Quite possibly. Although Make Your Mark ending seems to have been mostly a Netflix decision, as Tell Your Tail seems to still be going strong. It's not really about either show, however. Hasbro is first and foremost a toy company and will make decisions on when to launch a new generation based mostly on toy sales.

I don't Hate G5, But I know some people didn't like either Tell Your Tale or Make Your Mark. People thought Make Your Mark Improved when Chapter 2 came out, But they thought it got worse.
Also, there is the case of Gen 5, which was supposed to have Gen 4 elements, but since Hasbro had to pay Discovery to use Gen 4 characters, they had to scrap a lot of those elements. Hence why g4 characters were rarely used. The reason why they had to pay Discovery was because they have a share agreement since Hasbro used their platform to air the show on Discovery Family when it switched out of the hub.
He has already covered that in a previous video. But yes, if that is the case, G5 definitely should have been its own thing. Because the writing suffered greatly from trying to connect to G4. If your sequel can't make any reference to the previous story, then that just defeats the purpose of a sequel.

Atomic cartoons, is an amazing studio. They helped make 101 Dalmatian Street. A reboot of the series. Only continuing off from the movie to a new generation 101 family. They did a lot of amazing animation for that. In 2D I might say.
I think Make Your Mark was canceled simply because of Netflix. This isn't a bash on Netflix. But not everyone has Netflix. If it was actually televised, I think MYM would've done better. The Post-Covid Burnout was probably a good explanation for it's fall too. MYM should've been 2D from the start, but have movies and specials in the 3D style.
I'm a bit disappointed that there hasn't been any news or a trailer for the next MLP: Make Your Mark chapter this year since Allura is going to replace Opaline as the next villian along with Twitch for both MLP: Make Your Mark and MLP: Tell Your Tale Series because I'm interesting of how Allara will play it out with a different goal.
Whatever happened to the toys? MLP is a "toy first, show second" brand. It's merely that G4 was high-quality enough to divert that, and advertise itself organically, and even it had blatantly obvious toy sellers, such as Cadance and Flurry (and PRINCIPALLY Flurry) but my point is visible. G5 heavily advertises its merchandise, yet there is barely any. Whether exists are frequently and shockingly low in quality.
@@CozyGlow625 I saw some G5 pez dispensers at my local grocery store last night. I also checked five retail stores near me, here in NJ. Only two of them were selling g5 toys and even then, it only filled part of a shelf. A depressing far cry from FIM's time when it filled the whole aisle.

Hasbro paid $3.8billion for eOne, and sold it for $500million (including $375million cash) just 4 years later! Hasbro reported sold it to pay down their $3.7billion debt. Today, Hasbro still has a $2.9billion debt (the majority of which is from buying eOne years ago). In other words, Hasbro bought a shiny red sports car but couldn't afford the monthly payments. Remember when Toys R Us went bankrupt? Their retail business was modestly profitable, they just couldn't service their debt. I think that's the situation Hasbro put themselves into, and had to shed debt at any cost. And it's a shame they had to sell Boulder Media, because Boulder Media was modestly profitable.
Soo what I got from this vid is that corporate shenanigans screwed over G5 production. Kinda sad cuz I like this gen, not my fave but it's very comforting in a way, and I would wanna see what could've been of it. Speaking of MYM/TLT improving, tbh I'd like if they had kept the reboot as actual reboot (new world etc.) and not a continuation. It's kinda the reason why I like the gen in later episodes especially TLT cuz it felt like it can finally be its own thing.
I really believe that “certain” bronies from the old days doomed MLP. Or at least, they doomed G5. Hasbro probably wanted to avoid any controversy from being associated with the less savory parts of that brony community. And bring back the focus to little girls. Which probably wasn’t the right choice, considering I’m willing to bet a lot of their income came from bronies buying official merch. And it’s also kind of insulting to the little girls. Because I WAS a little girl at some point and I craved stories with substance that weren’t just flashing colors to entertain me for half an hour.
Quantum Hippologist kind of said this in his review, and I agree. It seems like G5 got the same treatment as Legend of Korra did. That show also had a lot of potential that just got wasted thanks in large part to corporate idiocy.
It’s so sad because mlp g5 could’ve been so amazing if not for hasbro and company issues, a new generation movie is genuinely phenomenal I love rewatching it, there are some good make your mark and tell your tale episodes but what now make your mark has ended and we only have tell your tale, the fate of mlp is up in the air I don’t know how long tell your tale will last but hopefully something else will come out along the way! thanks for doing the research!

