I have to agree. Even if it was an accident, I could never trust them again to watch a child. You don't babysit if you're taking sleeping pills when a child needs to be watched 24/7. Grandfather left the house while she was napping with the first death. If you know there's a kid in your house and the babysitter is asleep, why leave the house? It takes a village. Maybe there's dementia going on and no one is addressing it. Should the daughter ever leave a third child in their care and anything happens, you cannot convince me this is coincidence.

The daughter insisted she always took the baby to work then took her home before lunch time to nap in her own crib at home. She then said it was unusual for her to be asking her mother to look after Uriel in the afternoon? Grandpa just took the stand and said either he or his wife picked up the child 3-5 times a week and took her to their house for the afternoon? That’s a complete contradiction.

Exactly, grandpa stated he or Tracy picked the baby up several days a week to take back to their house till the husband picked her up after 5pm. The mother made out she took her own baby home every day in time for a nap in her own crib and asking the grandmother to come get her from the office was almost a one off? She also said the hairdresser was super close to the restaurant so she’d be close by. If that was the case, why didn’t she pick the baby up from the restaurant or have Tracy bring the baby to the hairdresser if she was done with lunch before the hair appt was finished so she could take her own baby home?

My Subaru is fitted with a backseat passenger alarm that remains active until the rear door is opened. Moreover, our lakefront residence features a comprehensive safety system, including alarms, child locks, and water immersion sensors that trigger a loud alarm audible throughout the neighborhood in the event of an emergency.

My parents became first time grandparents at ages 67. They did the same thing and ensured their home was safe.
Also, they took care of the twin boys (yes twin boys) during short periods as both had some health issues that would have prevented them from taking care of them over long periods as toddlers.
Once the boys got older like 5, they made sure everything was safe, including when Grandma made yummy baked goodies they loved.
I just don’t understand why the grandfather didn’t enquire about where their granddaughter was once the grandmother came home?
My father would have at least said to my Mother “Oh so did you drop the boys off ?”
Another thing: with the first grandson drowning, which happened less than a year previous (if you can believe that!) why did the grandmother get in her car and drive around? Perhaps it was to get a better look at the pond behind their house?
If a drowning happened the year previous, any grandmother would take extra precautions to make sure the child was safe.
My heart literally breaks for the parents, especially the Mom. She’s lost her Mother and potentially Father in this as well.
      It’s just horrible!

I think there’s something weird about the mother. Even if you thought it was an accident with your first child who would leave the next child with the grandmother again? If the grandmother was negligent how is the mother not negligent for doing that? Wouldn’t a reasonable person not leave your child alone with the person responsible for the death of your first child? Also in an interview both the mother and father said they didn’t trust the grandmother; then why leave your child with her again? This wasn’t an emergency. It was a hair appointment and in her testimony the mother said she always took her kids with her to appointments usually. So why not take the child that day? She made it sound like the grandmother hardly ever watched her daughter and the grandmother said she watched her on a weekly basis. There’s something very strange here.

When they get out of the car they will notice one shoe is missing and they will remember it is in the back with the baby. Especially if one parent normally drives the child to daycare and the other parent for some reason does it instead. They are out of their normal routine and sometimes forget the babies. Whenever I saw my grandparents it was a family event. My parents never left my sister or I at my grandparents for them to babysit while they went places. Kids today have the children, then use the grandparents as daycare providers.
This grandmother was on many medications and not capable of babysitting grandchildren. The grandfather just stated they watched grandchildren 3-5 times a week. They are retired, in their golden years and should not be burdened with raising grandkids. Grandma had to take naps due to medications she took.
This is so heartbreaking for all involved.

    This was done deliberately imo.
What grandmother refers to her grandchild as "the child"? No emotions or remorse at all.
    She is evil.

During the work week, I cared for all 3 of my grandkids from age 3 months to time they started Pre-K, while their parents worked. Not once did I ever forget they were in their car seats after taking them to the parks or elsewhere. They were the first thing on my mind, taking them out of my car! How in God's name could you forget a child for hours or even minutes! After the first child's death, why did they allow the grandmother to care for the other child that also died in her care!🙄

I’m sure you did a fine job raising your grandchildren, but that is such a shame that your child and their spouse would just drop off their kid to you all day long so that they could work. How incredibly selfish they are. And shame on you for not speaking up.

Nappy bags, bottles, wipes, extra clothes, blankets, toys and so it goes on… a grandmother’s role is to enjoy her grandchildren and then to ‘give them back’! Why is it a given that grandparents are substitutes and free childcares? This grandmother, who deserved to live the rest of her life without the huge responsibility of caring for small children, is now doomed to suffer.
And the daughter ‘forgave’ her eventually after the last child died. Why would you ever give another child to your mother to care for? Clearly she was not up to the task. THAT is unforgivable.

@patriciagriswold6060 I assume she was giving her mom the benefit of doubt the first time. Apparently the authorities told her it was a accident so she believed that. I guess she didn't think her mom was a killer. I am wondering though if her mom didn't have a extreme jealousy problem and that's why the "accidents" kept happening. From what I gathered at the news conference of the deceased babies mom, she is going to have them relook into her sons death. Idk it's horrible and I couldn't imagine being them.
