Ive been living in the suburbs of Atlanta since 2001 and everything you said is true. My mom has been out of work for years. The say shes either overqualified or dont want her(Im guessing because of her age 60's but able bodied). The traffic is horrible. Where i live it takes my bf an hour to get to work and its 11 miles away. The schools are horrible unless you move into a white/asian neighborhood like I did. Buying a home in this area is out of the question. Atlanta living is a lot harder than people put off. Love and hip hop is not real. Idk why people think everybody lives in luxury. They are living in expensive rentals that the show is paying for. Believe me.....I know sone of the folks.

At the end of the day, if you wanna move to Atlanta, you need to have an ENTREPRENEURIAL mindset OR own your own business. PERIOD! I'm tired of people talking about the job market and all that. Atlanta will eat you alive if you just expect to find a job, becuase yes the job market is bad and there aren't enough of them HENCE, you need to be able to start something on your own. People think of Atlanta and are disappointed because it's not what they THOUGHT.

Man yea I'm not trying to especially people like you telling it how it is. But Cali is just extreme cost, high maintanence living, everyone thinks they're rich here. The bay area is The most expensive part of cali other then Hollywood hills and parts of LA. The cost drove us to the boring hot valley or the desert lol.

You not go make it in Atlanta with 10,000 dollars. I'm glad I move out of Atlanta cause the job market sucks plus, the cost of living is going up. When I stayed down there the people are rude they don't wanna get money with you and do positive things and most of the people are superficial. Atlanta is a party city that's why when people watch these bullshit ass shows like Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Real Housewives of Atlanta made people believe the hype about Atlanta just to come to live their lifestyle. November this year will mark three years I left there no regrets. I'm doing good and better getting ready to travel to California in the fall.

The big problem with Atlanta is that it has been heavily invaded by people from the East and West Coasts. They have trampled over Atlanta's genteel, southern hospitality and welcoming friendliness. Atlanta is no longer that way. It has fast become a hostile rat race, in which people no longer care for one another -- the way they used to do back in the day. I have only spent one hour in Atlanta in my lifetime (between airplane flights), and that was more than enough for me. Next time, I'll stay at the airport and mind my business. The great city of Atlanta has become a joke! Pity!

When you move to any state, you have to have a plan. Most people who look for jobs and arent successful at it finding one, are looking for certain types of job. You have to be willing to clean up shit if you are desperate to have a paycheck. Im not trying to be mean, however some folks are more driven than others. Its like folks who move to California hoping to get discovered, but end up out on the streets, while too embarrassed and ignorant to go back home, or focus on a regular life. Many folks have giant dreams but are not ready for the challenge, life dose not come easy!!

I grew up in ATL (born in Cali). If u don't have family Connections in the south then u will have a rough time because u will be steered in the wrong direction constantly. I love the ATL and can't wait to get back there but I'm real about it at the same time. I make my home outside the perimeter (Powder Springs stand up) because in the city it's too expensive. Quiet is kept, ever since I was a youngin growing up in the 80's in ATL, the native Georgians never liked outsiders but they have a nice way about not letting u know about it, it's just real subtle and low-key until one day ur making a video about why u don't like ATL. If u move to ATL, remember to respect everybody, make connections fast, find somewhere outside the perimeter (if ur not stacked), and understand the old rules still apply. Sweet Tea anyone?

I have live in Atlanta since 1980 when my pops retired from the Army. I agree with everything you said! It didn't used to be like this. After I graduated High School in 1986, jobs were plentiful. After I got out of the Marines in 1992, jobs were still plentiful AND they paid well because of the Tech boom. You didn't have to have a Master Degree to get a job. You didn't have to have the top certification in your field to get a job (My field was Network Administration, top cert was Network+ or CCNA. Now it's CCIE at a minimum). Now you can't have any break in employment, at all. Something happened...I haven't worked a salaried job here in Atlanta since 2005 and I haven't worked a part-time job since 2011. I am only fortunate that I get some money from my VA disability and I live with my mother.

I hear a lot about people wanting working for others. Working for others almost never work out for the worker. Start your own business. Georgia make it easy for a person to run a business. I don't care where you from in America or where you live you should always try to mind your own business instead of working for anyone it only makes sense. Another thing makes sense is people are wasteful and they spending money being consumers at restaurants and everything instead of trying to grow their own garden and raise their own food and be healthy. Everybody see life differently so you just got to do what's best for you to survive but there are ways that you can survive in Atlanta or any other parts of Georgia if you get in where you fit in.

Georgia is hungry for more business stop search create business is a gold mine field in georgia. I m from Augusta and I learn when I lived in Charlotte nc. Towns in georgia are stepping into a rise because of less competition than Atlanta. A smart business decision and if have degrees then start a business in towns. Augusta wants more detainment real estate restaurants and services. Its growing fast in these fields. So pay attention to the growth opportunity in towns. Atlanta is overwhelm looking for work when there's too many people bundle up in that city of little room.