I can see all this being true. It's all so sad though because as it goes on (im only on chapter 5 lol), it gets a lot better! It's just eh beginning felt like I was watching something on the verge of becoming cocomelon 2.
I'm still dissapointed they didn't make G5 to paramount animation to release in theatres. I hope they will try again with G6. And i also hope they will get kimiko glenn as a main cast member again
I also loved A New Generation and still do now, the characters, the voice acting, the abimation and the songs. I’ve seen bits of all Make Your Mark shows, and aside from Portrait Of A Princess and other parts where Misty is involved (because she’s best G5 pony), the rest of MYM was very hit and miss for me. Tell Your Tale was announced and I immediately thought it was going to be another Pony Life, and at first I liked it, but I personally just couldn't keep up with its pacing. One of the biggest mistakes the show staff made was changing the original voice actors between A New Generation and Make Your Mark. Izzy was by far my favourite character in ANG, but after the VAs changed, Pipp was my favourite until Misty came along. Cartoon characters are their voices - I understand the new VAs were probably cheaper than Vanessa Hudgens, Kimiko Glenn and the others, but you just can’t change a cartoon character’s boice.
I kinda wish something would happen that could make them reboot g5 not really everything but just after the movie like don’t reboot the movie the reboot the series after it but I don’t want it to be by hasbro maybe the studio that made the movie could make the series or discovery or maybe writers or producers from mlp g4 could come in or maybe Loran Faust could come back but I doubt it since she literally did a whole decade of ponies stuff but I really hope this happens it would be magical

I really hope that Hasbro comes to their senses and makes a G6 that has writing on par with the best episodes of MLP FIM combined with the world-building of G1. I had my own ideas for a G6, including using the ORIGINAL six ponies [Blue Belle, Minty, Snuzzle, Butterscotch, Blossom, Cotton Candy] albeit now with each being a different pony type [Blue Belle as a pegacorn/alicorn, Minty and Snuzzle remain earth ponies, Butterscotch as a flutter pony, Blossom as a unicorn, and Cotton Candy as a Pegasus]. We would get returns of villians from G1 [The Smooze returns to it's origins, but can now zombify ponies, Catrina would get better character development, Grogar would actually be a menacing threat like in G1], and we'd also get new villians and new pony species. We would also get new allies, like the pony friends from G1 [Kingsley The Lion would be epic], the Fairy Tail birds [originally a failed Hasbro toy, but they deserve a second chance], the non-Spike dragons from G1 [the ones the Princess Ponies came with], and even other Hasbro characters could make occasional appearances, like the Transformers and the 1950s/1960s Hasbro mascot. Also, Majesty would be here and be just as OP as she was in G1 but she would be used sparingly, and Grogar would be boosted in power so that he'd be a HUGE threat to everyone, making him a fitting final boss.
Make Your Mark has been hit or miss, but I think Tell Your Tale has been pretty consistently good the whole way through. The shorts format limits the complexity of those stories, but I've been really impressed with just how efficiently they make use of that limited time. I think most of what dragged Tell Your Tale down was having to maintain parity with Make Your Mark.
Nah, There was no way that Boulder Media and eOne were working on the film the time they were making Make Your Mark. eOne didn’t even animated the film in the first place.
I really loved the movie, though the following series is cute at times but just okay. If DreamWorks made G5, then it would’ve been more consistent as they keep the high-quality 3D for both the movies and specials while the series would be 2D, like they did with Trolls. Also, the G5 movie to me does feel like a DreamWorks film at times in terms of tone and humor, and heck, a good chunk of the staff that worked on that film are DreamWorks veterans (Mark Fattibene, Tim Sullivan, Todd Heapy, Heitor Pereira, Igor Loderio, etc.). Heck, even Universal (the current owners of DreamWorks), have this film on their home entertainment website. So with all of that, MLP: A New Generation is probably the closest thing we’ll get to a DreamWorks MLP film. (Though in spirit only)
Yeah, I wasn't fond with the premise of basically all the hard work done in G4 to reach harmony was chucked out the window by G5. Even going back to pony type segregation, which should have summoned the wind spirits (whose name is forbidden in the culture they're from, who are uncomfortable with other people using it, despite said people not being of their culture) and decimated everything. Hearthswarming wasn't JUST a Christmas substitute!
It’s not just this, the toys became extremely trashy… specially the brushables… They pulled the same stunt with the littlest pet shop toys. Hasbro thought it was invincible as both an animation and toy company and thought they could push these badly written shows and cheap bootleg esque trash toys that are just one hair away of having lead and cadmium in them because they have a big “trustworthy” name that parents would buy anyway. But oh how wrong they were… collectors are not buying the mlp toys because of the bad quality and parents refuse to buy them for their kids because they keep confusing them for bootleg toys and the animation fans are abandoning the shows on mass because of the bad animation quality, bad story telling and the unethical treatment of everyone behind the scenes! Shame on Hasbro!

