You should do a cooking course and film it. Makes sense for each country. Pick something typical, perhaps that you can get in the west too and do the cookery course on it. Pad Thai is certainly in the west and doable at home etc. Pick something from Vietnam that you could do in the UK, get the cookery course in Vietnam on how to cook it.
If you picked something where you can't get the ingredients its harder, for example holy basil. That rules out one dish from Thailand.

Wow wow wow. I actually felt sad watching that. Sad that I am not there right now. Looks so peaceful, beautiful, and utterly charming. The kind of place you can sit by the side of the water and be gloriously happy to be alive. A place where you just "be", and so happy to do nothing but soak up the moment. Needless to say, I LOVE it. Superb video too by the way. I'll be watching this again and again.
Interestingly enough, as the video finished the likes were on 333 so I looked up the meaning of 333 - "The three numbers can stand for the three symbols for the mind, the body and the spirit". Hmmm, I know it's new-agey so forgive me. I'm a bit of a daft old bugger like that, but it's very fitting.

Just got back from VN 3 weeks ago. Of all the cities we visited, Hội An is the best city! We love and love this place. If we were to retire, we would choose Hội An to retire part time outside of the US. We have so many beautiful memories in term of the vibe of this town, the people, and the interaction we had with the locals. It is a place where if you stand still in silence long enough, you can feel the past is still living among the present. Hội An will always be in our memory and in our hearts until the day we can return.
Cao Lau is similar to udon noodles, actually udon noodles originate from Vietnam, in the past Hoi An was a large seaport connecting to Japan and other countries.
I absolutely love Hoi An I had such an amazing time there .
Love this town. I could visit this right now❤️ if I could . Yes the best way to start the day and yes the best Banh mi in Vietnam 🇻🇳 . This An Bang beach means "Peaceful state/region". For Dalat, make sure you bring a sweater and coffee cuz it's gonna cold and sleepy.

Another cracking video paddy! I love Hoi An. I had too many Banh Mi Phuongs there to even count! Its surprising how many people don't go to the beaches when they go there.. Hidden beach was by far my favourite just south of An Bang - probably the least touristy beach you can find there but they still have all the food and drink you need :)

I have said it before, I will say it again. One of the things I love about Paddy's vlogs is that he states the month that he was there. This is really useful info. You can gauge from that what the weather, etc is like. So many other well known vloggers fail to do this.
The little café near the Japanese bridge opposite the water front is where they filmed part of The Quiet American where Brendan Fraser meets Michael Caine
It is amazing how Hoi An can be so touristed and yet still have enough charm to overcome it. I have been there 5 times and heading back again this fall. Last trip I had a custom made water buffalo jacket made, for my motorcycle trip to the north. Where else in the world can you have that done LOL
I would love that kind of Jacket.

I like your realistic unpretentious take on Hoi An. I hear so many people saying, "It's too touristy" or "It's not real Vietnam". I get what they are saying, but it's all real. Every country has its tourist areas and they have become tourist areas for a reason. In this case it's a beautiful place with a bit of magic. That doesn't make it less real. Thank you for sharing your Bahn Mi recommendation and the place you stayed. Do you know if public transportation runs from City center to the beach area you stayed? BTW... love the way you incorporated the local singer's song into the video.

I was waiting for you to hit Hoi An. It was our favourite place in Vietnam. We spent 10 glorious days there, and stayed in a lovely Hotel on the street that sold those beautiful lanterns. I bought some small ones, and I put the. Up at Christmas time in the house. Wonderful memories of such a magical place.

Absolutely beautiful. What a great little town. I stayed an extra 5 days then planned when I went , was just so relaxing riding around town with the bicycle, remember the restaurant Morning Glory, was super for a meal with a French red watching the world go by form the balcony. Absolutely lovely 😍

My favorite restaurant too. Love sitting in this restaurant at night listening to the singer while enjoying a wonderful meal. At the same time watching the street light up with lanterns and people walking by. I would be happy to do this every evening for the rest of my life.

