Miss u dad so much & love u heaps u gone but never forgotten from friends family's & fans that love u songs heaps so yeah I would like to say thank for all this nice comments that u wrote to my father:)
Your dad inspired a generation of young white Australians to learn about the First Nations people and the richness of their cultures. I can still recall being 16 years old on the floor of the Hordern Pavilion with thousands of us punching the air and singing along with him "Stand up, stand up and be counted." I don't know when or why so many those others with me that day decided to sit down but the shame of what my generation has become - the selfish, materialistic 3 rental property owning LNP voter base - is with me every day.
I get home after a night out (Kansas City). I had a yearning to hear and see this classic that was such an impactful song from growing up (Melbourne). Have listened to these guys everywhere I’ve traveled. The fact I’m still seeking out the song, and you’re reading this comment, proves really how strong it is. #warumpis
It's sacrilege this song (and band) were not given the airtime on local radio that they deserved. when they were making their rounds. So many kids growing up in Australia not knowing them or hearing their awesome music that has meaning and the 'spirit of Australia'. I first heard them in Atherton in 1992 and I was hooked. Thankyou Warumpi Band.
One of the greatest Aussie songs of all time full of yearning, nostalgia and reflection on the paths life takes you down - cracking track thankyou Warumpi Band respect!
Such a beautiful song!! I love it so much!!! 🙂🎶 Love from an Irish man, who’s living in Japan...singing this beautiful song, while dreaming and yearning for “my island home” so far away in Ireland 😊☘️
I use to live away from my home i had my kids my woman but still it hurt .Every time i listened to this song it break me down to tears because i just wanted to go back home to my people. Powerful
Love this song George had a great voice , sadly no longer with us. I think this was a very underrated group. Like the bit at 2.05 - two hands one black one white to me that has a lot of meaning.
An underrated band and most think it was Christine Anu had the original version. I have seen these guys in concert and they are fantastic and a credit to Australia.
This is Australia's most awesome folksong. Pity that the Warumpi Band was never given the spot light during their time. Shame on us Aussie's. The band consisted of George Burarrwanga on vocals and didgeridoo, Gordon Butcher Tjapanangka on drums, his brother Sammy Butcher Tjapanangka on guitar and bass guitar, and Neil Murray on rhythm guitar and backing vocals.

So much integrity & authenticity. Absolutely no artifice. Much respect to your dad. You sound as proud of him as I'd be if he was my dad. RIP.
