$5k isn't much compared to the average NHL salary, but the thing that *always* seems to get overlooked regarding supplemental discipline is that the NHLPA has a role in setting the parameters, if not in the individual decisions. The union sees its role as representing the player being disciplined (i.e., labor) against the league (i.e., management). Brian Burke has said that when he was in charge of supplemental discipline, he had a tacit agreement with the NHLPA that causing a cut that needed less than 10 stitches to close would not be subject to suspension. Literally, he said it was the equivalent of a shaving cut.
Idk, same stats and we lose a 6th and double the cap hit of the goalie, meh. Should've just stuck it out for something better or wait till next season for Nabokov.
As an Avs fan, I think this is just the start of more trades. With cap hell that the Avs are in I think there will be many deals to try and work something out for maybe a better goalie. Avs usually dont do many bad moves since Sakic has taken over.
As an Avs fan I just don't get this trade, getting rid of a young good sized goalie who could be their starter for a long time if just allowed to get some experience. If anything, Colorado should be the ones receiving an extra pick not giving one away. At this point I'm starting to think that Georgiev must have some sort of blackmail on the GM.
Avs special. Annunen plays good, gets hanged up dry by terrible defence and loses all confidence. Gets traded. What? They traded a very young goalie that showed promise in a year that they are just not looking good at all.
It's kind of a small sample size. Annunen hasn't been good against good teams. Like he's been bad. I agree. It's odd. But I assume having an experienced Backup in Wedgewood would be a better idea
@@teapea8184 they have no room to develop Annunen if he cant give them good starts. we never know which Georgiev starts, the good or the bad one. I don't understand the trade from the Avs standpoint. Obviously, something needs to change with the goaltending, but Wedgewood? I'm hopeful as a fan of the team, but the trade just doesn't make sense.
Avs fan. This trade makes no sense. You're trading a young inconsistent backup goalie with some upside for an old inconsistent backup goalie with very little upside... and a 6th round pick. We talk about how tough the goalie market is but look what Ulmark went for over the summer. I know the Avs are a bit strapped for trade pieces but they're not THAT strapped... what am I missing?
What's with Colorado and collecting low performing goalies? I also give props to the officials for reviewing that penalty with Malkin and catching Zadorov's poke from the bench.
Really don’t get why we did that. Annunen has a high ceiling and is young I get we do it to win now but wedewood is idiotic I would’ve rather been patient w kakhonen and carry 3. Scott has not given a single reason for any team to invest in him this year
My thoughts are: 1. Wedgewood numbers are trending up while annunen’s are trending down. 2. Wedgewood might be better immediate competition. Georgie’s game was best when kahkonen was a threat. 3. Miner looked good the game he played - maybe he’s seen as the future and not Annunen. 4. Annunen has been streaky his entire career with the Avs… just like Georgie. 5. C. Mac is building trade capital for something… he’s been known to make odd trades that piece together down the road. All I know is the Avs have a history of good decision making while the preds have been questionable… so part of me thinks this will favor the Avs in the end. Although I’m struggling to see it at the moment.
The first season Georgie was there, he was great. Because the defense was great. It was a holdover from the Cup run. The last two seasons? No idea what happened
Was hoping you would touch on askarov here. How does this affect the fans view of trotz? Appears maybe he was in between a rock and a hard place with saros wanting term and an up and coming elite prospect. but now to trade away wedgewood who may have been the tipping point player for askarov and his agent. Feels like a botched goalie situation by tortz.
Trots looked like he knocked out the park and the preds problems are unexpected. I think all players are still good players they lost their way! The Preds need to come together as one team? Play for the guy next to you? Playing for you hasn't worked out
I like Annunen in the AHL where I got to see him play a bunch. I hope he is more successful in the new spot. Avs need a goalie though. They drafted him back in 18 I think, Miner in 19 and Miner doesn't look like it. No goalies until this year's draft where they got 2, so it could be a while.
Jeez the avs just continue to make bad trades, why trade a 24 year old goalie who has shown at least some flash of decency and a pick for a washed up 32 year old goalie who's never really shown much of anything???? The avs real problem is their small non physical defensemen who can't move anybody out from in front of their own net and horrible team defense. Stop blaming the goalies for everything, they can't stop what they can't see.