I went to school for the education to "build my own brand," not to go and work for someone else. If you wanna be rich, never take advice from someone less successful than yourself 😉😊💯✔

Aha! I lived in Atlanta from 02/1996 to 05/1998 moved Chicago BUT my job paid for my relocation and my being from the North? I never knew our race broke down to mentalities, 'black, colored and nigga,' and it was harder for me to learn to communicate with them than back when I dealt with the language barriors of when I was in the Army for 3 years and was overseas in Frankfurt, West Germany! I under stood those Foreigners than I did in the people of the South but my move from Chicago was a job advance opportunity of a life time, but my job put me in the front of 9 Southern States and I had to fact those people! Working for HUD in the Program Area of, “Office of Fair Housing,’ a/k/a which was the Federal version of Welfare Housing because I got 20 cases at the start of the week and out of 20 cases, ’14 would be Section-8, 4 may be Public Housing and the rest? If I’m lucky will be a working-class person.” Strange thing that people who lives off the system generationally had the most problems? How can they have problems and not have to pay for shit man? The stories I could tell you! Dealing with 9 Southern States of Black people and it absolutely blew my mind! MLK was born and raised down there? Really! The social able side of Atlanta was great back then, 'I don't know about now,' but the people I met outside of work was great! And I lived through the before, during and after of the Olympics, and 3 Freak nicks and by the time I got to 1998? It was time for me to move on and I got blessed again and got selected for the same kind of job but in Philadelphia which I stayed 5 years then back to Chicago for another 5 and retired at the age of 50! And why? Black women! The more they took away the job we were paid to do the more our jobs turned into, ‘other duties assigned,’ a/k/a expecting me to be a wet nurse, a counselor, a social worker, a physiotherapist, bilingual and all other abuse to come! They could not have put enough $.0,’ behind $I bill for me to face those bitches one more dammed day! I retired in 2007 and if I was still working? I’d be making $123,00.00 and again! They could not have paid me enough to face those bitches! Since retirement and now being a private citizen life has been grand! Just to show you how god provides when one does good in life towards the worst of the worst from job, to family to friends and I’ve been able to thin the heard within my life! Now my blessing! Back in the year 2001 I was working and living in Philadelphia and I was a GS-12 and the government Grade Scales a/k/a went from a GS-1 to a GS15 and I made it up to the Grade-12 but they had job openings for Grade 13’s but the Agency, “HUD,” wanted to hire from the outside to raise the number of employees they had but instead of promoting us GS-12’s they wanted to bring the new hires in, expect for us who did the job to mentor new higher then ultimately promote them to Grade 13’s over us GS-12.’ The union was not having that shit, so it was on so we who are/was a part of that lawsuit stand to get back pay from the year 2001 to currently which is 2018 and 3 months! After all those years HUD wants to now settle the law suit! 16 plus years of recalculation of benefits to pay difference all with interest due! Man, you have not seen no $Dollar$ figures until the government owes you? $Shit$, but in life we have to tolerate as much as we can to pay our bills. So, I have a lot of relatives living all other ATL and I plan on visiting them from time to time and my being from the City of Chicago and best believe, 'I've learned to be a real lethal weapon on my own rights,' so bitches who's out to do crimes, etc., they got to bring an ass to get one! Good luck to all wherever they live at! That crazy shit shows in TV relating to, 'Stars,' as they are called is for the birds and I thank them for the entertainment they provide acting dammed fools! Such as life! Aha! PS.: The cheapest place to live is a Mobile Home Park! Most of the people who lives in the one I reside in, ‘has cars that cost more than their mobile homes,’ so something to check out folks because relocating, finding you a mobile home to live in and a town which has a lot of police stations, restaurants, factories and/or Hospitals! You’ll always have a job because people get sick, people get hungry and people fuck up and get locked up, so those jobs are forever in comparison to the temp agency’s etc. So, head up people! Heads up! PS.: I live in the Midwest! 100 plus miles West of Chicago and? And to be honest these white folks really don’t want our black ass’s down here not because we are bad people? It’s some of our race member who fucks up but if you live in a town long enough? Law Enforcement get’s use to seeing you and ultimately, they know WHO the bad ones are and in that case! We don’t look as much as alike as you’d think? Good luck to you all!