Just my thoughts on Make Your Mark. It only had three bad episodes: - Mane Smelody was passable, but pretty unfunny and rather confused in its main narrative. But it does add on some further buildup towards Chapter 6 through its B-plot. - The pilot was shittily animated, had some plotlines that I wish had gotten their own episodes or more time in the spotlight (Move the Sparky plot to its own episode, and give that time to focusing more on Posey), and was pretty disappointing in its conclusion and how said conclusion came to be. That said, it had plenty of redeeming qualities; it still sucks, but there's a lot that's good here. - The Jinxie Games is the most lacking in redeeming qualities, from both plots having good morals but pretty bad execution, and features side characters that are at their absolute most idiotic. At least we got Haven x Alphabittle and further buildup to the Together Trees twist.
One of the first things I saw when watching the start of make your mark was that there's a scene where Opalines teeth clip through her jaw. I haven't laughed that hard at any other episode ngl

As someone who watched 4 chapters out of 6, I can say that every single episode was bad for me. The only time I smiled for a moment was when Zipp threw a pillow at her sister and she fell to the ground. It's not because of bias or anything, I liked the movie, I even liked it a lot, but MYM just didn't bring any pleasure during the viewing. When I watched G4, I was constantly in such an upbeat mood, there were funny jokes, catchy songs and in contrast to this, G5 looks extremely pale and tasteless.

And it's funny, you can't call it nostalgia or duckling syndrome, because being a newbie in the fandom, I binge-watched everything related to G4 (except Pony Life), and then G5. I quit TYT on the 26th episode of the first season, and MYM on the 4th chapter. It's a shame, really, the story and characters really had good potential for development.

Allow me to rephrase my previous comment: You said that G4 MLP would not make it past season 3 without the help of the Brony community, but did Hasbro ASK for their help? Even if they did, Hasbro was rewarded for the community's help with NSFW fan content and members that pray upon the innocent. What a great way to show appreciation, am I right?
If the writing was good, the terrible animation and cheapness would eb easly forgiven. But the writing was NOT good. Like at all. Characters got flattened, some forgotten or replaced (I feel like the series writers really disliked Sprout like... entirelly. Or any male characters for that matter.) I need to make an entire videoessay with my problems with G5 (because like you, loved the movie and was dissappointed with all the wasted potential in the show) but something that not many people point out that just INFURIATED ME was this: Make your mark is not a musical. All the songs (except for ONE Opaline song) are in-universe and all sound the same - harmless popsongs that blend together into a nothing sandwitch. There are no songs about characters struggles, emotions, passions or plans. They are all BLAND and SAFE. I can't humm ever ONE of them. It only shows the absolute lack of soul in the show. Also I'm polish and in the middle of the show netflix decided that "you know what, that's not worth the money" and stopped ordering polish studios to translate the songs in the dub. So character just litterally say in Polish "okay now Im gonna sing it, everypony! In English!" like... WTF xD It's funny and sad at the same time.
Also, Hasbro tried to tie the series' lore to 3 different medias : MyM, TyT plus comics... At once. this creates a LOT of consumer fatigue REALLY quickly ! Exacerbated by just how slowly the main plot was moving along... Nowadays, Marvel has lost a fair chunk of its momentum after Endgame. And I believe it's the same issue : average consumers didn't want to track down 3 movies and 5 series just to understand references made in the one they ACTUALLY wanted to watch, or question why this dead character was on screen all of a sudden...
Despite how popular My little pony is I’m not sure who would actively go watch a my little pony movie in the theaters. The Powerpuff Girls was popular in the 2000s And that movie flattened. Barbie did well but that movie makes fun of itself. I know the Paw Patrol movie was released in theaters and I didn’t watch it in theaters. I don’t have Paramont so I paired them elsewhere. Not anything special but the two paw patrol movies are actually really good And I never seen the TV show. Other than small children and parents I’m not sure who actually watch the paw patrol movies