Big D-men can't skate and join the rush? Tell that to hedman, tell that to Hamilton, tell that to Power, tell that to sergachev... Saying big defensemen can't skate shows how little you know about hockey.
Nice Jersey, mister Shannon. Do you know if your supplier sells this one? I don't see how Wedgewood solves the Avs problems. Annunen is a fine backup to Saros. I think the Preds win this one, but we said that about the offseason so... Yeah.
I have no idea why the Avs made that trade. I really liked Annunen. I was hoping he would get some more experience and become the starter eventually. It seems like at best a lateral move but that's ignoring the age difference. As an Avs fan I'm baffled.
You're doing a fantastic job! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
wow. I dont know if thos a sign as far as the goalie market being too steep for rentals or the Avs are looking for the proverbial spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.
The stats do not always tell the whole truth. Annunen hasn`t really struggled that badly, it has been more about the terrible two way playing and own zone protection of the avs. Annunen has taken good W`s when Georgiev has been bad. I`m not sure if this trade made any sense from the Avs` point of view. But, their moves have not made that much sense in general during recent seasons.
As an Avs fan I think this is a total shake up trade for the Avs. They had to do something, and they did. The fans and I'm sure the players were getting tired of nothing at all being done in net. The Avs future starter is playing in the KHL anyway....he can't get here soon enough.
The Annunen move is a complete botch by Colorado. He wasn’t the goalie to trade, but CMac refuses to admit his first move as GM was a horrible choice in signing Georgiev as the starter.
McFarland needs to be fired. The team has declined significantly since winning the cup. He didn't improve the goaltending in the summer now potentially gets shafted on this trade. Anunnen will be good in Nashville, you can count on that. The Avs simply aren't going to make the playoffs with one of the worst goaltending, worst defense, worst penalty killing in the league. Now that I think of it, a five or six game losing streak will likely cost Bednar his job.
@MrBlazemaster525 yes, younger goalies can be prone to being less consistent, but older goalies are more injury prone. Most recent example for the Avs being Francouz. He got injured during the finals and never really bounced back from it.
I don't get the trade. But, this is something that Colorado does. Pretty lame trade honestly. I wonder if they are positioning themselves for a bigger deal in the spring.
Avs fans acting like they just traded away prime Patrick Roy lol. Not defending Georgie, but Justus ain't it either. You can say the should have traded Georgie instead, but he; A) Is older B) Has a higher cap hit C) Is a UFA after this year Trading Georgie would have required giving up more and likely retaining salary, too.
Thanks for the video! Avs seem to be signaling something but I am not sure what! Malkin should know better from the stick swinging incident in 2019, though that was even more egregious. Still, Zadorov has always been an instigator and cheap shot artist, even when he was with the Blackhawks for a year, and I never liked him all that much. If they take a look at his career of troublemaking, they might retire him to some Euro League and be better off. They should upgrade fines to suspensions. Then just blackball anyone with three or more suspensions for non-fighting events. As I always say, just drop the gloves and go at it or skate away. Cheap shots end too many careers. Bad news for Brossoit, though it won't change the fate of the Blackhawks.
As a bruins fan and season ticket holder ... They just need to drop Zadorov! He is just a poison for the team. He is doubling anyone else's PM on the team, and for the post part, he has as many PM as some team's total! It is way out of control. I almost broke my TV last night seeing him take a penalty NOT EVEN ON THE ICE!!!!??! Come on, what are you going to do next? Kick at a Goalie at the end of a period?
From the Avs pov, this trade is a bit like trying to cure the symptom with a band aid rather than trying to fix the root cause of the problem. They could have sorted out their goaltending in the summer, but they didn't.. I really think Nashville won this trade consider Annunen is only 24 years old and still has the potential to become a starting goaltender.
They also didn't sort out their defense either. Plus they just literally don't have the cap space. They are trying to keep cap space in case Landy comes back
@@soulknife20 True. But they could've signed Lankinen. He's a proven back up/1B and he was unsigned far into the summer. And so far he has performed far better in Vancouver than the Avs goalies.
