This is like watching grass grow. Bubaboo's gonna be in college before they get the kitchen faucet installed. Why do I even keep watching this? Because it is real and it is informative and it is entertaining. Hang in there kids, you're getting there. If it's worth doing, it worth doing right.
I just want to say how much I appreciate the work you all put into your videos - I'll be watching your progress and then realize the angles you are getting the view from on the roof and realize you all stopped to do those to make your videos above and beyond in addition to building your house. Thank you. No other channel I watch is at your level.
Everytime I see poor Jesse cutting all the sheet metal with his shear I wish he had the whole set of right cutting, left cutting, and straight cutting. Then he could make the dang cuts without the shear getting in its own way.
The roof definitely seemed more difficult than the rest of the house combined. Probably because of the safety, heat, and problem solving issues. Good job guys. Congratulations!
Before you call the roof finished you should add some lightning protection. Have not heard any mention of it yet. And, make sure you have a nice big weather vane.
I know what it's like to finally get to breath that sigh of relief. Especially on projects that are high up off the ground. And if heights aren't your thing you also know the stress and tension. That comes along with working in such conditions. Congratulations to both of you!!!
I wonder how many caught the time line reference. The roof was completed 1 day before fall, so this video was made September 20ish. So for all those who are giving ideas and tips you are almost 2 months late in your suggestions. Looks great, if there are no leaks then it is a beauty job.
The whole purpose of Tyvek House Wrap is to allow moisture vapour to pass from the inside out, but prevent water droplets from getting in from the outside. Therefore wrapping the OSB is a must, like you said OSB hates moisture and will blow out the wood strands especially around the edges. And any water that WILL make it's way in between layers within the structure and gets trapped will rot your house out.
WELL DONE GUYS!!! I HAVE BEEN WITH YOU FROM THE DAY YOU GOT THIS LAND. THANKS SO SO SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO AND ALL THE HARD WORK ON THE VIDEOS. LOVE YOU GUYS!! GOD BLESS!!!
Thanks for letting us come along for the journey!!! I am starting a cabin build project in Alaska this summer and you guys proved to me that the purchase of a telescopic fork lift is the 1st order of business. I now own a used one. The plan is to use it as long as I need it and then sell it. I will also use it to load the sawmill with logs and move the rough cut beams and lumber with it. Thanks again.
Congratulations on a job very well done!!!! I admire the tenacity of both of you! WOW! I feel like celebrating too! I'm so glad the roof is done and both of you are safe. You are a blessing!
Congrads you two, what a job, this has been a real testimony and an encouragement for me. Unless you worked under these conditions no one really knows what your bodies have to endured working under these conditions, take a BREAK let your bodies rebuild and it will make you stronger. Enjoy this because I just don't think anyone has anything over you guys. And thank you for the quality videos you guys do, be and stay safe...
You two did an awesome job on your roof and I have to say being a contractor owner I’m totally impressed! You have to understand that you guys have done one of the most difficult roofs anyone can ever do and you did it congrats, doesn’t get any better than that!
Congrats on a tough job well done! I remember watching you start that roof and I thought that there was no way you two would get that done, that you'd have to call someone in to do it but I was wrong and you guys did a very difficult job spendidly! It's truly beautiful and I am SO proud of you! I wish I were nearby so I could come help you do something, but north Texas is a long drive to your place. Maybe if I win the lottery. LOL....I guess I need to start playing it, huh? Enjoy your long deserved break, eat pizza until you burp crust and we'll be here with baited breath waiting to see the next step tackled with your humor and energy! And hey, I gotta tell you that some of those words you come up with makes me chuckle! Stay safe and enjoy your break!
You guys are rock stars.. Congratulations!! What a difficult accomplishment.. I'm glad you posted these videos, and allowed me to come along with you two on your journey through this wonderful project. Thank you
So happy that another milestone has been safely reached. I bet that you guys can see the finished house in your minds, and it has to be SO satisfying to have completed the roof! Congrats!!
You guys rock. I know that the roof has been done for some weeks, but we have been on pins and needles anticipating this day. I look forward to your posts daily. You guys really are rock stars. Thank you for your great examples.
I'm surprised he didn't try smushing the foam into the cracks with a trowel, wide putty knife, of even just a scrap piece of sheet metal from the roof.