When G5 came out, I wasn't present in the fandom anymore. I put an end to the franchise after FIM's fifth or sixth season. Then, through specific circumstances, I have exploded back into the shows, observed everything, bawled my eyes out over Equestria Girls not receiving an ending (which I am still advocating for, with no success) and caught wind of G5. This... Loathsomeness plug which split the fandom in half. Well, since I usually adore things everyone else abominates, I decided to give this G5 a chance, even though I wasn't especially infatuated. The pilot movie was magnificent! Superior to the G4 movie, absolutely mesmerizing animation, adequate-to-good characters, and an exquisite plot. I principally loved Sprout, it's depressing that he was thrown out the window nearly wholly after the film. Then I watch the series, and... I suppose this is a poor shading technique...? Sprinkled on top are one-dimensional, mane six rip-offs, and ennuing and soulless stories. In particular, I developed an extremely deep-rooted and flaming prejudice towards Posey, even though I liked her in G1. However, it's alright. It's acceptable for a show to have lesser pre-eminent starters, then become into something expanded and enjoyable. And I was correct. Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 are a slight improvement, but are still exceedingly shallow and industrial waste-esque. Chapter 4 is when aspects begin to improve, there is conflict, the animation is better, Misty's arc is wrapping up. I don't comprehend the hype towards her, however. She's cute, but is a generic "verbal abuse victim". I forgot what Chapter 5 concerned itself around. And chapter 6, I loved. It is absolutely spectacular. Overall, Make Your Mark is bad. The occasional astonishingness won't suffice in elevating the series. I merely saw a single Tell Your Tale episode, the Opaline one, and I despised it. Opi's song was amazing, though. However, I won't explain my thoughts, for I would be punching a mummified horse, and everyone else has already conjured them. Overall, G5 is a downgrade in comparison to G4, in every aspect. There are gorgeous elements, but I wouldn't recommend it at all costs. Just go and peep at the older generations. #SAVEEQUESTRIAGIRLS.
Hasbro makes no sense. They tell dhx that season 9 will be their last. In the meantime the make pony life and then years later g5....why could we not have g4 continue to be made?! It took so long for g5 to come out anyway plus they still sell mostly g4 stuff! I never have seen g5 toys etc! In china g4 right now is such a big hit they have their own official not bootleg cards! Okay I will admit I think G5 is not perfect but I think G5 has worse writing and animation in Tell Your Tale. Make Your Mark and the movie where better in the quality the story does have continuty errors to G4 but I still think G5 is better and I agree G5 does have a darker story not only are Sunnys parents dead but most of the Mane 5's parents are dead weird that the parents are all dead in G5 it probably has something to do with the magic disappearing. I don't think Make Your Mark was a fail like these G4 purists are saying I think it was just as good as the movie these people are so spoiled about G4 that anything that isn't G4 is considered low quality and will never be as good as G4. Make Your Mark improved in Chapter 4-6 I think chapter 4-6 in 2023 was the best chapter of MYM! I hate that the show is loosing toy sales all because people are still prefering G4 over G5!

