I’ve put mine on a diet. I’ve now taken 9kg off the bike.
Exhaust and battery were the biggest savings. Passengers pegs and bar ends are 1.5kg together. Plastic tail end is 0.8kg !🎉

I'm at an even 345 lbs. with an almost-full Clarke 3.7 gal., aluminum rack, FMF full exhaust and a lithium battery that weighs almost nothing. Mine's a dual sport/town bike, not a loaded adventurer. Lighter parts really help.

With the same method, mine weighs 340 pounds, no gas, no tools. She's no lightweight, but managable on the trails. GSXR exhaust, plastic tank, no rear pegs, small led blinkers, alum. handlebars, alum. rack, PVC tooltube, etc Cheers.

30lb or 13kg!!! Good effort! The exhaust must save you at least 8lb? And the gas maybe another 6 or 7lb. I dont have the grab rails or pegs but the blinkers might be a slight weight loss. Nice one mate

@@NzJohny Gas is about 6 pounds per US gallon, so on my 5 gallon Acerbis, thats a 30 pound swing right there. I'm at the point of diminishing returns. Lighter tires? Nope. It is what it is. Time to improve the heaviest part of the equation, that big lump sitting on the seat!

What plastics are you using? I’d like to order a set of black plastics like yours. I like the stock shaped front fender

These are all stock plastics :)

If the tank is half full, it must weigh close to the same as a stock bike. I think you could get rid of about 4 or 5kg by going to an aftermarket exhaust.

Hey mate how do you find this bike in off road at slower speeds over rough terrain for handling etc. I was looking at buying one before November 1st rule stops them being put on road. Im wanting a good basic long service affordable adventure bike. I have xr600 unlicenced bike and like it but these are like 40kg heavier and I here are alot less power and torque. I like there reliability record though just a bit worried about weight issue mainly is it a deal breaker? I thought about the drz400 but maybe a little small... im unsure and need to make decision within a month. never ridden one. Im 6.1 foot too and prefer a high seat height are your legs cramped when riding these too at all?

Hey mate. Never had an issue with power. Great trail bike. I am 5"11 and the seat height is good. You can lower the foot pegs with brackets if you wanted. I don't find the bike to be that heavy. You should go to the dealer and sit on one. Would love to see what u think. Chers

@@NzJohny I couldn't find any around my area to try out for size etc. So I just took a gamble and bought one the other day. Pick it up from a chch dealer in a few weeks when it arrives and assembled. Pretty cheap price but think I'l be spending a few grand down the line in upgrades if I like it and decide it's for me that is.

@@bush600r2 awesome stuff mate congrats. Avon city suzuki?? U will definitely become addicted to modding. You should be able to tweak the bike enough to suit you with the amount of accessories out there. Chers

@@NzJohny cheers mate. Yep it's from Avon city, did you end up getting yours from them too did you? I asked them if I could service bike myself but they said id need to take it to them or another authorized bike mechanic to keep warranty. I prefer to do my own servicing though, thought maybe they were just trying to get extra money but unsure? I think I'll look into that though to see what Suzuki will honor.

My riding consists of about %80 Road and %20 offroad. When I get some time off I'm planning a weeks trip around the country. Hopefully get a chance to do some more offloading.

@@NzJohny oh yeah, I’m looking at the Drz400 or the dr650. I’d like to do some off-road riding, some nice rides in Qt. However most of the rides will be big rides to chch and Nelson. 650 just sounds like it would be better for the longer rides

@@MrBigbobsbeans it's perfect for those trips for sure! I've done a trip from chch through the west coast and down mount aspiring national park to wanaka etc. Was perfect for that.

@@NzJohny yeah I’m on the coast, plenty of beaches to explore but I’ve got shitty old quad for that. I’m pretty small so next time I’m in chch I’ll go have a few of them, I think I’ll be similar, mostly on the road with hopes of going off.
