For inshore jetties, you're really better off with a short pole spear, JBL Lion Tamer with an extend rock point single flapper would be my choice. Although these days in NC, Flounder is now heavily regulated, 1-fish during a 30day season last year. Only other viable targets will be sheephead, none of the black sea bass inshore will be of legal size, drum off-limits to spearos.

And those flapper tips fair better on rocks than the multi-tine paralyzer tips.
Chris F. Limit at the time of this filming was 6/person per day and all were beyond minimum size. Nothing is more selective or has a lower bycatch rate than spearing.
You’d hate to see a commercial gigging trip then. Spearfishing is zero bycatch, zero dead discards unlike “skilled” line anglers drowning mullet on a hook. Recreation size and creel limits apply. And yes, radio island jetty is sprearfished year round too by far more people.
What’s a good beginner gun to hunt around the jetty and places similar?

Stop vacuuming all the flounder in a beautiful fishing and diving spot. Lose the scuba gear and hold your breath.
Lol.
Back in the early 90s i almost got attacked by a shark at those jettys.
Barry, what kind of spears do you recommend using for jetty fishing?

awesome! love it
I thought the limit was 6 per person per day?
you did see the two people diving right?
That was more than 12 flounder broh and they were tiny you goin to hell
Your crazy none of those fish were small and we had our limit of fish
I hope you have your CFL?
why? all fish legally taken
I saw my 20$ fishing lure...u should've got it for me
We do salvage a lot of lead off the jetties - haven't bought lead weights (or boat anchors) in years myself.
I'm with she park service an I will be watching very closely for now on.
aren't some of those flounders under legal size and isn't there a daily limit? be responsible and disciplined.

Must not be an answer about the limit either
Limit was questioned and answered several times in comments here, two divers, 6/per limit on Flounder at the time. All legal and within limits.
Must not be a limit
at that time we had our limit of fish. the limit has now been changed
there probably is but many people are assholes and ignore it.
I hope the NPS is reviewing this video and thinking about changing some rules. Very unfair.
I understand spear fishing, I just hate to see people keep this many. It hurts the ecosystem.
Colin Stephenson didn’t break any laws. We had the correct amount of fish for the boat.
@Colon You don't understand spearfishing
Wonder why they closed the season?
Because of this
Go ahead and clean out radio island jetty while your at it, takes no skill to do this

Wow we are still getting crap for the video. Lol.
real men free dive or use hook and line. Makes me sick watching this....no sport at all.
i agree, Matthew. no real sport in spearing them while using scuba tanks. "like fish in a barrel."
crazy how butt hurt people are about u spearfishing, those guys must not know about gigging and awesome video