Great job guys!! The roof was obviously a LOT of work, but you are now officially dried in-a major and significant step on the journey. I'm in Florida, but after more than a year of watching your videos it's been a wonderful saga, and though it will probably never happen, I'd love to visit to see the culmination of the project in person. Very well done for your persistence throughout the project. The metal roof looks beautiful. You two are amazing, and despite exhaustion you keep on going. You're both heros.
Fantastic job guys well done yippy. Go celebrate have fun . Im so happy for you. And buggaboo. Love that cat so much too. House wrap before winter and tou will be cozie inside. How exciting to be able to move in. wow. God Bless.
Love to see all your vids guys. I have a construction company in the Netherlands. My deepest respect for what you did so far. Two people with golden hands.
So glad you two remained safe. Always scared me when you two were up there. I am sure I am projecting my own fears. You two are awesome. That great American can do spirit is well represented in you two. Time for pizza you earned it.
Usually Alyssa gets the bad ass award but today Jesse, that award goes to you! I love how you just figure shit out and get it done! So glad you guys made it through the roof project safely! And yes, Pizza is the ultimate motivator!!!
And so the great roof adventure comes to an end. I have been riveted (joke intended) the last month watching this happen, and am so impressed. I had no idea what was involved, but as I drive around here in Georgia and see all the old rusted metal roofs, I appreciate them more than I did. Congrats on this epic achievement, and may you have 50 years of leak-free living ahead of you.
I have no idea what your vocation is but your roof is amazing. I know it was very difficult but the result is wonderful. This also goes for the entire house. Your perfection shows.
With the ridge end, you should seal behind the bend, and bring it down to a mitre. So there is a level line coming down. It was a good effort because you don't do it for living, but there is a way better and neater way of doing it. Those tin snips are straight cutters and you'd need left and rights to make your life easier. I ain't out to lecture you I just know you like to learn so some advice from someone who does it for a living. Good job and congrats
Alyssa you are amazing you get the music perfect for just exactly what you're videotaping Jessie you're doing a great job don't get discouraged keep up the fight. I've hung with you guys since the beginning even watched videos over and over really enjoy it sorry it's at your expense but really love them.
I would just like to say how much I enjoy your videos. You and your wife are doing a great job And that cat is just the best and that’s coming from dog lover I should say I love all animals. Every day I look forward to your videos. Much appreciate your time and effort. Regards Michael
started watching when i got tired of a famous homesteader and you guys only had the rv and the hottub. good times, eh? thanks for inspiring us and good luck for everything ahead to come.
well don't let detracters get you down.. you guys are rockstars. This build takes so much stamina, mentally and physically. I am super impressed. thanks so much for making it that much harder and sharing it with everybody. been watching since you bought the property!
Two thumbs up! I will never build a house so the technicalities were wasted on me. What was NOT wasted was the marvelous example you two have been to me and a whole community of people who believe in working hard to get the things we want, taking control of our lives, and yes, sometimes just grinding it out. So when we ask ourselves WHY? We know that even tho some of the middle parts were the pits, if we persevere were gonna come out on the other side having accomplished our goal, gaining skill, pride and faith in our abilities as we go. Way to go! (And I bet there is a whole group of folks you inspire to reach higher than they ever thought possible.....)
Jesse you both have earned a large pizza made by the best pizza maker in the world served on very fine gold pan (sorry Jesse just had to say it "foam" :) ) WELL DONE!
Been there, done that, so I know it feels fantastic! Congratulations. What a tremendous effort. You conquered Everest and I think you just named your home! Wonderful work from the dynamic duo.🐎🐎🐎
Jesse, I know you don't know me, but I'm so proud of you for pushing through the tired. Your home looks amazing. All aspects of it's character looks great. You definitely earned your rest time! You guys are both awesome. But at the beginning of this video, I could see the tired in your body just by how you were walking and loading the basket. Huge congrats man!
so I've been watching you with your build. Have to commend you and your doing great. Now from a mechanical standpoint, I don't see any plumbing vents or ?wood stove/ chimney flashings. Would have been so much easier during the roof process as opposed to after the fact. Just my experience
Congratulations on finishing what was hopefully the most dangerous pain in the æ part of your build. You'll laugh about the foam at some point, it kicked your butt. For narrow gaps, calk works better than foam.
It looks amazing! I too, cant believe they don't sell a pre-manufactured end cap, or had a fabricator make 2. It's okay Jessie, from here in the Adirondacks NY it looks great. So have a drink, take a drive- then it's back outside to slap up some clapboard and get it sided before the moon of the fallen leaves.