It's not really about either show, however. Hasbro is first and foremost a toy company and will make decisions on when to launch a new generation based mostly on toy sales.

I don't Hate G5, But I know some people didn't like either Tell Your Tale or Make Your Mark. People thought Make Your Mark Improved when Chapter 2 came out, But they thought it got worse.
Also, there is the case of Gen 5, which was supposed to have Gen 4 elements, but since Hasbro had to pay Discovery to use Gen 4 characters, they had to scrap a lot of those elements. Hence why g4 characters were rarely used. The reason why they had to pay Discovery was because they have a share agreement since Hasbro used their platform to air the show on Discovery Family when it switched out of the hub.

He has already covered that in a previous video. But yes, if that is the case, G5 definitely should have been its own thing. Because the writing suffered greatly from trying to connect to G4. If your sequel can't make any reference to the previous story, then that just defeats the purpose of a sequel.

Atomic cartoons, is an amazing studio. They helped make 101 Dalmatian Street. A reboot of the series. Only continuing off from the movie to a new generation 101 family. They did a lot of amazing animation for that. In 2D I might say.
I think Make Your Mark was canceled simply because of Netflix. This isn't a bash on Netflix. But not everyone has Netflix. If it was actually televised, I think MYM would've done better.
The Post-Covid Burnout was probably a good explanation for it's fall too.
MYM should've been 2D from the start, but have movies and specials in the 3D style.
I'm a bit disappointed that there hasn't been any news or a trailer for the next MLP: Make Your Mark chapter this year since Allura is going to replace Opaline as the next villian along with Twitch for both MLP: Make Your Mark and MLP: Tell Your Tale Series because I'm interesting of how Allara will play it out with a different goal.

Whatever happened to the toys? MLP is a "toy first, show second" brand. It's merely that G4 was high-quality enough to divert that, and advertise itself organically, and even it had blatantly obvious toy sellers, such as Cadance and Flurry (and PRINCIPALLY Flurry) but my point is visible. G5 heavily advertises its merchandise, yet there is barely any. Whether exists are frequently and shockingly low in quality.
Nevwr saw any merch thats g5. Even the kids magazines in my town still feature g4 on the cover. The only thong thats g5 that i knpw of are the comics.

Hasbro paid $3.8billion for eOne, and sold it for $500million (including $375million cash) just 4 years later! Hasbro reported sold it to pay down their $3.7billion debt. Today, Hasbro still has a $2.9billion debt (the majority of which is from buying eOne years ago). In other words, Hasbro bought a shiny red sports car but couldn't afford the monthly payments.
Remember when Toys R Us went bankrupt? Their retail business was modestly profitable, they just couldn't service their debt. I think that's the situation Hasbro put themselves into, and had to shed debt at any cost.
And it's a shame they had to sell Boulder Media, because Boulder Media was modestly profitable.
Soo what I got from this vid is that corporate shenanigans screwed over G5 production. Kinda sad cuz I like this gen, not my fave but it's very comforting in a way, and I would wanna see what could've been of it. Speaking of MYM/TLT improving, tbh I'd like if they had kept the reboot as actual reboot (new world etc.) and not a continuation. It's kinda the reason why I like the gen in later episodes especially TLT cuz it felt like it can finally be its own thing.

I really believe that “certain” bronies from the old days doomed MLP. Or at least, they doomed G5. Hasbro probably wanted to avoid any controversy from being associated with the less savory parts of that brony community. And bring back the focus to little girls. Which probably wasn’t the right choice, considering I’m willing to bet a lot of their income came from bronies buying official merch. And it’s also kind of insulting to the little girls. Because I WAS a little girl at some point and I craved stories with substance that weren’t just flashing colors to entertain me for half an hour.
Quantum Hippologist kind of said this in his review, and I agree. It seems like G5 got the same treatment as Legend of Korra did. That show also had a lot of potential that just got wasted thanks in large part to corporate idiocy.