I don't like it... Annunen is just 24. He has been bad this year but he's so young and he has shown some good promise. I'd like to have sent him to the AHL for about 2 more years and try again. Now... I have no idea what we're going to do for the future. I don't know as we can keep going with Georgie after this year. I have no idea what they'll do. I think we do have a promising guy in the KHL but that's a long way off.
Long-time Avs fan here...I haven't been able to watch too many games for my boys, but it seems like the issue is that they weren't playing consistent defensive hockey & leaving their goalies out to dry...not always the goalies' fault. This is a horrible move. Justus was a brighter spot between the posts and has age & salary on Wedgewood. I hope this trade works out for the Avs and maybe the new area would be good for both goalies, but this was not the move the Avs needed.
As a fan of neither team I like the trade. Wedge wood could get comfortable and win the starting position in a perfect scenario. Sorry boys but Nashville is toast this year

start on time, give this guy a chance to be good and reinstall the skaters confidence in their goalie. go on a tear
In other hockey news, the PWHL season 2 started today! 😊
No one cares
Avs GM smoking some potent weed on this one. WTF?
I like the trade for nashville but it's not gonna help them score more than 2 goals a game 🤷♂️
I think it's just good trade value they're not expecting him to save the team
I’ve always had a lot of faith and trust in Sakic and McFarland’s management, but this one is definitely a head-scratcher.
Awful deal. There is no way this fixes the problems in Colorado
Having Georgiev and Anunen as your goaltenders is a bad FO move. Magnified because it’s a crucial position.
To be fair, they did have Francouz as backup, but since he got hurt and retired I they've been struggling to replace him.
WHY DIDNT THEY JUST KEEP LANKINEN
yeah that I knew was a mistake and I wish my Avs wouldve picked him up
As an Avs fan I just don't get this trade, getting rid of a young good sized goalie who could be their starter for a long time if just allowed to get some experience.
With annunen he has track records where hes trash for a stretch, then playable for a stretch. they can’t keep waiting for him to figure it out aswell, when their starter is struggling too. If Wedgy can play well enough to give Georgiev games off, thats the goal.
the skaters have 0 trust in their goalies at this point, because both of them have single handedly lost them games, but havent stolen one. not one. thats the issue.
@Nathanielhiggerson66 It's also the other side. The goalie has zero trust in the defense. It's a lose-lose situation
They either really really wanted to dump their own goalie or they really wanted wedge.
The trade is so weird, Georgiev has played worse, why not trade him?
Big contract. Who wants that? And at what cost?
Avs need a goaltender , needed one for a couple years. Now they need another backup.
The first season Georgie was there, he was great. Because the defense was great. It was a holdover from the Cup run. The last two seasons? No idea what happened
They have two backups. What is a third one going to do? 😉😄😄
Amazing trade one bad goaltender for another bad goaltender at a higher cap and older
Avs fan. Feels like we wanted to send an early Christmas gift to Nashville
Stars fan here, very surprised Wedgewood is struggling after last season.
And they get big, physical defensemen who can't keep up with their forwards and can't join the rush. Big defensemen can't skate.
Yeah.
Does Trotz have Sakic's dog in his basement or something? It's a highway robbery, not a trade.
Thought Mrazek was in Detroit, nope, it's Lyon (Lehigh valley phantoms fan here) and Talbot. Both ex Flyers goalies
I have no idea why the Avs made that trade. I really liked Annunen. I was hoping he would get some more experience and become the starter eventually. It seems like at best a lateral move but that's ignoring the age difference. As an Avs fan I'm baffled.
I don't think Bednar liked Annunnen personally.
Goaltending isn't the problem in Nashville. 5 on 5 matters.
You're doing a fantastic job! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Malkin with a dirty play? Really??!? 😏
Scott Wedgewood is the goalie you get when you're tanking and the avs are the team giving the pick and prospect goalie?
Sakic what are you cooking?!
Nashville looking for back up netminder and a little more for even trade?
Gosh we as Avalanche! We are very pathetic so for combinations aren’t working and couching is also below average 😢
wow. I dont know if thos a sign as far as the goalie market being too steep for rentals or the Avs are looking for the proverbial spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.