Ok in the world today presentation and illusion are everything. You might not like it and it might not be fair but the fact remains presentation and illusion are everything. Dude what you say in this video has the strong ring of truth to it. But your presentation of both self and your content reinforces the most negative black stereotypes possible for those who don't know you. Some people would look at your presentation immediately see the poor black negro too tired to hold his head up without resting it on his hands. Your delivery which did not sound assertive or authoritative. The clanging spoons, bowls and other distractions suggest your life is unstructured ruled by chaos. You are heard chewing food and slurping whatever as you talk with presents you in an overly familiar way. Your general presentation is one lacking, culture or decorum. The fact that your video was so distracting it suggests an ill mannered nature, You don't have soft skills, like manners and culture hence your affect is harsh making you a poor fit for any business that wanted to present an air of sophistication to their customers.
You think I'm trying to put you down and no I am not. I think deep down you are a good and honorable man who wants a good job paying a living wage. The problem is most jobs today in 2018 require you to have a more polished public face. Your presentation of self is WAY TOO CASUAL! Casual is nice when at home or at a party but the cadence of your voice, to the way you present yourself is painfully casual as if you don't take things seriously enough. Nobody gives you anything. Today to get ahead you must be aggressive not in a fighting hood rate way. You must be aggressive in planning and strategy. You have to market yourself as a commodity. You have to create your work persona as a brand that defines you as the unique solution to a potential employers problems. You must create yourself as a brand unique among your peers.
Just like there are watches and there is the Rolex! Rolex ain't nothing but another watch but when you say Rolex most folk know thats something special among watches. This video is presents you in a way as to suggest you are nothing special which is why I have the experience you do. I live in Baltimore and it is hell here too. There are so many black men in your same situation here. They suffer for many of the same reasons you do. I am a black man living in Baltimore yet I do very well because; I've learned to market myself. I pay close attention to managing and updating my brand keeping it fresh and interesting.
Finally you need to stop the pity party because YOU SIR HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE GREAT! The ONLY thing holding you back is that you don't believe in yourself. Your heart, your mind and your soul if hobbled by STINKIN THINKIN! You can be great sir. The problem is not Atlanta the problem is you lack faith in you! No place welcomes you with open arms. I've lived or visited many places in this USA and world. When so many people saw this crippled little old bent up cock eyed, cerebral palsied, autistic man walking their way many were predisposed to hate me. I was afraid but I forged ahead. I presented myself with a vigor and a self confidence that was in time infectious. I love myself as God first loved me. I spread the abundant joy that God gave me. I try to have so much joy in my heart it is impossible for the most wicked to steal it all.
In your face deep below all that pain you have some joy and you won't succeed till you let go of that pain and failure and embrace the true joys God gave you to share in life. Our true joys will bring us profits in time. You are a good man never forget that!

You both had the wherewithal to move from Virginia to Georgia, so I am sure you have what it takes to be successful. While you continue to look for work or move back to Virginia; think about what you love to do & somehow turn it into a business. God Bless you both. 😊

Yes, that's right! Atlanta is a great city for professionals. I have been here all my life and most natives are doing doing well; honestly. I have had two homes, and two businesses and working on another one. It is also a city where you have to do a lot of networking with people that are established. Yes, the traffic is awesome, but I haven't lived in the city for many years now and the suburbs are the best for living, schools, and traffic. I made a video on this same topic. I hope things work out for you guys. Please feel free to send me a message on you tube if I can be of any support. Take care.😃💛

I believe it's a bot because that's a lie! He also forgot to mention another con... how long it takes for permanent jobs to get in contact with you after you apply. By the time they get back to you, your usually already working somewhere and DON'T WANT TO RISK leaving because you know how hard it was to get the job you have in the first place. The environment and way of thinking is so slow in Georgia it's ridiculous. He said their are a lot of snakes, TRUE! Very closed minded people. They go to church each Sunday but happen to be the most judgmental and hypocritical of them all! They won't admit it though, smh. Poverty is ramped throughout the state. So many people donate plasma and go to other means just to get some change in their pocket so they can get by each week. Especially in the smaller cities around the state. Slavery mentallity in 2018.

    • @SmackYaMama
      @SmackYaMama 6 лет назад

Bren Williams Sounds like I offended you and that wasn't the point. I was born and raised here. We grew up seeing Blacks make a way for themselves here while dealing with heavy racism. After most of the Blacks left the south to go up north, our parents stayed down and built for themselves. They were working career jobs and building businesses, not working temp jobs. So understand for those of us that are from here, alot of these videos sound like personal excuses of why they cant succeed in life. I'm not sure of these people that you know that have degrees working part-time, but that's a personal issue for them, not an indication of this city. All I'm saying is this isn't the city to move to if you don't have several skills, an education, and a plan for yourself. It's not the fake Hollywood you see on tv but it's also not a place to be on your grind.

I'm glad he didn't choose the cheaper route and start going in on like the type of people living there like the gays, lesbians, or attacked the health part of it like HIV/AIDS.