It’s so sad because mlp g5 could’ve been so amazing if not for hasbro and company issues, a new generation movie is genuinely phenomenal I love rewatching it, there are some good make your mark and tell your tale episodes but what now make your mark has ended and we only have tell your tale, the fate of mlp is up in the air I don’t know how long tell your tale will last but hopefully something else will come out along the way! thanks for doing the research!
The movie is truly amazing. MYM had potential, but it was still never as good as the movie was.
I do really like newer TYT. The episodes have way better writing, lore, and there's 20 minute specials.

I also loved A New Generation and still do now, the characters, the voice acting, the abimation and the songs. I’ve seen bits of all Make Your Mark shows, and aside from Portrait Of A Princess and other parts where Misty is involved (because she’s best G5 pony), the rest of MYM was very hit and miss for me.
Tell Your Tale was announced and I immediately thought it was going to be another Pony Life, and at first I liked it, but I personally just couldn't keep up with its pacing.
One of the biggest mistakes the show staff made was changing the original voice actors between A New Generation and Make Your Mark. Izzy was by far my favourite character in ANG, but after the VAs changed, Pipp was my favourite until Misty came along. Cartoon characters are their voices - I understand the new VAs were probably cheaper than Vanessa Hudgens, Kimiko Glenn and the others, but you just can’t change a cartoon character’s boice.

I really hope that Hasbro comes to their senses and makes a G6 that has writing on par with the best episodes of MLP FIM combined with the world-building of G1. I had my own ideas for a G6, including using the ORIGINAL six ponies [Blue Belle, Minty, Snuzzle, Butterscotch, Blossom, Cotton Candy] albeit now with each being a different pony type [Blue Belle as a pegacorn/alicorn, Minty and Snuzzle remain earth ponies, Butterscotch as a flutter pony, Blossom as a unicorn, and Cotton Candy as a Pegasus]. We would get returns of villians from G1 [The Smooze returns to it's origins, but can now zombify ponies, Catrina would get better character development, Grogar would actually be a menacing threat like in G1], and we'd also get new villians and new pony species. We would also get new allies, like the pony friends from G1 [Kingsley The Lion would be epic], the Fairy Tail birds [originally a failed Hasbro toy, but they deserve a second chance], the non-Spike dragons from G1 [the ones the Princess Ponies came with], and even other Hasbro characters could make occasional appearances, like the Transformers and the 1950s/1960s Hasbro mascot. Also, Majesty would be here and be just as OP as she was in G1 but she would be used sparingly, and Grogar would be boosted in power so that he'd be a HUGE threat to everyone, making him a fitting final boss.

Make Your Mark has been hit or miss, but I think Tell Your Tale has been pretty consistently good the whole way through. The shorts format limits the complexity of those stories, but I've been really impressed with just how efficiently they make use of that limited time.
I think most of what dragged Tell Your Tale down was having to maintain parity with Make Your Mark.

I really loved the movie, though the following series is cute at times but just okay. If DreamWorks made G5, then it would’ve been more consistent as they keep the high-quality 3D for both the movies and specials while the series would be 2D, like they did with Trolls. Also, the G5 movie to me does feel like a DreamWorks film at times in terms of tone and humor, and heck, a good chunk of the staff that worked on that film are DreamWorks veterans (Mark Fattibene, Tim Sullivan, Todd Heapy, Heitor Pereira, Igor Loderio, etc.). Heck, even Universal (the current owners of DreamWorks), have this film on their home entertainment website. So with all of that, MLP: A New Generation is probably the closest thing we’ll get to a DreamWorks MLP film. (Though in spirit only)
And than I was like I’m not going to watch a series that’s only 20% of the time good

Yeah, I wasn't fond with the premise of basically all the hard work done in G4 to reach harmony was chucked out the window by G5. Even going back to pony type segregation, which should have summoned the wind spirits (whose name is forbidden in the culture they're from, who are uncomfortable with other people using it, despite said people not being of their culture) and decimated everything. Hearthswarming wasn't JUST a Christmas substitute!