Column A, column B.
Remember when they got Kuemper, didn't expect much of him so who knows how it will work out.
@@rhyta5042They also had the number one defense in the league.
I heard that Saros is "Finished" (not Finnish). Thought he got injured...whew
Have the Avs made a single good trade since MacFarland was named GM?
The Elixir for what's Ailing both teams? Nah this more like an Amuse Bouche 😂
I feel like Nashville smashed that trade. A 24 year old goalie is very young in terms of goalie development
Askarov can always help the preds. Go Sharks
Why do I get this sensation that the Avs should rebuild or at least retool. And this is from an Avalanche fan
They always needed to have an option for when Georgiev has his swoons
I don't like Malkin or Zadorov, but if Malkin doesn't retaliate, punk Zadorov never gets fined ...good on Malkin
The Colorado Maple Leafs are desperate.
Bednar isn't getting fired anytime soon. To think otherwise is asinine
I think wr should have shopped Annunen for a younger goalie than Wedgewood
Young goalie is exactly what the Avalanche don't need, especially with how inconsistent Georgiev is
@MrBlazemaster525 yes, younger goalies can be prone to being less consistent, but older goalies are more injury prone. Most recent example for the Avs being Francouz. He got injured during the finals and never really bounced back from it.
I don't get the trade. But, this is something that Colorado does. Pretty lame trade honestly. I wonder if they are positioning themselves for a bigger deal in the spring.
Avs fans acting like they just traded away prime Patrick Roy lol. Not defending Georgie, but Justus ain't it either. You can say the should have traded Georgie instead, but he;
A) Is older
B) Has a higher cap hit
C) Is a UFA after this year
Trading Georgie would have required giving up more and likely retaining salary, too.
We got some trades 😎😎🤙🏾🤙🏾
Avs got fleeced again.
5 k. That’s chump change today.
Colorado looking for experienced 1b goaltender?
From the Avs pov, this trade is a bit like trying to cure the symptom with a band aid rather than trying to fix the root cause of the problem. They could have sorted out their goaltending in the summer, but they didn't.. I really think Nashville won this trade consider Annunen is only 24 years old and still has the potential to become a starting goaltender.
They also didn't sort out their defense either. Plus they just literally don't have the cap space. They are trying to keep cap space in case Landy comes back
@@soulknife20
True. But they could've signed Lankinen. He's a proven back up/1B and he was unsigned far into the summer. And so far he has performed far better in Vancouver than the Avs goalies.
@@apaapsson4465He wasn't at the time. Canucks took a huge chance on him
If avs is this desperate, just get Raanta and things should be much much better
If Raanta stays healthy, he's great. But he doesn't stay healthy
Basically this. See the Vegas game. Good defense, good goaltending. Stars game? Bad defense, bad goaltendin. Been that way for years. See Kuemper
My first impression of this Avs trade is that it sucks
Well thatll teach you, Geno! And dont you do that again!
You forgot to say today and today’s date. But, I’m so sorry about that.
I'm a Bruins fan so when Zadorov was signed i got slack for saying its a bad signing. He sucks.
Nashville could really use a young goalie right now, someone like Askarov....
hockey guy losing his shit. turning into hot takes guy
*sigh* more Swiss cheese goaltending from the Avs
To be fair, Saaros has looked like trash with the Preds, too.
As a fan of neither team I like the trade. Wedge wood could get comfortable and win the starting position in a perfect scenario. Sorry boys but Nashville is toast this year
I never understood why pro sports teams have flat fines instead of percentages. Like, the NFL having a rule not to advertise politics and then the one dude did it and got fined like 0.25% of his game day pay check. That will teach him and others how serious your rules are.
Stooooopid avs trade
those fined are so stupid and useless for a nhler that earned 5m/y
a 5 000$ fined represent 0.1% of there annual salary😅
Look at it this way?: an NHL player basically gets a CT scan for free down the road?
Wedgewood is just another sign of how pathetic Avs are this season.
Avs are a good team with terrific talent. 2022 Stanley cup champs! The season is still young.
@@dereks1848Op is a hater. Their team is probably bottom tier or never won a Cup
