  • More tough meltdowns due to diapers. I recorded right after a really long one while emotions were still very high. We still did have good days too. Worked on her room, got the walls painted and getting close to starting the best part... The flooring.
2024 Update: I have learned what to do and what not to do. I talk about restraining for safety in this video. I learned over the years that restraint should be the very last option because it makes her meltdowns much worse. Also, things can get better. Meltdown free for 10 months!
Also some great Braylee video clips in this one! #autism #weefam #autismparenting #autismdad

Aww! Braylee is adorable! My daughter is 20 now and she just recently asked to paint her room purple! She still has occasional meltdowns but not as often as when she was little! We thought we were gonna have one on her birthday last week because she didn't get 20 presents. She had asked for 20 earlier in the week, but thank goodness she got over it quick!

I guess the world tends to believe that not wanting to share ur emotions/feelings is a "man thing".... I would disagree with that.... Not only am I a woman... I graduated in 1992 with a BS in psychology... So, I guess it would seem that I would feel comfortable expressing my emotions.... but, I'm NOT.
It's easy to show emotion and feelings about someone else's life.... but when it's something personal.... Close to home so to speak... It's entirely different!
So, David.... I applaud you for your courage and strength to share such personal, raw pain! 🌟

OMG. That youtube video B was watching/listening to towards the end when she plopped on the couch-my daughter watches that same video. I'm not sure what language it is or what it's saying. As soon as I heard it I was like OMG. It used to get stuck in my head n I was like"no!" She walks around saying random things from about 6/7 different languages. It's so cool.

I don't know if they give a child a med called kolonpin but they gave it to my adult son and it totally stopped the meltdowns.....I didn't really know weather to try it or not but I did and thank GOD it worked.....

Poor David-u look so tired. I'm sorry. My daughter went through a period where we let her wear underwear during the day at home but pullups at school n at night. Then she started freaking out about wearing them. I tried every kind hoping a comfortable one will work. But it was tough because I wanted her to be comfy n calm but didn't want her to have accidents at school in her undies n clothes. I totally understand how hard it is,not wanting to hurt them trying to restrain them but wanting to keep them from hurting themselves in the process. My daughter is n always has been super strong n people are like"you're bigger n stronger than her" but til they actually have to experience it they don't realize how strong she is n most importantly for me is I'm worried about hurting her. I'm a Ravens fan (still purple) from MD. But my bio dad was a vikings fan n he bought me a vikings starter jacket when I was a kid n I rocked it because I felt obligated because it was expensive n were lower middle class. The Vikings are a pretty good team.

I don’t think people necessarily realize that no matter their size, they are basically running on adrenaline in meltdown situations so they are so much stronger than they seem by their size

Ok I know this old one. But came in my feed of bad meltdown. I had do the bear hold. He bite me pulled my hair all went down on camera with his teachers. I cried so hard. I had hard time even doing the bear hold. I hear what I'm feeling.

😢 those moments are so hard and the reality is that they do happen. The important part is getting through it. So many big feelings they’re processing that we just don’t understand. Remember to be kind to yourself in those hard moments as well