It’s not just this, the toys became extremely trashy… specially the brushables…
They pulled the same stunt with the littlest pet shop toys. Hasbro thought it was invincible as both an animation and toy company and thought they could push these badly written shows and cheap bootleg esque trash toys that are just one hair away of having lead and cadmium in them because they have a big “trustworthy” name that parents would buy anyway. But oh how wrong they were… collectors are not buying the mlp toys because of the bad quality and parents refuse to buy them for their kids because they keep confusing them for bootleg toys and the animation fans are abandoning the shows on mass because of the bad animation quality, bad story telling and the unethical treatment of everyone behind the scenes! Shame on Hasbro!

Just my thoughts on Make Your Mark. It only had three bad episodes:
- Mane Smelody was passable, but pretty unfunny and rather confused in its main narrative. But it does add on some further buildup towards Chapter 6 through its B-plot.
- The pilot was shittily animated, had some plotlines that I wish had gotten their own episodes or more time in the spotlight (Move the Sparky plot to its own episode, and give that time to focusing more on Posey), and was pretty disappointing in its conclusion and how said conclusion came to be. That said, it had plenty of redeeming qualities; it still sucks, but there's a lot that's good here.
- The Jinxie Games is the most lacking in redeeming qualities, from both plots having good morals but pretty bad execution, and features side characters that are at their absolute most idiotic. At least we got Haven x Alphabittle and further buildup to the Together Trees twist.
One of the first things I saw when watching the start of make your mark was that there's a scene where Opalines teeth clip through her jaw. I haven't laughed that hard at any other episode ngl

As someone who watched 4 chapters out of 6, I can say that every single episode was bad for me. The only time I smiled for a moment was when Zipp threw a pillow at her sister and she fell to the ground. It's not because of bias or anything, I liked the movie, I even liked it a lot, but MYM just didn't bring any pleasure during the viewing. When I watched G4, I was constantly in such an upbeat mood, there were funny jokes, catchy songs and in contrast to this, G5 looks extremely pale and tasteless.

And it's funny, you can't call it nostalgia or duckling syndrome, because being a newbie in the fandom, I binge-watched everything related to G4 (except Pony Life), and then G5. I quit TYT on the 26th episode of the first season, and MYM on the 4th chapter. It's a shame, really, the story and characters really had good potential for development.

If the writing was good, the terrible animation and cheapness would eb easly forgiven. But the writing was NOT good. Like at all. Characters got flattened, some forgotten or replaced (I feel like the series writers really disliked Sprout like... entirelly. Or any male characters for that matter.)
I need to make an entire videoessay with my problems with G5 (because like you, loved the movie and was dissappointed with all the wasted potential in the show) but something that not many people point out that just INFURIATED ME was this:
Make your mark is not a musical. All the songs (except for ONE Opaline song) are in-universe and all sound the same - harmless popsongs that blend together into a nothing sandwitch. There are no songs about characters struggles, emotions, passions or plans. They are all BLAND and SAFE. I can't humm ever ONE of them. It only shows the absolute lack of soul in the show.
Also I'm polish and in the middle of the show netflix decided that "you know what, that's not worth the money" and stopped ordering polish studios to translate the songs in the dub. So character just litterally say in Polish "okay now Im gonna sing it, everypony! In English!" like... WTF xD It's funny and sad at the same time.
Also, Hasbro tried to tie the series' lore to 3 different medias : MyM, TyT plus comics... At once. this creates a LOT of consumer fatigue REALLY quickly ! Exacerbated by just how slowly the main plot was moving along...
Nowadays, Marvel has lost a fair chunk of its momentum after Endgame. And I believe it's the same issue : average consumers didn't want to track down 3 movies and 5 series just to understand references made in the one they ACTUALLY wanted to watch, or question why this dead character was on screen all of a sudden...