You guys are awesome! Crazy impressed about all the hard work and still finding time to edit and produce videos. I'm building a house in the spring in Alaska and you guys are a major source of encouragement
Martin here in good old blighty. Seriously awesome job guys I think you have done a stunning job, here in the UK when we build we have what's know as a topping out ceremony, and no one deserves it more than you two.
Congrats from the country of brick/stone houses (Germany) to the finish of you roof. Watching you guys building you dream home is truly a pleasure. What a great project and I'm happy nobody get hurt. Enjoy the rest of summer and special greetings to buckaboo.
Congratulations on creating a roof that your grandkids can admire. Before putting my standing seam on, I looked at hurricane damage, tornado damage, 60 year old roofs in the deep south and decided that it is the roof of choice. I will take it over any other roof except maybe the new Tesla roofs with solar. You did a great job on end caps and it looks good. You will sleep soundly when there are big storms. No worry about leaks or damage from hail. Here in Austin, mine was subjected to 3 inch hail and after a few years it looks like there was never any hail hit it. When the squirrels, cats, and other critters are on it, I don't care as they can't do any damage. KUDOS!!
i was right! they are several weeks behind on uploading video! she said the first day of fall is tomorrow, which is 9/23. today is 11/9. but i won't give them that bad of a time about it. i'd rather see their time putting progress in on the house than keeping up-to-date with videos. it would be nice though to see how far they've actually gotten though. and congrats on the roof. 1 major step done!
guys before you think your done, your not, you have too wrap the house in house wrap then siding. but the house wrap is a must.. glad that you got the roof done. thanks for posting...
Congrats guys, i love the open and honest way you tell us about your journey. I hope you take a rest and recover from the stress and burnout. Love the cat and the garden you inspire many people to "have a go"
Huge congratulations on finishing the roof, great job guys. I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing your journey so far and look forward to coming along with you for the rest. Hugs from Australia.
Congrats! This is what it must feel like to finish a marathon! Now take a bit of a break, catch your breath, and recharge your batteries. Winter is coming. Looking forward to the next battle.
One hell of a job!! Don't think I would ever want to follow in your foot steps. But that said, Congrat's to both of you. Take that break and rejuvenate yourselves.
Hooay! I'm so glad that roof is done. Well done and no one fell off!

That's the first time I stood up in my kitchen and gave someone a standing ovation. Well done and thank you for sharing.
Thanks for letting us come along for the journey!!! My husband and I enjoy watching you guys. You seem like an amazing couple. Congratulations on finishing your roof.
WOOT! WOOT! Thanks for sharing your journey and NOT falling off the roof. You will do it!
You guys did it! Many hours of watching you whilst gripping on to my chair praying you would not fall! You should be so proud!
Congrats!!
Are you actually expecting the pop rivets to be waterproof? Generally speaking they are not.
Thanks you guys for going BEAST MODE on the videos the last month or so to catch us up!!
The only thing missing from alllllll these long hard days of work is a cold beer at the end of the day?
I'm celebrating too! It was painful watching you guys persevere through heat and exhaustion. You are amazing and I'm glad I watched the whole thing.
You guys just defined yourselves. Awesome
Great job guys!! The roof was obviously a LOT of work, but you are now officially dried in-a major and significant step on the journey. i built Steel Buildings for a Decade.
its way more fun with A 12 Man Crew!!!!
😆😆😆😆
I found myself holding my breath, as you put the last bit of caulking on! Well done! The roof is soooo important, you did it justice.
Save your video's for the kids. They will enjoy them as much as we have.
So glad you two remained safe. Always scared me when you two were up there. I am sure I am projecting my own fears. You two are awesome. That great American can do spirit is well represented in you two. Time for pizza you earned it.
WELL done guys you're an inspiration thumbs up from Australia
In celebration we should simply agree that 'Condensated' is the new real word - very many congratulations on a beautiful job !
are hopeful that you guys going be in the house for the winter
Usually Alyssa gets the bad ass award but today Jesse, that award goes to you! I love how you just figure shit out and get it done! So glad you guys made it through the roof project safely! And yes, Pizza is the ultimate motivator!!!
it will never end, just wait til you have to cut holes in the roof for plumbing vents..sorry to POP your finished bubble
And so the great roof adventure comes to an end. I have been riveted (joke intended) the last month watching this happen, and am so impressed. Loved the tragic piano music behind Jesse's foam rant. :-) @ 24:35

Congratulations! None of us can be as thrilled that the roof is done as you are.
Why use foam when you can seal the small joints with caulking?