Great video Paddy - as always! Thanks for showing us Hoi An in your way. I have seen a few other vlogs on Hoi An and I got the feeling it was too touristy for me. It had put me off. Thankfully your set of fresh eyes has shown me why Hoi An is worth a visit. Best tip of all is the area you stayed in, An Bang. Thanks Again Paddy.
I was there in 2016 and it was way more busy and noisy at night! Lots of western tourists and bars playing music! My favorites parts were the cycling exploring the yellow lanes and all the islands in front of Hoi An and to the beach. But we cycled to a small beach on the right / south and the water was soo hot on that day ! Lovely memories! I hope to come back soon ! !

Same thing when I visit the China ancient town Feng Huang. Very quiet in the day time but so crowded at night.

IN THE last video he visited a touristy place but did not enjoy but in this video had been to hoi an and he was really having his time.
There's a major difference between Da Nang, which is a modern and shiny concrete jungle vs a quaint little town full of character and history.

Did From Hue to there in private van with my wife's family from Lao. in the off season. Very cheap and no people. We talk all the time of going back. It is one of the very special places on earth. A must see.
So glad to hear that you're enjoying Hoi An after the disappointment in Danang. You definitely look more relaxed! I've been to Hoi An at least 20x since living in Vietnam and have yet to get bored! And true - it does have the *BEST* Banh Mi in the WORLD!!! Besides the chili sauce - what makes the banh mi there special is the baguette itself and the homemade roasted pork belly and pate. Yum - can't wait to head back and have one soon!

You're the best Paddy! I'm in Thailand right now and I'm going to be in Vietnam very soon after a one week trip through Cambodia. Your videos are a wealth of knowledge for the traveler to Vietnam. I will be going from south to north starting in Phu Quoc, and your videos have really shown me the way. I'm focusing the most on the north. One of the best videos that you have done, perfect in every way. We were due to visit Vietnam April 2020 for the first F1 Grand Prix in Hanoi, then onto Da Nang, Hoi An & Thailand before heading back to Cyprus, obvs didnt happen but watching this made me realise how much we missed. Thank you for taking us along on your travels.

I came back from Bangkok, Hoi An, Hue, and Da Nang trip. I also had the best experiences in Hoi An and Bangkok in this trip. Although Hoi An in the evening is very crowded, cycling and walking around the river and old town daytime is really relaxed and people were so friendly. I recommend people who visit Hoi An stay in Hoi An at least 2 or 3 days.
I was surprised that so many Vietnamese tourists come to Hoi An, and the town was very crowded in the evening.
A restaurant owner told me that about 3,000 Chinese tourists came to Hoi An every evening before the pandemic. So, it is the best to go to Hoi An before Chinese tourists come back.

What he means is that because there are so many of them, the place becomes hugely overcrowded. Implied in the comment is the fact that they contribute greatly to the local economy, but best to get there now and enjoy Hoi An without the massive crowds

Thanks for bringing my memories back on Hoi An, I forgot how beautifull it was. Now on your way to Dalat, in my memorie I wasn,t that crazy about Dalat, but probably after seeing your vdo on it, it will bring back good memories. I remember that I told my self after visiting Dalat that there is nothing special to see , only a gouverners house which you can visit and a lake. We see what you make from it. I stayed here in Hoi An for a week and loved it.
But although that ancient bridge is lovely, that water underneath stunk when I was there! 😂… it’s basically raw sewage. And I saw a little guy fishing in it one day! 😳

you should go to Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. These two provinces possess the most beautiful sand dunes in Vietnam. Mui Ne sand dunes of Binh Thuan province are very famous, but in terms of beauty and wildness, I am sure that it is not as beautiful as the sand dunes of Ninh Thuan province, especially Mui Dinh.

Watching these Vietnam video's has been so interesting, such a spectacularly beautiful country! I have always wanted to visit Vietnam but had a totally different image in my mind about all of these cities I have heard so much about! This is why travel vlogs are so awesome, you get the real version not the glossed over view. Can't wait to watch you move into Southern Thailand, Paddy. Hoi An is a beautiful place, that is definitely staying on my list.

Went to Hoi An in 1992 just after Vietnam had reopened, there was one government run guest house, only myself and 5 other foreigners in town. Same with Da Lat, it will be interesting to see what that is like when you get there.