Despite how popular My little pony is I’m not sure who would actively go watch a my little pony movie in the theaters. The Powerpuff Girls was popular in the 2000s And that movie flattened. Barbie did well but that movie makes fun of itself. I know the Paw Patrol movie was released in theaters and I didn’t watch it in theaters. I don’t have Paramont so I paired them elsewhere. Not anything special but the two paw patrol movies are actually really good And I never seen the TV show. Other than small children and parents I’m not sure who actually watch the paw patrol movies

When G5 came out, I wasn't present in the fandom anymore. I put an end to the franchise after FIM's fifth or sixth season. Then, through specific circumstances, I have exploded back into the shows, observed everything, bawled my eyes out over Equestria Girls not receiving an ending (which I am still advocating for, with no success) and caught wind of G5. This... Loathsomeness plug which split the fandom in half. Well, since I usually adore things everyone else abominates, I decided to give this G5 a chance, even though I wasn't especially infatuated.
The pilot movie was magnificent! Superior to the G4 movie, absolutely mesmerizing animation, adequate-to-good characters, and an exquisite plot. I principally loved Sprout, it's depressing that he was thrown out the window nearly wholly after the film.
Then I watch the series, and... I suppose this is a poor shading technique...? Sprinkled on top are one-dimensional, mane six rip-offs, and ennuing and soulless stories. In particular, I developed an extremely deep-rooted and flaming prejudice towards Posey, even though I liked her in G1. However, it's alright. It's acceptable for a show to have lesser pre-eminent starters, then become into something expanded and enjoyable. And I was correct. Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 are a slight improvement, but are still exceedingly shallow and industrial waste-esque. Chapter 4 is when aspects begin to improve, there is conflict, the animation is better, Misty's arc is wrapping up. I don't comprehend the hype towards her, however. She's cute, but is a generic "verbal abuse victim". I forgot what Chapter 5 concerned itself around. And chapter 6, I loved. It is absolutely spectacular. Overall, Make Your Mark is bad. The occasional astonishingness won't suffice in elevating the series.
I merely saw a single Tell Your Tale episode, the Opaline one, and I despised it. Opi's song was amazing, though. However, I won't explain my thoughts, for I would be punching a mummified horse, and everyone else has already conjured them.
Overall, G5 is a downgrade in comparison to G4, in every aspect. There are gorgeous elements, but I wouldn't recommend it at all costs. Just go and peep at the older generations. #SAVEEQUESTRIAGIRLS.

In the meantime the make pony life and then years later g5....why could we not have g4 continue to be made?! It took so long for g5 to come out anyway plus they still sell mostly g4 stuff! I never have seen g5 toys etc! In china g4 right now is such a big hit they have their own official not bootleg cards! Yeah the are real! Also why make g5 if you dont have the full rights to it?!?! Wtf where the thinking!?!

Okay I will admit I think G5 is not perfect but I think G5 has worse writing and animation in Tell Your Tale. Make Your Mark and the movie where better in the quality the story does have continuty errors to G4 but I still think G5 is better and I agree G5 does have a darker story not only are Sunnys parents dead but most of the Mane 5's parents are dead weird that the parents are all dead in G5 it probably has something to do with the magic disappearing. I don't think Make Your Mark was a fail like these G4 purists are saying I think it was just as good as the movie these people are so spoiled about G4 that anything that isn't G4 is considered low quality and will never be as good as G4. Make Your Mark improved in Chapter 4-6 I think chapter 4-6 in 2023 was the best chapter of MYM! I hate that the show is loosing toy sales all because people are still prefering G4 over G5!

@@izzymoonbow36 I think Tell Your Tale is a good show too the only thing I don't like is that Sprout is not on the show for some strange reason it's been 2 seasons and he still hasn't appeared in a single episode! I am beginning to think the writers arent a fan of Sprout and are biased or Joshua Graham isn't avaliable which is strange because he is only avaliable on the game and Make Your Mark?

@@poseybloom55 How is G5 supposed to evoke something positive in me and others? Why are we obliged to speak well of the new generation if it's not true? God forbid we offend the feelings of those who like brown markers? I don't want a reboot of G4, in fact I don't want Hasbro to touch this finished story again, I want them to do something new, something quality. My only problem with the new generation is its connection to G4, but despite this connection the new generation constantly breaks the rules and lore of the previous one, hell, they even ruined the good ending of FiM just to make G5 its continuation.
@poseybloom55 acually your both right in a lot of ways, also I never meant to be negative in any way, I was just trying to make a point. If you want to know something I personally like g5, sure it has its moments where it doesn't get to the point, but I personally believe g5 dosent have any wasted potential, I know the writers can get to the point when they want to, it just takes time.