Alyssa you are amazing you get the music perfect for just exactly what you're videotaping Jessie you're doing a great job don't get discouraged keep up the fight. I've hung with you guys since the beginning even watched videos over and over really enjoy it sorry it's at your expense but really love them.
Right On !
I would just like to say how much I enjoy your videos. You and your wife are doing a great job
And that cat is just the best and that’s coming from dog lover I should say I love all animals.
Every day I look forward to your videos. Much appreciate your time and effort. Regards Michael
Congratulations Jesse and Alissa! Love to Bagaboo, the star of the show ;)
started watching when i got tired of a famous homesteader and you guys only had the rv and the hottub. good times, eh? thanks for inspiring us and good luck for everything ahead to come.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Glad it’s done and glad you’re both safe. Held my breath watching. Ye ha
You couldn't just buy end caps?
well don't let detracters get you down.. you guys are rockstars. This build takes so much stamina, mentally and physically. I am super impressed. thanks so much for making it that much harder and sharing it with everybody. been watching since you bought the property!
Wait.... Fall starts tomorrow you say? So that mean you guys have a month of footage back logged? Im excited to see the progress!!!!

The old question - How do you eat an Elephant? ....... One mouthful at a time...... Keep it moving, you are legends!
EXCELLENT, no more roofing adventures for a while. Just venting!!!!! Ya did good, both of you. Thanks for sharing.
Jesse you both have earned a large pizza made by the best pizza maker in the world served on very fine gold pan (sorry Jesse just had to say it "foam" :) ) WELL DONE!

i think it would be perfect, if there would be side cap shaped like ridge cap and riveted from the top side
Drusilla already said it for most of us. We are almost as happy as you are that you will not have to go up there again. Good Job!
so I've been watching you with your build. Have to commend you and your doing great. Now from a mechanical standpoint, I don't see any plumbing vents or ?wood stove/ chimney flashings. Would have been so much easier during the roof process as opposed to after the fact. Just my experience
What a milestone! The roof looks so danged good. I think it looks "crisp".
I still want to see Bugaboo the movie.
I,m so happy that the roof is done and nothing bad happened to Jesse You both are a power couple.
Congratulations on finishing what was hopefully the most dangerous pain in the æ part of your build. You'll laugh about the foam at some point, it kicked your butt. For narrow gaps, calk works better than foam.
I have never commented on any RUclips . I'm so impressed by yr courage and stickability. well done
Well done to the both of you is just amazing to follow you been there from the beginning 👍👍🥂🇬🇧.
Congrats! You managed to hang through it and finish the Monster Roof - and will be glad forever when snowing and raining!
It looks amazing! I too, cant believe they don't sell a pre-manufactured end cap, or had a fabricator make 2. It's okay Jessie, from here in the Adirondacks NY it looks great. Congrats from the country of brick/stone houses (Germany) to the finish of you roof.

guys before you think your done, your not, you have too wrap the house in house wrap then siding. but the house wrap is a must.. glad that you got the roof done. thanks for posting...
Hard for me to believe all that sheet metal work and not a stitch anywhere. I would have bled to death the first week.
Congrats guys, i love the open and honest way you tell us about your journey. I hope you take a rest and recover from the stress and burnout. Love the cat and the garden you inspire many people to "have a go"
Jessie when Allisa leave you up like that. Do you ever feel like the guy on The Hang Over?
Huge congratulations on finishing the roof, great job guys. I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing your journey so far and look forward to coming along with you for the rest. Hugs from Australia.
Are you going to add guttering and or rainwater collection at some point?
What a great "wrap-up" this video is ! AND thanks for showing your Garden and Buggaboo xxx Oh yes, bye to "Lolly" - thanks for your help xxx
So, what’s the next project? Won’t you need the lift to put up siding?
Congrats! This is what it must feel like to finish a marathon! Now take a bit of a break, catch your breath, and recharge your batteries. Winter is coming. Looking forward to the next battle.
should have folded the right side over first then the left , no gap at the top!
One hell of a job!! Don't think I would ever want to follow in your foot steps. But that said, Congrat's to both of you. Take that break and rejuvenate yourselves.
Well Done peeps!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great work it’s good to have your feet on the ground . Now it’s time to get the house ready to live in .
I just have to say again that the roof looks great! Also, that it is pizza tonight for me too! I love pizza :)
So so so happy for you both! Did a happy dance to celebrate the completion of your roof ❤️ so awesome!
